History

Established in 1999.

The firm’s true origins date back to the late 1980s, to the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, where name partners Chris Seeger and Stephen Weiss first met on the school’s Law Review. The two struck up a fast friendship that set the stage for their eventual collaboration.

When Seeger opened a two-​man plaintiffs’ firm in 1993, Weiss supported his best friend, securing early litigation referrals for the young organization. Seeger returned the favor, and invited his former law school classmate to join him in 1999. Just weeks later, Weiss’s former colleague, David Buchanan, also joined, rounding out the new firm’s nucleus.

Since then, they have attracted a talented mix of big-​firm veterans, who, in turn, have given Seeger Weiss a breadth of experience and sophistication that’s striking for a plaintiffs’ firm, and offer further proof to the aspirations of Seeger and Weiss of building an all-​purpose, high-​octane litigation powerhouse not confined to any one specialty.

Co-​founder of Seeger Weiss LLP, Christopher A. Seeger is one of the nation’s most versatile, respected and accomplished attorneys practicing complex and mass tort actions. With a particular expertise in pharmaceutical cases including Vioxx, Zyprexa, Rezulin, PPA and Ephedra, Mr. Seeger is regularly quoted in the press as a legal authority. In addition to representing large classes of plaintiffs who collectively seek damages from major companies for fraud and negligence, Mr. Seeger also represents individuals who have suffered injuries as the result of negligence or malfeasance.

Stephen A. Weiss co-​founded Seeger Weiss in 1999 after spending a decade at a nationally prominent corporate defense firm where he represented numerous Fortune 500 companies in environmental and other commercial litigation. Steve has earned the admiration of his clients, peers and adversaries alike for his pragmatically creative and honest approach to litigation and conflict resolution.
