Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel

I had a good stay that was ruined when I had an issue with a separate bill showing up on my credit card after check out which wasn’t on my receipt. I have called three different times and left messages each time with the accounting department. To date there has been no return phone call. I will not be coming back when traveling to NYC for business or personal. Nor will I be recommending it to my peers and family.

Although I live in Manhattan, I recently stayed here while my apartment was painted. I am a Starwood SPG member and stay at many of their hotels.
The Sheraton Times Square was everything that I expected. It was clean, relatively up-​to-​date, and in a great area. The room was pretty spacious, great A/​C, terrific security, and a fantastic staff. Check-​in was quick, only in line for 7 minutes.
Many places to eat in the neighborhood. Although it’s close to the Carnegie Deli, I refused to pay their prices. Instead walked four blocks to D&S Marketplace and brought back one of their wonderful sandwiches… for $ 8.00. It would have been $ 25 at the Carnegie.
Want a late night snack? Pretty tasty $ 1.00 pizza on Broadway between 54^th & 55^th Streets. There is also a 24-​hour food cart across the street from the Sheraton… a cult place for grilled chicken, gyros and falafel.
The hotel has a nice health club and an active lobby for reading and people-​watching.
Although I live in Manhattan, it was nice experiencing another neighborhood, alive with tourists. It’s also 6 blocks from Central Park, Whole Foods at the Time-​Warner Center, and many reasonably priced restaurants. Sometimes it’s fun to connect with the other Manhattan.
BTW, the WiFi is fast, and free of you book your reservation online with SPG. All in all, a great stay.

I’m used to dealing with other people’s crap at hotels, and being charged a lot for extra services, this hotel outdid every other one I’ve been to. You had pay 15 dollars for 12 Mbps wifi, you don’t get a fridge either, you have to pay for that. The room snacks which I’m used to paying 2x prices for are also insanely priced (think 10 dollars for a kit kat). Then on top of that, the other people in the hotel were obnoxiously loud. The first night there was a loud fight in Spanish next door at 2 am, the next night there was a fist fight at 4am that security was called in for. The third night there was yet another fight at around 11pm, on top of all this there were crying babies, people yelling into they’re speaker phones and much more. The only thing that redeemed the hotel were the nice facilities and polite staff.

Overpriced for an average hotel
Front desk service is very variable. I had one good experience and one terrible experience.

We had two rooms for one night and the lady at the front desk wasn’t helpful at all. It had to be resolved by an outside source. She was indignant that we were wrong even though we had proof of the two rooms that were reserved.

Loved my 2-​night stay at this hotel back in May. I was able to book a room a few nights beore I arrived and was able to get upgraded to a suite upon check-​in because of SPG Platinum. I thought it would be a standard suite, but this suite was essentially two separate rooms: one bedroom with 2 double beds, mini fridge, a bathroom, a table, and TV and and one living room with a bathroom, couch, pull-​down bed, table, armchairs, minfridge etc. There was so much space!
I definitely used the amenities to the best of my ability. I went to the gym with complimentary access ($ 10/​day if not SPG member) and it was huge with 3 separate rooms: a room with treadmills and elipticals, a room with stationary bikes, and the weight room.
The best feature was the 24-​hour Club Lounge which is available to SPG members or for $ 60/​day per guest. There is complimentary continental breakfast in the morning and complimentary evening hors d’oeuvres at night and unlimited coffee/​water/​soda/​fruit throughout the day ²⁴⁄₇.

Old furniture, worn down carpets, only stayed here as I was there for a conference. Recommend staying elsewhere in the city. Tons of great options nearby.

Although I think its ridiculously overpriced, everything else was even worse, so I’m not going to take any points off for that. Otherwise, this is a fine hotel. Its like every other Sheraton, so at this point if you’ve stayed in one, you should know what to expect. It’s a fine night sleep, it has a decent club lounge and a Starbucks in the lobby. Definitely a known quantity, but there’s also nothing exceptional — at least not that was obvious to me during my one night stay. I will say that they were very busy and didn’t have a ton of desk staff — I checked in somewhat «after work,» so I feel like they could have anticipated that there would be business travelers coming from the office and needing to check in after work. And then there were the 6,000 Emirates cabin crew checking out, which didn’t help with the crowd.
I’d come back. But at least in New York, I’m looking for something reasonably priced (reasonably being a relative term) and there’s not much here that would make me pay extra. Location maybe, but there are other hotels the same rough distance from my client.

Watch out if you touch someting from teir refrigerator the sodas over price no lie 7 times more than what they cost and their personal had a bad and poor costumer service.
We went downstairs to informed them about not being explained that if you move someting or tocuh a chargerd that they put you in the room you’ll be charge and the laday just laught and told us to not touch anything then… im giving them 2 starts because the hotel it’s clean and it’s in a good area.

I was here for six days for a conference back in February.
First off, I didn’t select this hotel — my college did. No fault on them for this choice though, which leads me to my second point, which is that I regard hotel rooms as places to sleep and sh! t while I conduct my real business. All I require is a clean, well kept room with no bedbugs or vermin. I don’t need a view or fancy room amenities. Hell, a room at the Y would suit me just fine.
To my standards, the burly bald desk clerk is abrupt. I chalk it up to New York attitude. I have nothing against him. Nor do I have anything against the elevator cop who roughly demanded to see my room key to verify I was a valid hotel guest.
The room coffee is courtesy of Starbucks, but the hotel only provides a couple of single-​serve packets in which to brew up cups. Same goes for the tea bags. The mini fridge is fully stocked with drinks and munchies, but be prepared to pay a small fortune should you choose to snack from it.
Room service will restock the coffee and tea daily, as well as providing those little bottles of soap, shampoo, and lotion.
The room never got warm enough for me, despite jacking up the a/​c temp. Thank God the hotel provided thick comforters to hide under.
The room itself is clean and cozy.
The USA Today newspaper was provided daily on the elevator lobby, which was nice. WiFi worked as advertised. The only TV I watched was the news.
The hotel has conference rooms in the lower levels. What can I say? They are conference rooms, same as the ones back in Hawaii. They provided candy, coffee, tea, and writing pads in these rooms which I helped myself to.
The hotel is on 6^th Ave which in a 15– minute brisk walk brings you onto Broadway and Madison Square. There’s enough street food carts along the way to keep me filled with hot dogs and halal food.
Overall, a decent hotel. I didn’t pay for it, so I have nothing really to complain about.

Pros:
Hotel is in a good area there is subway entrances right next to hotel that allows you to maneuver and avoid having to walk to much when you get back to the hotel.
The room is an okay size not to small I have seen smaller rooms on New York.
The hotel is nice and clean.
Price was reasonable
A couple blocks away from time square.
Cons:
The Customer service in lobby area sucks we asked if they happened to have an eta on our room when we first arrived girl said we don’t know okay I understand if they don’t have an eta but there are other ways of saying it.
Bathroom had fruit flies or nats I think they come from the drain.
Bed is not that comfortable it’s not the worst but not the best.
We paid for a king size bed they gave us a queen said it was an optional thing for hotel to give you a king.
Overall it was okay on my next visit to New York will try another hotel I am sure there will be a better hotel for same price.

Stayed here during the NYC Blizzard 2016 and had a great experience.
This hotel is cheap, great quality, and good service, also make sure you splooge on the Concierge level access because unlimited views, coffee, espresso, breakfast, lunch, dinner is a win win. They have all sorts of snacks to grub to during the day.
It had easy access in, security guys checking keys to goto the room, as well as a fast paced bar and mini restaurant at the beginning. The uBers have no problem finding this place and parking on the right side of the road, and you can easily walk down to Times Square for the day and hang out, a quick walk with many shops and restaurants along the way. They also have gluten-​free bread so that is a win. The room service was excellent too.
If your thinking about a spot downtown or close to times square but not in the main area, check this spot out, it was legit for 5 nights. Only downside is check in, check in moves at a SNAILS pace.

Don’t waste your money here hoping to have a good experience! Front desk is utterly rude. I’ve heard stories about them scolding you like a five year old. Never thought I would experience it myself … like moment of silence… Bathroom wasn’t even clean. Pitiful. Location and room service staff is what made me give two stars.

I attended a conference here and spent some time in the lobby bar with colleagues and enjoyed it and that reminded me that this was the first hotel I stayed at when I came to New York 20 years ago!
First, the location is great. You are close to Times Square, theaters and tons of transit. My room was comfortable back then, but other than some clandestine meetings with married business travelers*, I haven’t spent much time in the rooms since that time so I can’t really judge.
But the conference area, although subterranean, was very nice. Pricey, but nice. Restrooms could have been larger but meeting rooms were nice and comfortable. I did hang out in the big bar to the left as you walk in and that was good. Service was very quick and friendly! Prices are high, but no higher than other midtown hotels so I can’t take off for that.
The best part about the lobby bar is if you get a seat near the windows. It is excellent for people watching.
During the off season, room rates are very reasonable but in high season, it’s a pricey proposition. However, I do have fond memories of staying here and I had no complaints from my colleagues who stayed here for the conference.

Stayed here for my first 5 day trip to NYC.

Check in/​out was a breeze. Arrived Thursday 1230am, departed Tuesday at 10am.
–only a $ 50 security deposit hold for entire stay
Cons:
–High priced Room service
–Heat didn’t work (we came during a snow blizzard 1÷23÷2016)
–Dust coming out the vents
–Room next to storage room so it was noisy in the mornings, we didn’t care to change the room since it was on a high floor and they had upgraded us already. (Booked through Priceline and got a deal, so why complain?)
–Bathroom was small
–Pillows are super uncomfy, slept with one instead of 2, they are extremely fluffy!
Be careful with the mini bar it is on weight censors. Don’t open it! It may move the things off the censors.
I probably won’t stay at this location due to the high volume of tourist (I know I was one this time but next time I’ll be a pro)

My husband and I stayed here when we were in New York for New Year’s Eve. We have generally had good experiences with Sheraton properties, and this was no exception. The staff was very nice and helpful.
I was very pleased with our room, overall. Yes, the bathroom was small, but the rest of the room was a decent size, by New York standards. The room was clean and well maintained. One thing that I would recommend is to get firmer pillows for the beds. The pillows that were on our bed felt like marshmallows. I was still able to get a decent night’s sleep, though.
There is a nice bar area in the hotel lobby. The bartenders are nice and the food and drinks are good. Just be aware, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.
The hotel is a few blocks from Times Square. I have to give them props for how they handled things on New Year’s Eve. Approximately mid evening, they shut down the main entrance to the hotel, which is on 7^th Ave. The only way that you could enter the hotel was through the side entrance on 53^rd St. In order to enter, you had to show them your key card and ID. When you have over 1 million people in Times Square, you need to make sure that your hotel doesn’t get flooded with people.
If you are planning a trip to New York, I highly recommend staying here.

SPG Gold member here and I can tell you that this hotel is majorly solid. I purposely wanted to come and review it as there seems to be a lot of whiners over here. I travel to New York pretty much every month and have stayed in a lot of hotels there, and for what it is, this Sheraton is fantastic.
First off, the location is great. You’re not in the thick of Times Square like the W (my least favorite W property EVER). I found the front desk staff super helpful and the gal actually sent complementary Redbull up to my room because I got there so late and had to work to finish at 11pm! Plus, there’s a security guard checking room keys before you get to the elevator bank so that just anyone can’t go up to the rooms.
By New York standards, I found the rooms to be spacious. As it’s a SPG property there was complimentary Starbucks coffee/​maker in room. The bathroom was a little small but whatever.
I always request a high floor away from elevator and received that. I found the house keeping staff to be pretty noisy and that kind of bothered me in the morning but it wasn’t really a big deal.
Downstairs bar serves as a makeshift Starbucks in the morning and then a regular bar at night. Lobby is a great place to do business meetings and I didn’t try the restaurant on site but I will say that the room service was fantastic and super quick considering the size of the hotel.
I would definitely stay here again.

Great location in Manhattan! This Sheraton is walking distance to Time Square, and about a few blocks to 9^th Avenue where there are plenty of hole in the wall places to eat. Bryant Park, Midtown, Central Park, and shopping mecca of high end brand names are also within less than 2 miles radius. If you are into the nightlife scene, this Sheraton location is probably the best location.
Rooms were great and spacious for NY standards. Also, love the Italian marbles sink, and my room even had a great view. Starbucks coffee is complimentary, however; their fridge is fully stocked with your favorite nightcap (alcohol), for a good picking price! LOL: p You will also find peanuts and candies for sale in your room for those late night munchies! Just don’t get carried away as you may find your incidentals at checkout, quite a surprise! :p
Here’s the cool thing though, if you use your Unilocal check-​in, you get two complimentary full breakfast. Selections are really good and includes «egg whites scrambled.»
There is parking behind the hotel, and there is also a 24 hour gourmet grocery store right around the corner that even sells cafeteria food and gelato ice cream!

I stayed here using points, so I am probably less critical than those who paid full price to stay at this hotel. Located just blocks away from the heart of Time Squares, you really can’t beat the location. Public transportation — including the E train to/​from JFK — is right outside the door, Central Park is within walking distance, and a myriad of restaurants and stores are close by. The city, in essence, is right at your fingertips.
I arrived to the city on an overnight flight and after catching up with friends for breakfast, the Sheraton staff was kind enough to let me check in early. Although I’d met people at this hotel when I lived in the city, I’d never stayed here. As I walked from the front desk to the elevators, I was once again impressed by the grandiose lobby.
My room was a decent size. I mean, it’s NYC so I didn’t expect too much. Plus, I had a weekend full of activities so I knew that I wouldn’t be spending a lot of time in the room anyway. While I was there, I ventured down to the fitness center which had a reception desk and beautiful wood floors. It was equipped with a number of pieces of cardio equipment including treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals. A separate weight room was also fully stocked with both free weights and a variety of machines. Towels, water, and sanitizing wipes were readily available.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a convenient place to stay in midtown.

Hotwire is why we came here. We found an amazing deal for the two nights (including Memorial Day). We didn’t know which hotel it would be but we only saw the price. Once we booked, we saw the hotel name. The trip advisor reviews were definitely more positive than the Unilocal reviews but seeing the Unilocal reviews had me worried but nothing to do about it once you book!
The hotel has its pros and cons
PROs:
1. Price was great but thru Hotwire
2. Location: Within 2 – 3 blocks of time square
3. Cleanliness: other than the bathroom, the hotel room was very clean
4. View was great from 31^st floor.
5. Customer service, specifically Iverson at the reception and check in, was outstanding. They go out of their way for you.
CONs:
1. The bathroom smelled funky
2. The bathroom shower tile were clearly dirty
3. The towels were old and thin.
4. The décor and walls were worn out. Forgot to take pics to show you
They served water bottles and cupcakes during the checkin process with the long lines. That was great. The line actually moved fairly fast too.
This is an average hotel even with the Sheraton name. The customer service at reception and checkin make the process great. Their customer service is definitely at a 4 – 5 level but in general it’s an average hotel.
Taking a shower and sleeping is basically what we use it for and if the shower was subpar well then half your experience was subpar. For the price we got thru Hotwire though and the customer service, it was well worth it for this trip. But we definitely don’t plan on returning
Oh and if you book thru Hotwire, you can’t use your SPG rewards number for the stay. Just the incidentals.

Súper buena comida a precio razonable, los chefs son una sorpresa ya que preparan desde lo mas simple a una sofisticación exquisita. Todo es muy fresco y con una gran variedad, lo mas parecido a un almacén de barrio, pero con el ingrediente Gourmet que lo hace único.
Recomendable si andas por ahí con hambre u no cuentas con muchos morlacos.

Une véritable catastrophe.
le hall de l’hôtel est ouvert à tout le monde. Les gens de l’extérieur rentre dans le hall, s’asseyent et mangent leur casse-​croûte. Pour monter à l’étage, il n’y a aucun contrôle, tout le monde peut rentrer, monter et descendre.
Mon ami s’est fait cambrioler sa chambre. Les chambres sont toutes petites, le personnel est très désagréable.
A éviter a tout prix.
