Smile in the City Dental Group

I heard about Dr. Schmidt from a good friend in NY and was told she was one of the top cosmetic dentists in the industry.
I called and spoke in length with the staff. After the conversation I was clear this was the only place I would trust with my teeth. I booked my flight and went to New York for my appointment. Dr. Schmidt and her staff were incredible; so knowledgeable and kind. Being there and experiencing the quality of service felt like I was at the Ritz Carlton of dentists!
My treatment went great, they did a perfect job and I could not be happier. You get what you pay for and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt and her team.

I recently had a procedure done with Dr Schmidt. She had a fantastic bedside manner and explained everything in detail. Lyndsey, the office manager was extremely friendly and able to answer all of my questions. The office is breathtaking– more like a spa than a dental office. For those who have had less than pleasant experiences with dentist’s, Dr Schmidt offers IV sedation. Absolutely recommend!

I went to Smile in the City because I don’t like going to the dentist. The doctors are awesome! I was very nervous but they were very caring and thorough, which made me comfortable. I would definitely recommend this office!

I just had a terrific experience with Dr. Nargiz Schmidt and her staff and I am extremely pleased with the my new Lumineers.
While my teeth were not in terrible shape, they were becoming discolored from a lifetime of coffee and other staining foods and drinks. They also had some imperfections that had never been corrected, such as one tooth that sat slightly behind the others.
The staff was gracious and welcoming. Both her staff and Dr. Schmidt explained the procedure carefully each step along the way. A great thing about the Lumineer solution is that there was no damage to my teeth — they are very thin porcelain and don’t require reducing your own teeth to apply.
What I particularly liked too was that this was not a «cookie cutter» solution. Dr. Schmidt has a great eye and was careful to make sure that the results looked like MY teeth, only better.
I would highly recommend Dr. Schmidt to anyone who wants or needs to improve the appearance — and function — of their teeth.

Reception 2 as very nice and was able to get an appointment right away. The office is very nice and clean. Dr. Schmidt was very cold and rude. I came in as a new patient and instead of helping me she handed me off to her assistant who although very nice are not trained in porclien veneers. She allowed them to correct one of my broken veneer and it was done incorrectly. She didn’t even come to check in and see if it was done right. I also asked to speak to her about other services and she took forever to get back to me so I left. I will never come back here again. It was a waste of time and money.

If you want a dentist who is going to take care of your situation in the best possible manner check out NY Dental. Dr. Zelig is a great choice especially for those who have dental phobias or bad gag reflexes (I have ruined my share of molds and x-​rays…) and would normally delay or avoid the dentist (something I did for while).
I have been to more than a dozen different dental practices in my life and have had significant dental work of all kinds. I am dumbfounded by the comments posted criticizing the cost. Dental work is expensive. If you plan to get your work done for the lowest cost well let’s just say you will get what you pay for. I am not saying these guys are inexpensive but if you want quality work you have to pay for it. Last I checked your teeth were in your mouth and people see your face every day… why risk your teeth over a few dollars?
If nothing else it is worth going in for a consultation.

I’ve been a patient at Smile in the City for many years. Like many patients, I had a fear of the dentist and was very anxious upon my first visit. From the moment I stepped through the doors, the staff was welcoming, accommodating, and incredibly caring. The doctors took their time going over my necessary procedures, answering any and all of my questions, and addressed my fear of dentistry in a professional and respectful manner.
Not only have I had numerous procedures from Smile in the City, but I also visit regularly for my routine cleanings. Dr. Zelig and Dr. Schmidt’s work has absolutely changed my life and I would recommend this office to absolutely anyone in need of a dentist in NYC!

I went there with high hope but found the place to be lacking professional integrity and very money driven. The highlight is you are greeted with a champagne during the consult. From that point on it all goes downhill. The doctor is very snobbish and impatient to questions. The assistant is not any better either. Maybe it should be called SAWTB (Smile All The Way To The Bank) Dental Group?

I just finished my last treatment this week and all I can say is wow. I am a very difficult patient, mostly due to having a very bad gag reflex. I had very bad experiences before and was very reluctant to go to a dentist until my front tooth popped out from my gums, at which point I had no choice but to see a dentist.
After doing much research and interviewing several dentists, I found this place. At first when you come in, the place is very soothing and doesn’t feel like a doctors office at all. During my initial consultation I specifically layer out all my requirements as to what my issues were. First of all, I would need to be completely sedated. I wasn’t able to take any x-​rays inside my mouth without being completely out.
I was assured that all my concerns would be addressed and taken care off and I had nothing to worry about. They did exactly as I asked. I had at least 6 treatments there and it was very smooth. I was put out completely and all the work was done during my sedation at which point once I woke, I was able to go home without any issues.
I will admit that the pricing was a bit high for what I was quoted but, for special people such as myself I couldn’t have found a better place. I will be returning here after six months for a cleaning at which point I will also have to be sedated.
I can’t speak for other people and maybe there are better deals out there, but sometimes as they say, you get what you pay for and for someone like me this is the place.

I meant to write this review two years ago but I don’t think I was a Unilocal user at the time. I did not like this place at all.
Yes, it’s spotless and more like a luxury hotel than a dentist office. Yes, they do a thorough consultation. My issue was how much they were like cars salesmen. No offense to you scrupulous car salesmen out there. But they basically take pictures of your smile, put them up on a big screen in a most embarrassing fashion, and then push high priced treatment on you. Their work didn’t even look that great to me.
The dentist recommended I get 8 lumineers, gave me a price, and when the receptionist shoved the contract in my face, I could see that the bill was for 10 teeth and for over $ 20,000. She desperately tried to coax me into signing the contract, and when I got very turned off by the whole interaction and decided to leave, she practically shamed me for not going ahead with everything. I really hope this receptionist is no longer there.
Anyway, you can take my review as a grain of salt (as you should always), but I definitely got the vibe that this place was all about money and very little about patient satisfaction.
