I have used this staffing firm in the past. A recruiter who used to work there manage to get me two temporary assignments. He left the agency and the person that was supposed to have been his replacement has never even bothered to give me a call or to follow up with me to see if I am available for work. Besides they only get temp jobs. Vanguard I think you suck and your recruiters are full of shit!!!

Terrible agency. They like to wait until 5:00 of your last day at an assignment to tell you that it’s over, and they will pay you in peanuts (I was living on poverty wages, for work that would quite easily pay more normally) while garnishing more than 50 percent of it for themselves. They will also rarely have work for you, and will pressure you to take their few assignments even when they clearly don’t match your specified minimum rate or skill set. Not worth your time.

My only contact with them was once, on the phone and, thankfully, that was all the contact I had with them. When I asked about job openings, the secretary who answered spoke in a very harsh and abrupt tone, as if I was inferior to her, and said that I should send a resume to them and if something came up that matched my background, they would let me know. Her tone said more than that: Even if a job does come in that matches your background, we could care less to call you back. I hung up and never called them back.

If you are a freelance graphic designer or creative talent, DO NOT work with Vanguard. I am a freelance graphic designer, having worked with several different freelance agencies in NYC this past year, and this company is absolutely the worst.
A supremely unprofessional company that failed to properly own up to their mistakes with positive solutions.
You have been warned.

Very unprofessional. The staffing agent I spoke with mumbled on about herself for 75% of the conversation rather than speaking with me and working on trying to find me a position. I’ve called her a couple of times and she was either out of the office or I was transferred to voicemail, also sent along a few emails, with no replies.
I say use another place. I think they have more applicants than opening positions which means it will probably take forever for you to get any work through them. I offer advice and encouragement that you should try a different agency.
