I live in the neighborhood and was excited to see this unique addition. Planned a girls night and made a reservation online for 8pm on a Saturday night, with plans elsewhere afterward. We show up, see a sign outside saying«closed for private party». What?! I walk inside and the host defensively tells me he «emailed me to cancel» no apology. I said, why did you allow me to make a reservation in the first place and i DEFINITELY did not get an email I triple checked! He was insistent. So, on a busy Saturday night we had to try three other local restaurants before finally snagging a table. Very frustrating, won’t give it another shot.

Really lovely décor! As a natural born Jamaican, I have to say the food isn’t authentic at all, it’s OK but it’s no Miss Lily’s. I had the pepper shrimp and it was neither the color of Jamaican pepper shrimp or spicy. And on top of it they don’t sell alcohol, which is really weird. The music however brings me right back to Kingston, Jamaica.

This place was fantastic! Really authentic Caribbean food with great service. This is a must for Murray Hill! Try the oxtail as it is excellent.

Oh my gosh l live a block away and have been walking past this place for weeks since it opened but finally went in! Got the restaurant week($ 35) menu fish tacos, rice and beans with oxtail and pie for dessert. My son 10 had the seafood pasta which was a little spicy but he loved it! I would definitely come here agin only thing is they don’t have a liquor license but should be getting one 28 days from now in March so that should make the place a little more lively as they have a bar in the back.

Truly a three-star experience, but I’m throwing them an extra star cause the place has heart and they’re new. The food was good — I’m not very familiar with West Indian cuisine so I can’t draw comparisons. It was good; not great. Service was very warm and accommodating but lacked the confidence you’d expect from a unique establishment with an upscale concept. The space is really nice; understated, inviting, chic. The lack of a cocktail menu is odd and definitely not helping them make their undoubtedly astronomical rent. I can see this place working really well as more of a bar/small plates place than a food-first restaurant. I wish them well!

Nicely decorated, beautiful light fixtures. Host was well dressed and polite, but was a bit too serious, could have smiled/welcomed better. Our server was very friendly, but wasn’t confident in his replies to our questions about the food. There was no drinks menu, we had to ask. Selection was very limited, so we stayed with water. Food menu is a bit limited in options, so I had high expectations. I don’t eat Caribbean often enough to comment on the food, but was good, not spectacular. There was no dessert menu either, we had to ask, and options were only Cheesecake or Key Lime Pie. That doesn’t sound inspiring, specially for a Caribbean restaurant! Their menu for delivery is outdated, has wrong information(website address; lunch menu is there but not available to order). Dinner for two, with one appetizer and no drinks included, was more than expected: $ 56.

I’m hardcore and I’m global… which means I love oxtail. Haven’t had good oxtail in a long time. Very solid option here. Also the roti(like a caribbean burrito) was very good. This all bony style, mon. You need to gnaw on bones and lick yo fingers… heaven. I bit pricy so only 4 stars but overall very good stuff.

It was New Year’s Eve @ around 7pm, my husband and I were coming from seeing Star Wars and were walking along 3rd Ave in Kip’s Bay in search of an Early Dinner. And there it was, a brand new Place to Eat. We checked the Memu and saw Jerk Chicken and Decided to go for it. The service was Amazing, the Food was Fantastic !!! I can’t say enough about this Place. Having gone to Jamaica on our Honeymoon 20 years ago and several other times before and after that, we loved the Bob Marley Music and really enjoyed our Evening. The Atmosphere was Awesome and The Food Was Authentic Carribean Cuisine. Price was very reasonable as well. We will be going back !!!

Delicious Caribbean food right in Murray hill. Have been a few times and haven’t had a bad meal yet. The jerk chicken is some of the best in NY and they have fantastic service. Will definitely be back soon.

I came here with three of my friends. Two of us had the ox tail, one had lamb, and I had the jerk chicken. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and exactly what we were looking for. They’re still working on their liquor license, so bare that in mind when you make plans to come here — no alcohol. Highly recommended and I will be back next time I am in town.

I wanted to like this place really bad but it did not work for me, there was no true Caribbean flavor in the food … I wanted to give it 2 stars

Went there last night for my birthday with four of my family and we all loved it. Started with several house cocktails, beers, & wine as well as several different appetizers — all fantastic. Four different entrees, several sides, and three desserts and all were delicious and perfectly prepared & presented. The service and every smiling employee we met — and they ALL were smiling made us feel like long-time regulars. For a new restaurant they really have their act together; even to the point of being sure we all had the right knives & forks after each course was finished and our plates, etc. were promptly taken away. Can’t wait to go back.

Food — absolutely delicious, ambiance — perfect, service — superb. There were five of us, each proclaiming our dish was the best. Excellent selection of creative drinks featuring a wide selection of rum. Walked in dancing — walked out dancing.

LOVED it here! So excited a new restaurant finally opened in this space(as it is right across the street from my apt). Steel Pan is still in the soft opening phase, the staff was in the process of meticulously training new employees, and fine tuning the service(although our waitress was awesome). However, from what I can tell, the food was completely ready for the opening — it was fantastic. Here is was we had — to start, we split the fish tacos, chicken tacos, jerk chicken wings, and the shrimp. My favorites were the chicken tacos and the shrimp. The appetizer portions were huge! For entrees we shared the plantains, jerk chicken, and oxtail — the mains were served with hefty sides of rice, and were awesome as well. For dessert, we split the lime pie and bread pudding(both good, but the lime pie was my pick!). The food was great, having Caribbean cuisine in Murray Hill is so exciting, and the staff was warm and welcoming! I cannot wait to come back!
