Specialties

Coming To Therapy Is A Sign Of Strength. For over 30years my NYC psychotherapy practice has specialized in the treatment of relationships; individuals & couples. My silver hair acquired experience comes from my on-going dedication& commitment to help people learn how to better COPE & communicate their differences. After providing a safe, comfortable & trusting relationship in my office, we go on to learn about the work needed for change that only you can do. From my interactive & reality based approach, the blending of insight, honesty, motivation, and a good use of hummer; remarkable changes can occur. You may choose an Upper West Side or Midtown office location to do this work. Take this invitation to contact me.

History

Established in 1985.

My foundation into the field of mental health began in 1974 while working for 11 years in Psychiatry at the best teaching hospital in NYC. From my year’s working with the Inpatient population & Day Hospital treatment population; my Masters of Social Work degree was acquired. My experience treating people with emotional problems then began. In the ensuing 5 years as a junior therapist & while getting Institute Training, becoming a substance abuse treatment specialist, an employee assistance provider, and working with NYC couples; a well rounded therapist began to take form. My private practice business began in 1990 and has satisfyingly continued to date. Along with on– going supervision, workshop trainings &professional conferences, my effectiveness continues to grow. Helping other’s learn how to better COPE has become what I am all about.

Meet the Business Owner

Steven C.

Business Owner

Having been born in the middle of America, Nebraska, my early development formed around living in 4 different states. By 1972, the upper westside of Manhattan became my new home. This city has accepted & embraced me. For now, I cannot leave. My mother is Austrian, my psychological roots are Freudian, and my last name is Cope; I had to become a therapist. It has been one of my greatest pleasures in my life to be married and to be raising 3 wonderful children in this city. The two youngest are adopted at birth and bring on there own unique challenges of childhood development. We often laugh about our United Nations family and home life;Jewish, White, Hispanic, Afro-American, and half Austrian ageing hippie. From this diverse family background and from the wide variety of ethnic mixes that I have treated in NYC, my experiences have shown me that my sensitivity allows me to work well with anyone who comes into my office.
