Root canals are never pleasant. I’ve had 2 since I’ve been in NY. Each one has been performed by Steven Kaplan. The guy seriously knows what he is doing and inspires immense confidence. He won’t let you down. Couldn’t recommend a better Endodontist.

All the raves are true. Dr. Kaplan is the man for complicated root canal issues. A couple of years ago, I woke up with a bizarre bump on my gum and I called my dentist. He quickly referred me to Dr. Kaplan and he fixed a rather complicated problem with a tooth to which a root canal was done years ago. Without him, I could have lost my tooth. Moreover, he had me visit him several times in the following years with no extra charges so he could make sure the tooth was healed properly. What a caring doctor he is! He is what Japanese call «the mirror» (i.e. an ideal one should strive to reach) of all doctors.

I have had a root canal problem for over a year. I was scared of going to a dentist because I was very afraid and anxious. I would go to a dentist and then chicken out of getting the root canal done. Finally, I filled out a form on ZocDoc and before you know it Dr. Kaplan called me himself. He relaxed me and scheduled an appointment for me at his office. From our very first meeting to my root canal procedure tonight, Dr Kaplan catered to my needs as a patient and gave me a feeling that he is truly my friend.
You can pinch me and I will brag about the pain. So you can only imagine how afraid I must have been tonight for my root canal. Dr Kaplan serviced me in a way that not only throughout the procedure I was calm, relaxed, laughing but most of all I was PAIN FREE! I was relaxed with him like I am with my own family.
I cannot stress enough that Dr Kaplan is a «one in a million» type of Doctor. If you are afraid and want excellent quality Dental Care go to no other than Dr Kaplan. He is truly an amazing professional that cares for his patients.

The only bad thing about Dr. Kaplan is he is so good he is busy and scheduling can be tricky. He is absolutely pain free– an excellent expert in root canal and in more than 5 – 6 canals I have never felt pain. He dispatches you with meds and calls to follow up if you’re in pain— even on weekends. I love that he lets me choose the music we listen to during the procedure and that he has tons funny if corny jokes. He is a jewel of a professional in a less than desireable dental service. Go to no one else, seriously. Speak to his great receptionist, Lavinia, and let the doctor and his fabulous staff take perfect care of you.

I can say nothing negative about my experience having a root canal done earlier today. Aside from the fact that he fit me in at a time that was convenient for me, he made sure that k really did need the root canal as I was referred by a general dentist.
During my procedure he let me choose the music and Dr. Kaplan and the assistant were joking around the whole time making it seem like a lot less stressful environment for me, the patient. To top it all off, he called me tonight to make sure I was doing alright and in no pain. He is great, would recommend him to anyone!!!

Dr Kaplan does the most perfect and efficient work and it’s amazingly pain free. He is top notch and I trust him implicitly! Besides being a great dentist, he is a caring and charming individual. I wouldn’t say I like having a root canal but the experience with Dr Kaplan is stellar.

Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Jacob are fantastic! My first root canal was originally done by a different office about 3 years prior to my visit to Dr. Kaplan’s office. I did not get a crown back then, and so my root canal tooth was open for those 3 years. Late last summer, I saw Dr. Jacob, whom I was scheduled to get a re-​treatment with three weeks later (tooth seemed fine).
Unfortunately, I was in a lot of pain a couple days after that appointment (had an infection that was apparently dormant and checking it set it off). Dr. Jacob was away when this happened, but Dr. Kaplan saw me immediately and proceeded to perform an emergency root canal. I had a three-​week vacation set for right after that procedure and during those three weeks, my molar was just fine! No agony, no pain, nothing. When I got back, Dr. Kaplan finished my root canal and I was on my way. It has been about six months since the procedure and I’m in the process of getting a crown from a different office, since they do not offer those. Thanks so much to Dr. Kaplan for being a vacation (and life) saver.
One last thing, the dental assistant was also really lovely. Her name escapes me, but she was there during all three of my visits. Overall, my experience at Dr. Kaplan’s office was as wonderful as it gets for such a dread-​inducing procedure.

Dr. Kaplan is a fantastic Endodontist !
I was in a desperate need of a root canal procedure and he managed to find some room in his schedule to see me the same day.
I had an infection, Dr. Kaplan scheduled two visits. First the root canal procedure which went very well, I was released of the pain the next day. A few weeks later, he saw me again to check if the infection was gone and proceed to seal the root canal. He told me that this time I would not need an anesthesia, so I trusted him and he was right, the procedure was completely painless.
Nobody in his office tried to sell me restauration and especially crowns that did not need…
My point is that Dr. Kaplan really cares about giving you the best care and that is very rare unfortunately.
He does not mind taking more time to really resolve your problem.
This is truly a very good experience.
I strongly recommend him.

I don’t know where to start. I woke up one day and my mouth was swollen and the next day it wasn’t any better. Dr. Kaplan saw me right away and determined I needed an immediate root canal — the procedure was more or less painless considering what was actually going on in my mouth and he was considerate with the billing as I am in-​between jobs and have no insurance. I also had to redo my follow up visit a few times and his staff was also pleasant to work with.
I am really grateful to Dr. Kaplan — he was available, efficient, and painless — flexible with the follow up and didn’t kill me with the billing. Five stars are not enough.

Absolutely the best! Dr. Steven Kaplan was recommended to me over 20 years ago, and I would not go to anyone else, period. He has all the qualities that I admire, devoted, conscientious, caring, no airs about him, honest, sense of humor. He always make sure that the root canal is done to perfection, checking and rechecking. The office staff is always very pleasant and accommodating which is very important to me. Recently I made an afternoon appointment on short notice and I asked the secretary to let me know if an earlier one becomes available that day. She contacted me a few times and was able to move me up which worked so much better for me, especially because I live in Brooklyn.

Dr. Kaplan was absolutely phenomenal. Unlike many other medical specialists, he offered to adjust his schedule so that he could see me immediately. I was admittedly a bit nervous, as I’ve heard some horror stories about root canals. Dr. Kaplan performed extensive testing to verify that the procedure was even necessary, then talked me through the process in a very informative and comforting way. He plays your choice of music throughout the procedure and stays engaged with you to ensure that there is no discomfort or concern. And the root canal was completely painless! Dr. Kaplan is a wonderful endodontist and a great person; I would recommend him to anyone in an instant.

Dr. Kaplan is not only an artist of the root canal, he is a truly nice man.
I went to him in serious pain with a tooth another oral surgeon said was calcified and so not eligible for a root canal. Dr. Kaplan disagreed and has saved the tooth.
I am probably pathologically afraid of the dentist and do not enjoy pain. The treatments have been practically pain free. It is amazing. I cannot recommend him enough.

We were in New York on holiday and my son was in a lot of pain we called Dr Kaplans office at 5.30 on Friday night and the very next morning Dr Matt saw my son for a root canal at 9.30am. Absolutely the best service and professionalism the whole team was fantastic. If we lived in New York rather than Australia Dr Matt would be our regular dentist. Had to go for another root canal, and this time I went straight to Dr. Kaplan. While other endodontists were quick to recommend a root canal, Dr. Kaplan’s office did a thorough exam before determining the next steps. The procedure went smoothly in two sittings (no unreasonable wait times!!), Dr. Kaplan keeps checking on you, even late in the evening. Music of your choice during the procedure!

5 Stars are not nearly enough for Dr. Kaplan. I will start off with my Root Canal from hell!
To say the Root Canal was complicated is the understatement of all time. First off, it was a trifurcated root, and on top of that the nerves went every which way (clearly, why wouldn’t they!?). Dr. K came highly recommended from my general dentist who was confident that he could perform such a complicated surgery.
Needless to say nerves were running high on Root Canal day. The only way I could get to Dr. K’s office was after work, so he stayed open late and started on this beast at 7:00PM. Straight away Dr. Kaplan eased my frazzled nerves (the ones in my head, not my teeth). He walked me through the procedure step by step going into great detail on the X-​Rays.
As far as the actual procedure, it was a relative breeze! Dr. K is a music lover and has a seemingly infinite playlist, he’s sure to have some tracks that will calm your nerves and make the procedure seem like more of a social call than a Root Canal.
Now for the Post-Op…being the complete dunce that I am, I missed my follow up appointment, one month became two…6 months later and amazingly Dr. K’s temporary bond was still going strong!
At this point my neglect & procrastination had of course led the canals to become recontaminated, (cue super hero theme)…Dr. K to the rescue!!! He had me back in and painstakingly redid all the work, and charged me all of $ 0.00!
On top of all that he always made sure I had his cell phone, home phone, office phone and several dedicated messenger pigeons just in case all else failed.
Very long story short… for any and all Endodontic needs, and some kick-​but tracklists, Dr. Kaplan is your man!

I mistook this for the wrong office and made a bad review meant for the dentist Daniel Kaplan at 200 Central Park West.

I had to get an emergency root canal and I called Dr. Kaplan’s office to ask about an appointment ASAP.
First of all, he personally talked to me over the phone and told me straight up it was not going to be cheap and that every case was different, he couldn’t do an estimate right away. Then he arranged me to see his associate since he was all booked for that day.
I was taken care by Dr. Jakob the next morning. He was fantastic and had a great energy, I trusted him immediately. Dr. Jakob and his assistant were very nice and made sure I was ok the whole time.
It was painless. I promise not even the anesthesia injections hurt. It was amazing. He has great hands and a ton of patience.
I would recommend this to anybody who needs a root canal.
He called me later that night to make sure I was feeling ok.

I had severe tooth pain for 5 days and finally went to see my dentist who took an x-​ray and said that I had no cavities and said that I either needed a root canal or had a sinus infection. She prescribed antibiotics and sent me on my way after booking an appointment with the in-​house endodontist for two weeks away. The pain was so bad the next day that I started googling for endodontists who would take my insurance and found Dr. Kaplan. Thank goodness!
Pros:
— Dr. Kaplan will see you the same day as you call and will do everything he can to get you out of pain as soon as possible.
— Nice (and entertaining) staff
— Plays music during the procedure (and asks you what you would like to hear)
— Doesn’t do everything in one visit to give your jaw a break
— Works quickly and makes sure you are comfortable and in no pain (he will crack jokes and also tell you what he’s doing if that helps for you)
— His staff makes sure to utilize your insurance so that you pay as little as possible
— Dr. Kaplan texted me and called me after I left after my initial procedure to see how I was feeling (I’m a crier, I can’t help it)
— Great location (at least for me, I live in Midtown)
Cons:
— The wait time can be long as Dr. Kaplan is trying to fit everyone is as soon as possible. The first time I went I waited for almost 2 hours. But then the second time I came on the wrong day and he fit me in. So it balances out I guess!
I hope to never see him again just so I don’t have to have another root canal but know if I do, I will definitely head back to Dr. Kaplan and his team.

What a Rockstar! Thanks to Dr. Kaplan my root canal experience was painless & not scary. I actually fell asleep in the chair for a couple of minutes. Astonishing. He also
gave me a reduction in price from his regular fee which was as much a welcomed relief as being free from my tooth pain. It is nice to know that someone out there can be flexible.
