Strokos Gourmet Deli

I am right across the street, for the most part during the weekdays, everything is OK. Yet I work Saturday & every time I order something, they get it wrong. This is mostly due to the kid that takes the orders, he doesn’t care & doesn’t take his time to take an order, he is rude as well, tries to get you off the phone quick. Even when I ask him to repeat the order, they still get it wrong, for instance, today I asked for egg whites & I got regular eggs & after I asked him to repeat the order. This has happened to me every weekend since I started working weekends. As some other said, I buy there because its convenient. There prices are a little steep as well. The food for the most part is pretty good though… If they can get the weekend worked out, I think everything would be better.

When I’ve gotten out of the hospital I’ve gone there the prices are expensive the hamburgers are supposedly grilled but there really burned they have a variety of food decent food.

A bit of a step up from the standard NYC deli. There’re sandwiches, wraps, and salads, then also grab-​and-​go sushi, pizza, and hot bar options. I stopped by to pick up dinner on a weekday evening, about 5:30pm, and there was no line. Had the entrée with two sides plate from the hot food bar: pork with salsa verde, rice, and corn (~$ 12). The flavors were relatively mild, but tasty, and the portions were big enough that I got two meals out of the plate. I’d order it again.

Two dollar card minimum.

This place is overpriced with not-​so-​great food. Gets traffic only because of it’s proximity to Columbia. Except for one or two things that I tried, nothing special. I’d avoid it unless someone else really wants to go.

I love Strokos! I eat here almost everyday and I’m never disappointed. The pork ribs in green sauce (puerco con salsa verde) is one of my favorite dishes (see photo). I seriously don’t know why they have such a low rating when they have a plethora of options.
Yes, they are a little pricey on certain items, but overall this place is great which is why I keep returning.
They get really packed in the AM and lunch time.

Loud mouthed nasty construction workers cursing aloud 4 letter words abound in the air, average customer –seem most welcomed + comfortable here: a reflection of the staff + ownership apparently. Surprizingly. as geographic location serves both St Lukes + Columbia Universitys’ professional community.
We went there as it was open so early 5: 30 Although, Columbia University has a catering relationship here. it’s just a unwelcoming sleazy untrusting dirty place,

Strokos is an average deli/​hot food restaurant basically on the Columbia campus. I haven’t gone there for a sit-​down meal, but have ordered pizza from there several times for large groups, and I highly recommend them for delivery. Their delivery is prompt and the pizza is always warm. I also really like the pizza — not too thin or oily with a good ratio of cheese/​sauce/​toppings. I’d particularly recommend the buffalo chicken pizza and the white ricotta & mozzarella pizza. Their pizza is a bit more expensive than some other nearby options but if you want good, fast, and reliable pizza it’s a safe option.

Strokos is fantastic. Chicken broco is to die for. I go to Columbia Business School and we love it so much we made a video about it! Thanks so much for everything.

Ordered via seamless and Strokos was the fastest delivery I’ve had to Columbia thus far (and I’m sad to say I seamless quite a bit while studying on campus). So grateful my burger arrived as quick as it did since I was ravenous. I ordered the southwestern burger with a black bean spread for only 50¢ more, quite the bargain!
I like my meat medium, but I’ve learned to order it medium rare so that I actually have hope of seeing some pink, and guess what? Strokos actually made my patty medium rare! Which, I’ll admit, is a little too rare for my liking, but the important part is they actually listen whereas most restaurants, that are nicer than Strokos, always over cook my meat. Anyhoo, the burger hit the spot and I’ll be ordering from them again in the near future for sure.
Also as far as pricing goes, Strokos is actually quite reasonable given it’s NYC. Their prices are comparable — scratch that — competitive with everything else on seamless in the morningside hts area (well besides Roti Roll, but nothing can beat their prices).

SUB-​PAR OVERPRICED FOOD.
Its convenient for me to run and grab a quick lunch here If I don’t have enough time to go anywhere else. Everything is overpriced and tastes bland. The pizza tasted like paper. There sausage has no taste. There sandwiches are overpriced. A lot of people eat here because its the perfect location from the hospital ie: right across the street.
There salad will run you at least ten dollars, depending what you put in it could be more.
The only thing I will eat here are the blueberry muffins which aren’t amazing, chicken Caesar spinach wrap, and the breakfast sandwiches on occasion. I refuse to eat the chicken Caesar spinach wrap that is in the display so I always ask them to make me a fresh one with hot chicken which ends up being really good but not great for the price point.
They have a salad bar, pasta bar, and pizza. they also have plates which they can put hot food such as chicken, potatoes, etc. Is it worth it absolutely not. That will run you at least 8 – 12 dollars which is fine if they brought quality. They opened a new sushi station which is kind of eh. Not being a fan of sushi and can only be an observer my coworker was running to the bathroom after eating it so I think not. I mean there is a lot of Japanese. and other places nearby that make sushi why go to a «gourmet deli»?
Try to make some extra time and make your way to Broadway where the selection will increase, or Hamilton deli down the block for a more reasonably priced sandwich.
Service is whatever, Credit card, swipe, sign, goodbye.

Over $ 8 for a omelette platter with home fries and toast? That’s a bit much considering the going rate for omelette platters in similar establishments is no more than $ 5. I’ve had the chicken ranchero omelette a few times over the past year and a half, and the portion size has gotten much smaller. The home fries are pretty good, but not good enough to account for how much extra I’m paying.
The breakfast prensadas sound cool on paper, but are literally just a bagel with some nominal amount of cheese and meat, heated in a panini press. The ham and cheese prensada had a single slice of american cheese and a couple slices of ham… and cost over $ 6.
Also, a $ 2 delivery fee on Seamless was instituted sometime earlier this year, out of the blue. I have no idea whether that is going to the delivery guys or going in the pockets of the owners. Prior to the delivery fee, I’d pay a $ 2 tip. Now that that’s the delivery fee, I can’t bring myself to tip that same amount, if anything at all. I’d essentially be paying $ 4.00 extra on top of an $ 8 omelette platter. They must make it CLEAR to customers where this new delivery fee is going. Until then, I’m reluctant to order because I’m always going to wonder if I’m shortchanging the delivery guy by not adding an extra tip. (Note that the delivery guys come by bike, not by car, so the fee can’t be going toward gas.)

Employee (male) behind the counter very rude. Asked to make me a sandwich, repeated three times and then the employee asked another Co worker to make it. Asked him why he wasn’t making it, didn’t have an answer. Will not go back, rather walk to Broadway.

I just called to have an order delivered (approx $ 20), the same thing I’ve had delivered at least a dozen other times, yet today when I gave the woman my address (9 blocks away) she said «Wow, I hope its a big order!» I told her I wanted a salad, sandwich and a soda and she said «I only have 3 delivery guys today, you’re going to have to spend at least $ 25 for me to send them that far!» (Under a half mile is ‘that far’?)
What is the point of offering delivery if they won’t go nine blocks for under $ 25 in NYC?!
I’ve been a Strokos customer (in person and delivery) for over ten years… until today! I’ll find a more accomodating place eight blocks away.

I went here for the first time for a late lunch. The place has a wide selection of pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and panini, make your own sushi, breakfast items, and pastries. The variety of options and the large seating area makes it the perfect place to come with a large group of people.
However, in comparison to other restaurants in the area, it did not impress. With that said, given the price point, food was adequate, but did not see anything that was truly gourmet or high quality.
3 stars for convenience, affordability, and selection.

Strokos catering is the best! Faysal is perhaps one of the friendliest, kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Their prices are very reasonable for catering orders. He’s called me with any questions or concerns about the order and has been on point and delivered in a timely manner. I would definitely consider ordering from here for an office event!

Strokos is really good for breakfast sandwiches and iced coffees. I occasionally go when I’m in a rush because they are quicker than Starbucks! That said, it is kind of pricey for what they offer. I paid about 8 dollars for a breakfast sandwich and a drink.
Their quality makes up for the prices though. I can always count on a good sandwich when going to Strokos!

I dislike most salads/​find them unsatisfying, but the salad bar at Strokos is amazing. I get a salad there almost every day. I would also recommend their breakfast sandwiches and paninis. It’s not a place for a special occasion, but it’s fast, and you can get healthy and pretty tasty food, so it’s a great everyday place (for those of us who don’t cook much).
Everyone there is also super nice – the people manning the salad bar, grill, sandwiches, etc., and the cashiers.
Also, in the days when I used Seamless, Strokos was the most reliably good and fast delivery service.

I work across the street and I have been coming here for two years now. What can I say about Strokos? It’s alright, plain and simple. If you order any of the dinner platters or burgers, the meat is always over cooked but it still tastes alright. At the same time, it’s quite pricey for what you get and they charge for every little thing. Their customer service is nothing special either.
Having said that, I still go. There’s not many options around here, and of the few that there are Strokos is up there.
