Sushi Para Japanese Restaurant

Best Sushi ever, no doubt there! Everything was so fresh and delicious, made on the spot! The only thing that wasn’t so good was the service! The staff wasn’t friendly at all and barely talked to us (more than necessary)! Other thing: don’t order their desserts! Worst ever! They shouldn’t offer it in the menu at all, as they’re horrible! Overall: Great for a sushi meal, affordable price for all you can eat (25 $ at dinner) but not the best service I’ve seen :)

Really great sushi delivery at reasonable price! I got the two roll dinner special and it is EASILY two meals. Two eight piece rolls (special ones too!) plus six pieces of salmon and tuna nigiri plus a salad with the tastiest ginger dressing. Such s deal and very high quality fish. Arrived right on time and I’ll definitely be ordering again!!!

Ordered delivery — I live in lower spanish harlem and it’s hard to find good sushi delivery up here! I got 3 roll dinner for $ 25 which included two pieces of fish and an app. Food came fast and my gosh it was so good!!! Very happy with the presentation and quality of food. I will definitely order again. I got the vegetable gyoza as the app and it was SO GOOD! Rolls were: Mountain Roll, Pop Up Roll, & Alaska. Everything was DELISH! Can’t wait to order again.

Updating this to five stars, as I recently did AYCE sushi here again, this time with a bigger group of people. The five of us sat at a circular table that was very conducive to talking (there is only one in the restaurant but it usually is reserved for larger groups, and most people who come to the restaurant seem to be in pairs). The salmon rolls were delicious– I mostly enjoyed the simple rolls and tried to not eat too many special rolls as those fill you up faster and have big quantities of sauce/​mango etc. They charged for spicy mayo and a corkage fee, but totally worth it for a big bottle of wine. Service a little slow but worth the wait for the cheapest deal in town!

Don’t go to this place! Service is terrible. We had to wait 35 minutes and no one offered us anything to drink. The waiting time for the food we ordered was 30 minutes and the waitress forgot the appetizer, sushi is average, house wine is awful. Better take a hot dog in the street.

Sushi Para is probably of the things I miss the most about living on the UES. Seriously. Do the $ 25 All-​You-​Can-​Eat Special. Trust me.

I loved my first visit. But the 2^nd visit was just bad. It was like they began to see red on their ledger and decided to change things around by giving you mass quantities of rice.
These guys really stuffed the sushi with heaping amounts of rice. With the 3 hand rolls I ordered and the 8 pieces of salmon sushi, I must have eaten 4 bowls of rice.
I get they want to stuff you full of inexpensive stuff but c’mon… How can you expect patrons to come out feeling good when all they eat is rice.

I was a little fishy about the fish there (no pun intended), but the quality of the food served there spoke for itself. Everything was fresh and well-​made/​presented, from the rolls, sushi, sashimi to the kitchen food.
Service was quick and professional.
I also like the fact that they are BYOB with a $ 3 corkage fee which is more than fair in Manhattan.
I will sure come back and say hello to the gracious host Andy.

was skeptical of $ 25 ayce sushi. but the quality was not bad at all. certainly not as bad as the ayce buffet joints in queens… many options for cooked appetizers as well.
we ordered sushi instead of rolls. but beware, the sushi are rice heavy…
the byob option is awesome tho. $ 3 for wine or sake bottles.

AYCE $ 25 was the only reason for a 3 star. Sushi was ok, a little too much rice but the fish was fresh and rolls were pretty good.
Service was very very slow, and byob was an interesting novel concept.
Would I return? Probably not, I’d probably try all the other ayce sushi places before coming back. I probably should quit ayce sushi altogether.

Sushi Para is probably the best thing that’s happened to me ever since I moved to UES. $ 25 for AYCE sushi AND it’s BYOB (with corkage fee of $ 3 for wine and $ 1 for beer).
The restaurant itself isn’t too large. There’s probably 8 – 10 4 person tables and 10 seats at the sushi bar. I can see it getting packed and have long wait times. Think Chinese people own this place — the waitresses are super nice!
Now of course the reason why you’re here is for the $ 25 AYCE sushi. Here are the choices and what I recommend:
— appetizers (their gyozas and shumai were addicting, and good palate cleansers)
— nigiri sushi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail)
— sushi rolls (alaska roll, snow crab avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and you can make anything a hand roll!)
— special sushi rolls (pop up roll, volcano roll, so many good options but IMO they all end up tasting the same)
They put a LOT of rice in the nigiri sushi, so definitely don’t over order those. However, the sushi rolls had the perfect amount of rice — just enough to coat the seaweed wrapping. The rice itself was soft and did not fall apart when picked up.
I was really surprised how fresh the fish was, considering this is an AYCE restaurant. The salmon was soft and buttery. Nobody had to make unpleasant trips to the bathroom afterwards (well, not cause of the fish quality anyway).
I think if you order enough food, IT COMES OUT ON A BOAT!!! This made me so happy.
Unfortunately, dessert isn’t included. But you’re here to eat your weight in salmon, not green tea ice cream.
TIP: If you’re looking for the salmon avocado roll, order the Alaska roll, which is salmon, avocado, and cucumber.
TIP2: They have 10% off discount cards at the front so be sure to grab one and use on your next visit!

Stopped by here while I was in upper eastside with a friend and did AYCE sushi. The fish tasted fresh, and I loved all the rolls we got (we got a lot so I honestly can’t really remember which was which unfortunately). We got an order of the takoyaki (which came out as 3 balls), and I thought that there wasn’t very much octopus in each of the balls. It was mainly breading (?). I thought the atmosphere there was pretty quiet and good for conversation/​catching up with someone. The service was good.

Really great spot for sushi and definitly coming back! The prices are really affordable, the fish is fresh and the customer service is on point! They have a unlimited sushi or sashim/​rolls for only $ 25!!! You cant really beat that. Only catch is you have to eat everything off your plate or you will pay for the leftovers you did not eat so dont overorder.
Cant wait to return!

I love deals, doesn’t everyone loves deals!!! This place is the epitome of deals. $ 20 at lunch (weekdays only) for all you can eat sushi!!! This is almost unheard of. The sashimi is obviously not going to be the most fresh and amazing but it’s decent enough! The rolls are pretty good but I’m not a huge roll person. I prefer sashimi. However, for the unlimited, decent sushi I give this place 5 stars. Additionally, you can get small appetizer dishes too, like edamame or miso soup or grilled squid, etc. The service was also splendid.
If you go in the evenings or weekends it’s $ 25 but lunch on the weekdays is only $ 20.
The way this place works is you get a paper menu and you mark the quantity of the different stuff you want. You can always order more after you finish too. Also, I think that there’s a charge if you don’t finish what you ordered. But that wasn’t a problem for me so I don’t know what that process looks like if you have leftovers. Overall, this place has great deals!!! For pretty decent sushi. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re really hungry and in the mood for some sushi!

I’m new to the city and I’ve been dying to have a good all-​you-​can-​eat experience that is so readily available in southern california. This restaurant was part of an article of great ayce places in New York, though I am know questioning who wrote that article.(
– for your reference, but most places don’t have the best reviews so it’s on your own risk to try!!)
I was surprised they took reservations, so I jumped at the chance, knowing that we had a group of 7. Once there, I was surprised at the limited menu that was offered on the ayce. You have the typical sashimi, which is still labeled as «sushi», and 10 – 15 other fancy rolls that were basically all spicy tuna or shrimp tempura rolls. Then the problems began…
1. SLOW. do NOT come here hungry cause you will pass out before you get your food! We waited over an hour for our first boat to come. We learned to order for our next round basically right after our first round just to have (only) a 25 min break in between finishing boat 1 and receiving boat 2.
2. Not fresh. I havent gotten sick (yet!) but the sashimi was so WARM and mushy by the time we got to eat it.
3. $ 1 for leftovers includes RICE!!! The most ridiculous rule I have ever heard of. Not only do they add an entire mouthful of rice for sashimi, the rice even breaks apart the second we tried to pick up the pieces! Because of that, we just started eating whatever rice we could even grab per roll (which ended up to be 1/3−½ of what was given) and the waitress came at the end of the meal claiming we’re charged for each half piece that is left. Make your rice better, give us less, and then that can be a reasonable claim to make.
Not coming back. Only gave 2 stars if you are on a very limited budget and come here when you’re not hungry. cause you will be by the time you get your food! (Oh and fyi the grilled squid was only appetizer that was good)

This is the slowest restaurant I’ve ever been in. I thought the purpose of all you can eat is that you feed your guests as fast as possible and get them out of here. I’ve been here for an hour and have only been served 1 plate of sushi and a salad.
The fish isn’t very fresh (chewy and definitely been frozen), soy sauce is extremely salty (not sushi soy sauce) and no sashimi (requires additional cost). Ive never been in a ayce sushi place that doesn’t serve sashimi as part of the meal. The sushi they make falls apart easily, it makes me think they aren’t making their rice properly or just not using sushi rice.
Very disappointing experience.
