Good when you have a craving for quick, cheap tacos. But I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Place is not an enjoyable experience; just go to chipotle or an authentic Mexican restaurant. Food was my well made(even for cheap food). They messed up the order(chicken instead of beef) and refused to remake it because three bites were taken out of it. Forgot guacamole and were completely unhelpful. Also they don’t wear gloves or anything I preparing their food. Just avoid.

This place has non authentic Mexican food however the price makes it really worth it. My fiancé is Mexican so I was biassed going into it. That being said sometimes you just have to order a whole bunch of food if the moment feels right. After a night of drinking nothing is better then greasy Tacos.

I received a poorly wrapped burrito today as a delivery meal. Not only is the presentation lacking, it tastes a bit liquid. There was more rice than ground beef — should’ve been called a rice burrito. It was a good deal, but I will not be ordering from them again, at least not a burrito.

This place is heaven. Any day when I’ve gone for a run and wanna treat myself like a king, I hit up those nachos, a taco and a little quesadilla action. Taco Today, will you marry me?

You simply cannot beat the price or the portions. I typically order the beef burrito which goes for $ 6. Guacamole is great, it has a lemony taste.

great little no-frills takeout joint. Definitely not authentic Mexican, but it’s tasty, fresh, and the workers are friendly. The chicken tacos are particularly good, and cheap as well. Good when you want a cheap, light(ish) meal, fast.

Whole in the wall tex-mex for really cheap. I was extremely skeptical of this place but my girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot. The quality of the food isn’t the best, but for the price it is better than we expected. We ordered a steak burrito and chicken burrito and we enjoyed them. This place is great if you need a cheap meal. There are few places you can go and get a meal for under $ 10 bucks in NYC. This place is one of them.

Before ordering i was a little nervous about what i was getting myself into. The place isnt the prettiest(meaning its a bit run-down) but its quick, cheap and delicious! Perfect for take-out. I ordered a steak burrito, my boyfriend got the chicken burrito and then we got 2 soft chili tacos. The steak was so good, full of flavor, and there was no fat at all! Suprising for a cheap taco place… The chicken in the chicken burrito wasnt white meat but was still very tasty. I didnt even get to eat my taco until the next day because i was so full from the huge burrito!!! I couldnt believe the portion size for the price. You usually cant find big portions for that cheap on the UES. Im not saying the place is anything like cascabel taqueria, but its a whole lot better than taco bell! I would say it fits perfectly in between the two. The best part was the satisfying feeling afterwards, with no belly ache!!! this is my new favorite taco spot, and i would definitely recommend if your looking for a yummy cheap lunch.

Not good. Slop. Not ran by anyone of any kind of Latino or Hispanic heritage. I am a top notch foodie and I have eaten at many taco stands and this is the worst by far. If these people attempted to run an Italian restaurant their spaghetti would probably be made with ketchup as tomato sauce. On the other hand if you’re out and about and drunk as a skunk it just might pass as drunken munchies.

You know those D-Bags from LA who are all, «there is no good Mexican food in NYC» blah blah, blah. Well, my apologies in advance, so being that guy from LA who bitches about Mexican food… This place is legit. The best I’ve had? No way. Will I be ordering delivery again? Damn straight. Cheap good Mexican food when you need that fix.

4 stars for it being the closes thing to an authentic bean and cheese burrito(soft taco) I’ve had since moving to NYC. I am Mexican and from El Paso, TX which borders MX… So NYC and this black bean craze has definitely been a let down lol This little hole in the wall is not the best but damn close and cheap!

Just ordered grilled shrimp lunch special and guacamole as an appetizer. They brought food pretty fast, but… NO appetizer plus the shrimps were not even cleaned! So gross!

Disgusting. Tried the shrimp burrito and steak burrito. There are so many authentic Mexican places nearby — and the owners are not of Spanish descent. The salsa was like red water, the sour cream tasted old, and it was the most Americanized, dry Mexican food(if you can call it that) that I’ve ever had. PASS!!!

I work at the animal hospital nearby and can always count on quick steak fajitas for a cheap lunch. Really good, never fatty and always served nice and hot. Definitely worth the $ 2.40 have never had to worry about an achy tummy after.

Hole in the wall good place! Taco’s are always fresh when you order. Meat and toppings are fresh. I like the steak taco’s with there salsa, beef is marinated and tender. If they only made breakfast taco’s it would feel like a little place in downtown San Antonio, TX.

A Taco Today menu showed up in my apartment building lobby and I decided to give it a once over. I regularly give«Chinese Mexican» restaurants the side-eye and was a bit incredulous. I haven’t «enjoyed» this type of «cuisine» since being a youth in Brooklyn many moons ago, but this seemed like a decent and inexpensive weeknight option. With a friend over for drinks recently, we decided it was worth a try for delivery. We called in our order which included chicken fajitas and a chicken«Quesadilla Gigantie [sic]» and had our food in about a half hour. The chicken fajitas are one of the most expensive items on the menu(still under $ 10 though!) but you do get a lot of food for that price. It ended up being a large takeout container filled with rice, topped with a mix of chicken, peppers and onions and black beans and guacamole as well. I also received four tortillas in a foil wrapped on the side which were somewhat buttery and reminded me of chapatti, but not in a bad way. If I was a normal eater and had a reasonable appetite(which I don’t), this probably could’ve been halved and made into two meals(My friend said his quesadilla was great, too). For the value and fast in service, Taco Today is a very decent option for neighborhood takeout/delivery, and certainly more approachable than the more upmarket Mexican restaurants in the Upper East Side.

One could categorize this as haute fusion cuisine melding the flavors of Mexico with the Orient by Chinese chefs. But in reality, it’s a hole-in-the-wall takeout Chinese place where they make inexpensive but decent«Mexican» food in the form of chicken tacos and chicken quesadillas. I essentially stick with the hard shell grilled chicken tacos and Jack cheese and chicken quesadillas. I like the taste of the marinated chicken that is an Asian-style, Mexican taste. Occasionally I get a hard shell chili taco which isn’t bad. If you feel like getting pizza or take-out Chinese … but not really … then you should give this place a try. Probably a bit healthier than pizza or Chinese as well. Btw, I think the address is incorrect for this place. It is located on 1st ave between 86th and 87th.

I feel a bit strange going against the grain here but these tacos are good! I’m not one for delivery(I prefer to burn some calories getting my fatty take-out than to be a fatty and sit on the couch while I wait for my fatty food) so I’ve only taken out from here– never delivered. I’ve had tacos on multiple occasions– only the steak nothing else. Here’s what it is: flour tortilla(do they have corn? I don’t know. They do offer hard tacos if you’re into that), long-ish pieces of steak, lettuce, tomato and cheese, some not-so-good hot sauce on the side. That’s it. No frills. No fancy pineapple jalapeño sauce here. It’s literally a fast-food Chinese food take-out joint, gone Mexican. AY, AY, AY! No but really– steak is good; marinated and cooked surprisingly well. Flour tortilla is also good. Not chalky tasting– in fact, the cook puts them on a griddle and heats them up on both sides. He’s also smart enough to put the cheese on top of the steak so it actually melts over the steak and makes it yum, yum, yum. My tacos have never been greasy and I’ve never really had an issue otherwise. I really can’t vouch for the other things they sell. The rice doesn’t look promising and I’ve never seen the beans. ehk. Stick to the tacos. Besides, I enjoy them more than the Chipotle ones! GASP! Yeh– I said it. And they cost $ 2.29+each not $ 3.50+.

When you need fast and quick Mexican on the UES, this is the place to go. Highly recommend the tacos and burritos. This is no substitute for a sit down place like Maz Mezcal, but when you are in need of a quick fix, Taco Today won’t do you wrong.
