I love love love love the food here. Favorite dish: fried dumplings. I typically order shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken, and fried dumplings. Dishes are large, can usually feed 2, maybe even 3. Prices are great. Con: waiters/servers can be rude sometimes. I’ve recommended this place to a bunch of people, and they’ve all loved the food their.

Went here today with my father, the cottage is a very close walk to the natural museum of history. The staff was very friendly, and the food came out quickly especially considering the fact that it was busy. I ordered broccoli in brown sauce, and it was amazing, the portion was enough for leftovers! My father got chicken in black bean sauce and hot and sour soup and said it was delicious. Definitely a place we’d come back to.

Food: OK Service: Excellent Ambience: OK We stopped here of a late lunch on a Sunday. The reason we picked this place was it looked really cute and nice from the outside(like a cottage hence the name :)). I was a little disappointed on walking in, the cute charming feel got left at the door. I would give them 2 stars if it was not for the excellent service. The food was fresh but it was not very good. It is hard for me to describe but the food was not bad but the flavors were not satisfying. I always see them packed so maybe I was there on the wrong day or did not order the right things. I will probably give them one more try

I have ordered from here before and although the food isn’t great, it’s okay. I was passing by today and had a craving for something. The person at the desk didn’t understand my question about a certain dish. I was hoping that she would get someone who speaks better English. Nope. I gave up and all I ordered was a wonton/eggdrop combination which costs a little more than wonton alone. I got home and I had wonton soup with THREE very tiny wontons. No egg drop in there. I paid extra for nothing and it was the worst wonton soup I have ever had. I am not going back.

The waitress push me to give them 20% tips for a lunch! She wrote the tips, the total and just make me sign it! Don’t go this damn place.

The cottage has great Chinese food for a more than reasonable price. I have been going to the cottage since I was in elementary school. That’s 18 years and counting. Their food always tastes great, they are more than consistent. They also provide complimentary wine to accompany your meal. I love coming here. It’s quaint and the food is delicious.

If you love Chinese food and wine. This is the place to go. Had a lovely early dinner today with my friends. The free wine was great! I had the Shrimp Pad Thai. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! Can’t wait to come back.

It’s not a night out in NYC unless you stop by the Cottage! I’ve been making the trip from Queens for over 18 years now, and never get enough. The dumplings are perhaps the best I’ve ever had, and the menu has something for everyone. I’ve been recommending the restaurant to friends, peers and family for a long time, due to their excellent menu, fiendly, family oriented staff and fun dining environment.

This place was DELICIOUS. This was our first time at The Cottage and boy do I wish I could go back to NY to eat here again. All I wanted was gyoza, egg drop soup and an egg roll and it was the best gyoza, egg drop soup and egg roll I have eaten! The gyoza was so crisp on the bottom and had such yummy flavor. You can’t go wrong with egg drop soup but then holy moly the egg roll was huge! I loved that it was crispy but not crunchy. it was almost like a very good chewy consistency. My boyfriend ordered shrimp pad thai which I had never had. I took a bite of his and it was a flavor I have never tasted before. If I was more hungry I would have eaten more of his because it tasted so good. Staff was really sweet too, easy 5⁄5!

There was a baby cockroach cooked in my shredded beef when I went here. The appetizer was great. Then the main course came. Thank god I noticed the cockroach against the white rice before taking a bite(which was on its way to my mouth). I didn’t make a scene, but called over the waitress who of course didn’t make us pay. I won’t eat here again, unfortunately. I had high hopes, given its a pretty popular place.

Best Chinese delivery I have had so far on the UWS. Chef special crispy beef and scallion pancakes were great.

Mee Noodle is gone and I wanted an inexpensive hot meal — after reading positive reviews on Unilocal!I ordered from The Cottage. I’ve seen and smelled dog food that looked more appetizing than what showed up in my order. The beef & snow peas was inedible, tough as jerky and had zero flavor, zero. They even managed to mess up an egg roll. How do you mess up an egg roll? The wonton soup was edible in comparison to the rest of the order. Never again. The Cottage is garbage & that’s exactly where my $ 15 just wound up.

Best kept secret of the UWS. I almost don’t even want to tell you all about this place. Favorite Chinese in Manhattan. MUSTORDER: shrimp dumplings in peanut sauce/oil Black bean shrimp Orange beef, ask for it to be crispy Pan fried noodles are to die for Soft shell crab They serve you free wine, it’s Franzia in a box and I don’t care for it, but hey… It’s free wine. You won’t go anywhere else for your Chinese cuisine fix.

My daughter and I enjoyed their boiled dumplings and scallion pancakes. The pancakes came with a Type of peanut butter sauce which was delicious. We ordered through grub hub app and eight outside on the benches found on Broadway Avenue.

About the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. And that’s saying something because I’ve eaten LOTS of Chinese food from coast to coast. I’d give a specific description of why, but I just don’t have the heart. Enjoy at your own risk. [edit] 5 days later we took the uneaten food(which was most of it) and they unquestioningly gave a cash refund. So they get a star back for good service and the likelihood the kitchen was just having a bad day. Probably won’t go there again, but the restaurant was full of happy looking diners, so it’s probably ok.

My girlfriend said she was hungry and couldn’t wait to eat, we ordered direct, not through seamless. WOW!!! You have got to be kidding me. The delivery was fast as ever. Ten minutes after we hung up the phone our food was at the door. Seriously, we were timing it because we heard they were that fast. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Broc, Pork Fired Rice and Dumpling in peanut sauce. All food was very good and super hot, we loved it. I mean it’s not like on Mott Street but it’s also half the price and around the corner from where I live on the UWS. Something nice about eating Chinese food in bed Now, this was our first time ordering so it might be luck, but we’ll take it. Thanks Cottage.

Damn. These people are FAST. Once we ordered over the phone and it took them less than 15 minutes after the call to deliver the food. I’m pretty sure they can fly. My cousins like to order from here because the dumplings are pretty awesome. Also I had friends, who have lived here since the 90s, talk nostalgically about how there was a Cottage near columbia that also served free wine. They would bring the freshmen over there, and they would all get drunk. Ah. Fun. My office now regularly orders from here since it’s so cheap /fast.

Ok so this review may be heavily influenced by the fact that this place serves unlimited white wine for free! Yeah, it’s cheap boxed wine, but I’m a college student, so I have grown accustom to it haha. Not only was the free wine awesome, but the food we had was awesome as well. There was 3 of us and we shared the Szechuan dumplings, chow fun with shrimp, chicken with three different nuts, and the mixed Chinese vegetables. I have been craving their Szechuan dumplings since I left. They were in a delicious peanut sauce with hot oil. We contemplated getting another order, they were that addictive. I used the leftover sauce to pour over the white rice that came with our entrees… such a good decision. The chicken with three different nuts was definitely my next favorite. The glazed walnuts were my favorite part and added some sweetness to the dish. I didn’t have much of the chow fun but the mixed Chinese vegetables were a great choice to sort of balance out the other dishes. This place really hit the spot after a long day of apartment hunting. I would probably come here all the time if it wasn’t all the way in the UWS. We were in the area to see Celebrity Autobiography. Service was nice and friendly and the prices are cheap(bill for 3 people was under $ 40). They refilled our wine supply at the table multiple times without us asking and even when we were paying the check… a smart idea to get us feeling more generous!
