The Greene Space at WNYC

Really cool experience! Came with a friend for an NPR recording. Super insightful, I would totally come here more if I lived close by. The unique, intimate setting ensures the audience can engage with speakers, ask questions, or view the overhead screens.
They had some artwork too which was nice and beer! I got to meet Michaela Angela Davis on this night, so I was definitely fan-​girling her amazing, activist, editor self! Overall, a bad-​ass night and conversations all around. I recommend for nerds and concerned citizens alike! Cheers!

Definitely a fan of this space. Came here to see Fresh off the Boat followed by conversation from Amy Chua, Awkwafina and Jay Smooth moderated by Jeff Yang. What a great, intimate theater space. There are tv monitors set up all over so you can’t miss seeing a thing. But with a space this intimate, there really isn’t a need to rely on the monitors because everyone is pretty up close — even from the back row — and sound quality is great.

Went there for the discussion panel and performance exerpts –Emancipation 150: Black women in classical ballet.
It was a wonderful thought provoking event but they also host many others from the looks of thier calender.
lovely state of the arts facility, good amount of seating, intimate while still hosting a good amount of space.
Excellent screens for viewing different angles of performances/​panels if you arent in the front row, good surround sound– aural acoustics, quaint close stage space.
Modern but modest décor– excellent staff.
GREAT SPACE AND EXPERIENCE.

To be in awe of the Greene Space strikes me as hyperbole, but it’s a nice space. What it lacks in warmth and charm and just about any other aesthetic qualities, it makes up for with excellent acoustics and comfortable seats. I don’t love the pillars, the TV receivers mounted on each, but I appreciate their usefulness.
I saw an impressive recital of the two sonatas by Beethoven that comprise opuses 53 & 54 and played by Leif Ove Andsnes, the young and distinguished Norwegian pianist. The recital included interviews with Mr. Andsnes by WQXR announcer Jeff Spurgeon, who was a knowledgeable and insightful questioner.
I don’t care for NPR very much since it became timid and «objective» instead of forthright and investigative, though I appreciate many of its reporters despite their limitations. When the station became «independent» because Giuiliani took away its funding, it began to be more «relevant,» i.e. mediocre in order to placate corporate funders. And now it is mis-​educating a generation of politically uninformed young people.
All of which is to say that I don’t have a «bias» in its favor, but the Greene Space is first rate in the ways that matter, i.e. acoustics and seating. Aesthetically, it is unremarkable.

I just saw one of the PERFORMA events tonight at the Greene Space and it was great! The broadcast room is super high tech with comfortable seating, amazing acoustics, not to mention great performances. I will definitely check out their calender for future events. A cool venue if you are in the mood for something totally different.

I am just in awe of this place. I worship National Public Radio. It is the only thing I will listen to in the morning or when I feel like I need my knowledge vitamin. So thank you NPR for always enlightening me, educating me, entertaining me, and invigorating me. So when MR told me about a Radiolab live event, I jumped at the opportunity to visit this venue. I had walked past this building several times, and had always been curious. Finally, the curiosity was quelled. We came for an event aptly named, «Awe-​Mageddon.» Jack and Robert as just as cool in person as they are on the radio. That’s a relief!
The space is rather small, only allowing for 125 seats. It has cutting edge digital audio and video systems, and also you can see where live tapings occur (in a room behind a wide glass panel). I also have to mention that the lighting was phenomenal. It created a warm mood, but also at the same time was not overpowering. The blue hues gave the place a Zen feel to it. The live event was an hour, each ticket $ 25 which included 2 drinks. You really can’t beat that. What more could you want in a weeknight: a great nerdy show to learn about swarm behaviour, a few glasses of alcohol, and a great spring night to stroll around a beautiful city ;-)

i’m biased because i work at wnyc, but i love the greene space. you can go see live WNYC radio broadcasts. you can see live music in a really intimate, swanky, hi-​tech spot. you can go to open mic night. networking events. lgbt events. diversity events. there are talks there from people like dr. cornel west and dr. eddie glaude. there are theater performances and live radio theater. there are art gallery forums, and forums to talk about things going on in nyc. it’s an amazing space with amazing possibilities!
