Another success real estate transaction completed with Chris. I recommended Chris to a good client of mine for the purchase of a Co-​op in Queens, NY. Chris well exceeded expectations. We had signed contracts within a few days of going out. Chris is never too busy to get back to either myself or client with any questions we had. Even going as far as answering emails late night and weekends (VERY rare in the legal field). I recommend Chris to all of my clients and look forward to doing more business with him in the future.

Here’s why I recommend Godfrey… starting from top to middle to close:
1) Godfrey not only reads the minutes of your coop, he provides you notes worth knowing in a thorough and succinct manner.
An aside: Most lawyers tell you they will go read the coop or condo minutes, but who really knows if they did. W/​Godfrey, he really does the due diligence: he provides you written proof of his notes. It’s thorough and it’s also concise so it’s easy to take in. Which gets to my next point:
2) His oral communication style: You will appreciate his thorough but succinct, articulate way of speaking and emailing. If you’re a very busy person like I am, you appreciate this quality even more so.
3) He’s provides you with what you need to know to weigh and make decisions ONLY on those things that matter: What he does is peel away at the noise and give you the core and bottom line of what the legality is so that you can navigate clearly and feel comfortable that you’re being led well. But it’s all very detail oriented.
4) He’s organized and on top of it. He is on top of where you are in the process.
5) I felt like he was in my corner and he made me feel comfy about having to call off the closing if I had to. You need someone like this. Some lawyers, they just want to close and be done with it so they can collect their last half.
I will add this too: I’m a hard cookie to please. And in my 17 years living in NYC, he’s only one of 3 professionals I’ve hired where I intend to keep using him long term. He’s a keeper.

Godfrey Lee recently helped us close on our CO-​OP apartment in the UPPER WEST SIDE and he constantly went above and beyond to make my fiancé and I feel comfortable throughout the process. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Chris on several occasions and recommend his services without reservation. In this market of low inventory it is absolutely imperative that a real estate attorney handle their work quickly and efficiently so that a buyer can sign off on a contract before a competitor comes in and endangers the process.
Chris is the only real estate attorney I know of who is accessible 7 days a week. In one transaction I had referred him to first time home buyers that I was working with. After completing the due diligence, Chris met with my buyers at 7pm on a Friday night to sign contracts. Now that’s dedication and something unheard of by most attorneys. We hired Chris Miao at this law firm for a simple immigration procedure. He took our money upfront filed the paperwork and never followed up. Did not respond to emails or phone calls for weeks at a time.
This was a procedure we could’ve done on our own all he needed to do was file the paperwork. Very disappointed.

I had the pleasure of working with Godfrey two times recently. The first time he helped me transfer ownership of a condo over to me and the second he assisted me in the sale of my condo. This was the very first time for me, and I had no knowledge of what was happening. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was going on and always stayed on top of everything. We got a simple immgration case that needs someone to follow up along the process as we were tied up with other stuffs at that time. Since the process is straightforward, we didn’t go to any brand name law firm, as the price tag is mostly $ 2k for everyone anyway. So we chose this place after saw those good reviews here, and we were dead wrong! At the beginning, Chris forgot to file few support ducements, so we had to go back to his office couple times. Then in the middle of the processs, we couldn’t find him at all when we urgently need him, as we were told there could be an interview. What happened was that we moved to a new place but all letters from immgration office were still sent to our old address. Since Chris got copies, we were trying to find out the details on those letters. Yet, we couldn’t reach him for days by phone or email! We finally called our previous doormen to help with chasing down those letters, and found the letters and interview detail at last before Chris finally got back to us. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! If you need someone to help you with something important, take your couple thousand bucks someplace else, for the service you deserve, and peace of mind you seek for.

Chris was a life saver when he helped me and my family fully understand what was going on with a case. Our family was incredibly stressed out and overwhelmed because we felt a lawyer was trying to jerk us around but Chris came through and explained the process and what we should expect so well that it gave us a huge peace of mind afterwards. Even better is that he’s a NY lawyer while I’m in Texas and he still had enough experience and knowledge too thoroughly explain it to us well. Their office is in a building that houses all kinds of different business — kinda hard to find. On the street you’re going to have to wade through the knockoff purse hawkers, but hey this is Chinatown in New York, what’d you expect?

Now onto why I was in a lawyer’s office in the first place. I was hit on Purim 2012 in my car in the LES. A Ford Fiesta full of dudes T-​boned me. As they were driving an Enterprise rental the claim turned into a nightmare. Even though I was going straight on a green light, and the other driver failed to yield my claim was denied. That’s when I called Chris. I was so frustrated at the time as the police report was in my favor, but I didn’t have full collision so I had no car and felt SOL. The dudes in the Fiesta were also completely ridiculous and attempted so many degrees of shadiness.
Chris put everything to rest quickly for me and for much less than the competitors. He took the time to meet with me, and answer my frantic emails and calls. He really knows how to listen, and offers strong succinct advice without a bunch of legal jargon.
I recommend calling ahead before you buy your Unilocal Deal to be sure you can use it for your particular situation. They’re also quick to return emails if you prefer something in writing.
Chris is also a pretty swell dude and still gives me legal advice from time-​to-​time regarding open container tickets, and other snafu’s I encounter in my life adventures. Some day when I’m internet famous I’m going to have him on retainer.

I hired Chris for real estate transactions, everything went smoothly, he was helpful, the deed was timely recorded without problems, and i would hire him again in the future. its small law office the good thing about a small law office is that the lawyer them self do all the work.

These partners offer unparalleled honesty and professionalism. I’ve been working with them for about a year now, and they’ve given me first class legal advise every time. I wish all firms were like Lee & Miao, they do work in a timely matter and aren’t in the business to just collect a fee. I definitely feel their drive, hunger, and hospitality, but I think it’s comes down them being multi-​talented. They’re young, bi-​lingual, patient, smart and on top of their work.

You can’t get any better than these guys. They’re extremely smart and incredibly driven guys who start they’re own company in order to better cater to the needs of the people who need them. It’s so overwhelming when choosing a law firm in NYC. There’s just so many and some are just liars and straight money hungry. But I’m glad I chose the right one. I came to this firm on my friend’s recommendation to have my sublet paperwork looked over. Being that it’s my first rental, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but both lawyers here were very helpful. They patiently explained the lease to me and answered all my questions.
