Went from friends from out of town and was pleasantly surprised. It had the trendy look if many restaurant so didn’t expect much but when the hostess agreed to text us when our table was ready, I started to think that maybe this place was a cut above. Once we dived into the appetizers and drinks, we knew we were in for a great meal. The food was fantastic and the wait staff was excellent, fun and like the food not pretentious. We very much enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going back!

Was ok — the Risotto balls were cold in the middle so we sent them back. I still don’t think they were the ideal temperature. The Waitress steered me towards the chicken and it was VERY rich — butter, bacon, lard. It was ok, but not dying to go back

Had a good last-minute dinner with a friend on a Thursday night. While the entire menu did look good, there were so many great appetizers, we made a dinner out of those. I had the Kale salad and the crab cakes, and together, they were a substantial enough meal. The restaurant was quiet at first, but filled in by 8pm, so it’s probably usually easy to get a 6:30pm table. Prices are standard, and the wine list is very reasonable. I would return for another casual evening in the West Village.

Tremont is a great neighborhood spot for a quiet lunch or dinner. The service was excellent and they have a great wine list. I tried the crispy fried quail and the pan roasted cod, which were both delicious. My date had the duck and thought it was a bit well done, but good overall. I like the British feel of this place, hope to be back to try the brunch!

This was a charming and cozy spot in the West Village neighborhood. We had the octopus for the appetizer and it was delicious. I had cod and my dish was very flavorful. My friend had the steak which looked OK but I would not get it if I went again. Perhaps my favorite part of the meal was the dessert — PUMPKINCHEESECAKE with toasted pecans, and spiced whipped cream. It was absolutely fantastic. Would go back just for the dessert.

A cute, low-key, spot for lunch and dinner. The space is really cozy with seating for ~20 people at the tables and another ~8 at the bar. There’s also a semi-private booth towards the back, I believe. The cocktails were mediocre. I had the japapeno margarita, which ended up being a little too sour and lacking the spicy kick for my taste. I then tried the southside, which was also pretty tart. I wish I had gone with wine, which my friends said were good, particularly the sancerre. The food was pretty good, especially the small bites. We had the risotta balls(divine!!), potato chips, and roasted almost. All 3 were very flavorful and packed quite the punch! I had the octopus a la plancha as an appetizer, which was a little overcooked and had a smoky taste. For the main, I had the pan-roasted cod, which came with quinoa, pinenuts, and apple salsa. The fish by itself was ok, but mixed with a bite of quinoa and apple salsa… wow! I don’t like pinenuts but couldn’t taste them in the dish, so all was good. I had a chocolate pot de crème for dessert. It was a heavy mouse that tasted like a Thin Mint and also came with a side of chocolate mint cookies. Very yummy but very sweet. Overall, a nice place for a meal. Nothing to rave about, but a solid choice.

Had a really nice dinner here recently on a Tuesday night; was able to get reservations for a table of 2 at a prime time without any issues the day of. Their cocktails were very good and all of the food was excellent: ordered the kale salad, crab cakes, duck, and fries — all were very good and these three dishes and one side were more than enough food for two people. Prices are typical of your standard West Village restaurant — expect to spend about $ 60 – 70 a person after tip and tax if you order a few drinks.

I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and I had requested for a table at the end or one with more space so that we were not squished between 2 tables. We got seated in the corner table, in between 2 other tables. Not exactly what I asked for. Service was good. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal. My boyfriend ordered the duck, which was delicious. I ordered the lobster gnocchi, which did not have much flavor to it. I wish I had ordered the duck! The chocolate mint dessert was delicious! I could’ve eaten that for dinner! Overall atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice. We wanted a low key and relaxing dinner and we got one.

My husband and I came for Sunday brunch, and the service was AWFUL. The waiter was not friendly at all from the beginning, and my husband and I both noticed and wondered what was up. He had a woman standing next to him who I assume was a trainee, but he never mentioned it, instead she just awkwardly hovered next to him. I ordered coffee with skim milk and I heard him tell the trainee that they don’t have skim milk so he’s just going to give me «whatever». He must have noticed that I overheard because he did come over to tell me, but damage was done in my opinion. My husband ordered the burger and I had the crab grilled cheese. I really enjoyed my meal but my husband did not really like his burger. This is a very small restaurant, yet no one ever came over ATALL during our meal to check on us or to offer to refill my empty coffee mug. At this point we were really dissatisfied and just wanted our check. We had to flag down our rude waiter to ask for it. Then sh** really hit the fan… We paid our $ 43.55 bill in $ 60 cash and he threw our change on the table without thanking us or acknowledging us in any way. We looked at the change and found $ 16, no change. Now, if we had enjoyed the meal at all thus far I would not have cared that he didn’t give us our 45 cent change, but this was just icing on the cake here. I asked the waiter why he didn’t give us our complete change and he told me that they only use dollars and don’t give change. Um that’s fine if you want to work in dollars, but then you round DOWN for the customer not UP! He rolled his eyes and said«fine I’ll give it to you.» He went up to the bar and him and the woman behind the register were rolling their eyes and making faces as she handed him our 45 cents. I grabbed his intended tip off the tray and told him to keep the 45 cents… it was 45 cents more than he deserved. Worth mentioning, I was once a waitress and make it a habit to always tip well… I have never experienced such terrible and rude service in my life. This is a small restaurant with plenty of staff standing around so there is really no excuse that not one person could have even bothered to come by or offer me a refill on my coffee. I absolutely do not regret stiffing this guy, he should not be working in the service industry. Additionally, if it really is the restaurants policy to round up customer bills to avoid giving change, I can’t help but wonder what the better business bureau would think about that… I will NEVER go back here.

Despite living one block away from tremont, and scoping it out prior to opening, we’ve intended to go here for years and STILL had never been, until a very last minute decision on my birthday(between tremont and cluny, which while we’ve been to a million times, never had dinner there either). Initially, they sat us at one of two remaining two tops in the dining room, which would have been fine, but obviously the second table would be sat next, and it was literally attached to our table. Again, were it not my birthday, that probably would have been tolerable, but i REALLY didn’t want strangers sitting on us while celebrating. After a few minutes, we got up to wait at the bar, until something else became available. Ultimately, they put us at the massive booth in the separate room(SO sweet!), and everything went wonderfully from there. We got the shishito peppers, artichoke. and kale salad to start, then my boyfriend got the scallops(with grapefruit and brussel sprouts), and i got the salmon. Truthfully, the scallops were far better than the salmon — but since it was my bday, my boyfriend had to share both 50⁄50 when we decided that. I’m dying to go back JUST for the shishito peppers and scallops! They then were AWESOME and gave us free champagne and dessert for my bday, which was such a nice touch and so much better than cheesy bday songs(or just dessert alone, as i’m not a dessert person). Can’t wait to come back for dinner soon! My only regret is that it took us so long to finally make it here! Also, the cocktails(dirty martini for me, rum and coke for boyfriend, so nothing elaborate) were good — and they’re nailing down a cocktail list(may have done so by now… honestly the no liquor license early on was half the reason we took so long to come here!) — and the bartender was also great!

We visited Tremont on Mother’s Day. Our group consisted of four gals, one baby and another gal who joined after the first hour. The food was excellent, but what mainly compelled me to Unilocal about it was how patient and gracious the staff was with helping us feel comfortable doing the baby thing(we had a large stroller with us) as well as not pressuring us to leave. We were there for a while even after we finished our food, and not once did they even hint at asking us to wrap it up. Thank you Tremont!

Unfriendly and slow service. We both had the prefix dinner which was just ok. Our soup was barely warm, had to send it back. They brought only one dessert for us to share, really? The prefix was $ 65.00 a person. I mentioned it and they brought another one, oh thanks. The dessert portion was definitely not a sharing portion size. Our waiter had as much personality as a can of spam.

Phenomenal. What a cute and cozy spot for a dinner date or weekend lunch. Food was amazing — best halibut I’ve had in maybe ever, yummy apps, delicious dessert — and wonderful service. This is going to be a go-to for me from now on! One caveat(but I don’t care bc I’m a fat kid at heart): you WILL smell like food when you leave since it’s a tiny restaurant. Don’t hit up the club right after ;)

My love affair in/with the West Village continues. It’s like this little neighborhood dominates on the brunch scene. Don’t get me wrong I brunch all over this freaking island, but most of my memorable brunch meals tend to be right around Perry St. It was late in the afternoon when we were walking around looking for something to eat. Saw Tremont and walked in. It’s your typical West Village spot(I say that in the best way possible since West Village rocks!) small, cozy, but lovely at the same time. We were met with smiling faces and seated immediately. Our server was amazing and gave great recommendations for food. I ordered the creamy polenta and my friend ordered the bread pudding french toast hangover style. Tasting the polenta brought on one of those moments where I stopped in my tracks to just say mmmmmm. It was flavorful and savory. All the flavors blended in perfect harmony and it was a moment of pure food bliss. I looked over at my friend’s plate and said damn dude, that’s a lot of food. I tasted the bread pudding and it was really good, but I was happy with my food. Our server kept coming to check on us, bringing mimosa after mimosa. You won me over Tremont and I can’t wait to come back.

Pleasantly surprised… Was just looking for a spot on a Sunday night after the movies close to the 1 train line between Midtown and Tribeca and took a shot on Tremont. It started raining by the time we started heading to the restaurant, but luckily the hostess seated us in the back with plenty of space to lounge, dry off, and be somewhat away from the noisy bar. Food was amazing! The pork belly reminded me of Filipino lechon kawali because it was deep fried crispy goodness and the paired apple compote was the right amount of tang. The hubby thoroughly enjoyed the mac and cheese with the chunks of speck and guyere cheese. We shared the crab cakes and they too were crispy on the outside the way I like them with no filler in sight! I totally agree with the rave reviews… will definitely come back… soon!

I found myself in NYC for the first time since I was a child. After getting over my option paralysis about restaurants, I snapped up a reservation at Tremont and readied myself for New York eating. What made me choose Tremont? Justin cab scored a place on the limited wine menu. The stereotype: expensive, brusque but confident service, rich food, strong cocktails. Tremont almost shocked me. My date and I were seated in the main part of the restaurant, surrounded by expansive windows looking out to the dim street. We were directed to a wonderful side-by-side table, with our backs to the street and a view of just about every other table and the bar. Our waitress was humble and knowledgeable, and took the time to walk us through the short but competent wine list and(rather typical) menu. The food was delicious, the cocktails were strong, and we had a spectacular evening. The highlight came at the end of the meal. Foregoing dessert, we asked the waitress for recommendations for a nightcap in the area. She decided to defer to the bartender, and said she would be right back. It turned out the bartender is also the owner, and he came over himself. We talked about our lovely experience, and over the next five minutes he asked us about or cocktail preferences, willingness to walk, and preferred scene. He drew on his card directions to several places, and even went to the bar to look up a place he couldn’t exactly remember. He made the rest of our night fantastic, and his restaurant all the more memorable.

This spot is quintessential West Village. Charming space, snug seating arrangements and great food. The large windows are perfect for people watching. The perfect spot to catch up with a friend or take a date. There was a group of girls in the corner celebrating a birthday, but I would not recommend Tremont for a group as the place is small and intimate — ie: please take your drunken, loud friends elsewhere… mmmm great thanks! The wine is very reasonable. We had a delicious bottle of Sauv Blac for under $ 40. The food is also reasonable and the portions are large so easy for sharing. T and I started with the Tuscan Kale and Polenta Croutons appetizers. The mushroom with the polenta really makes the whole dish and adds so much flavor. The kale was excellent and so fresh with a lovely lemon, citrusy flavor. We split the apricot glazed pork shoulder which was also amazing. For dessert we had fresh strawberry rhubarb pie. The atmosphere here is really what makes this place(well, it also helps that that food is super tasty too). This is one I can see coming back to again and again. I can’t wait to try it for brunch.

What the hell! I really wanted to like this place. I live two blocks over, so I’ve walked by many times and wanted to give it a try. So after reading a few reviews, we came here for brunch this morning. The interior is inviting and bright; the service wasn’t bad but the food was SO disappointing. I was so excited to try the pecan bread pudding French toast. Well, did anyone taste it before they sent it out??? It’s a Jenny Craig sized portion with a warm fruit compote on top, which completely overshadows any taste of pecan bread pudding and completely lacks the density of bread pudding. I’m kind of getting upset thinking about it because I left hungry. No bueno. My husband ordered the open faced blt with tomato jam. Usually an open faced sandwich is TWO pieces of bread. Well, this sandwich was one piece of bread with one egg and two pieces of bacon. This restaurant is making a killing profit by selling a half sandwich for $ 12 and French toast dish for $ 12 that’s smaller than a stack of business cards. My feathers are getting ruffled just thinking about the food. There are so many fantastic food options in the West Village and this will not be one of them.(Sniffle, sniffle).

There are moments in your life of such indelible exquisite perfection that you revel in your luck of being there and savor each nuanced passing. And at the end, you promise yourself that you’ll be back to re-experience the magic. The sad truth is that we rarely go back. And even if you do, you can’t recreate the moment. You need to appreciate each moment for what it is right there. Tremont reminded me of never taking anything for granted and to slow down and savor each cherished moment. He asked me what I missed the most so he could take me there to welcome me back after my long sojourn away. I lied by answering Tremont. I read a NY Times review for Tremont and I was sold upon reading about polenta croutons. Regardless of what else they had on the menu, I had to have those croutons. After spotting pork chops on the menu, it wasn’t difficult to persuade him to go. Tremont was everything I wanted it to be. Tucked into a corner of the beautiful tree-lined streets of the West Village, Tremont is quietly elegant and romantic. The soft whitewashed wood, banquette seating with comfortable and yet not overblown cushions, and scores of flickering tea candles gently and warmly invite you in. The West Village was made for romance and Tremont is no different. The special of POACHEDOCTOPUSSALAD sounded too good to pass up. Indeed he later confessed that he had only ordered it because of the way my face lit up when the server described the dish. The octopus was carefully poached to retain its tenderness and delicate taste of brine, that was beautifully married with a drizzle of olive oil. He was sure that nothing could top the octopus salad, but the POLENTACROUTONS with MUSHROOMS, PARMESAN, &HERBS swept us off our feet. The golden cubes of creamy polenta was everything that I had imagined it to be and more. The delicately crispy exterior held its shape, but gracefully broke away to reveal the most creamy and smooth polenta that I had ever eaten. It must have been made with cream and whisked by angels. The rich savoriness of the sauteed mushrooms and truffle oil enhanced the flavor of the polenta. Sheer perfection. This dish is a must. He ordered the GRILLEDPORKCHOP with SPAETZEL, CABBAGE, and APPLEBUTTER. He is a connoisseur of pork chops, but he contently declared that this one could hold its own to his favorite at Little Owl’s. I enjoyed a few bites of the juicy succulent meat, but I was more interested in the spaetzel — German egg noodles. For my own main, I had the BRAISEDLAMBSHANK with COUSCOUS, SWEETPEPPERS, and HARRISA. The braised lamb shank was as it should be – fall off the bone tenderness. I love lamb, especially in the combination of a hearty robust flavor with cous cous. Although the menu claimed harrisa was in the dish, I failed to taste any spice(then again, I eat epic levels of spiciness so YMVV). Regardless, this was a superlative dish. We enjoyed our meal with SANTENAYCLOSROSSEAU, a lovely Burgundy from France. The night was a rare combination of the perfect meal, in a beautiful setting, and good company. And though I tried to sit and absorb each moment as it came, my mind still wandered elsewhere. Naively we both thought that there would be another time in the future. We’d come back again. I wish I had known that would have been the last time. Then I would have stopped and made it linger to burn a few more precious minutes into my memory before everything had disappeared without a backward glance.

Visited just for dessert. We had the delicious sticky toffee torte, which came w/a scoop of yogurt gelato. They were the perfect combination. We also had the chocolate mousse w/a caramelized pecan crust. Definitely wasn’t expecting the chocolate mousse to come out like it did, but it was quite good. We saw the table next to us eating dinner, and they seemed to have large & delicious-looking dishes. Definitely want to come back to try some entrees.

Perfect for: romantic dinner for 2, group birthday celebration(awesome semi-circle booth in the back), entertaining out of town guests. I had an amazing dinner at Tremont a few weeks ago and everything from the service to the food was divine. I love the focus on local ingredients and the small, seasonal menu. I love that it is tucked into the quintessential West Village corner of Bank and West 4th Street. It’s one of my favorite areas of the city and Tremont just makes it that much more perfect. We didn’t have a reservation and just popped in on a Wednesday night around 9 and had no issue on getting a table for 2. Very gracious hostess with no attitude and she was warm and inviting. The seats are a little cozy, but I prefer cozy to a King Arthurs Table scenario. Our server was charmingly quirky and knowlegable enough about the wine and food, but wasn’t a charmer. The appetizers all sounded delicious, but we went with the bibb lettuce salad with green apples, goat cheese and apple vinagrette. The pork chop with apple butter was savory and delicious. It was one of best pieces of «the other white meat» that I have had in a very long time. The wine list is average, but they had a great Burgundy on the menu which made this place a home run. Cocktail connesseuirs — go elsewhere — they only serve beer and wine. Plan to spend about $ 75 per person here if you are drinking vino and eating apps and entrees. It’s worth it! Will definitely be back to check out brunch — I just checked out that menu and WOW — mouth started to water upon first browse!
