Two Guys and a Truck

Great work. They handled my belongings with care, and were more efficient than I expected. But unless you plan on meeting their demands on their tip requests, I would not suggest you use them if you are by yourself. I was very uncomfortable with their aggressive response to a tip of over 20%, and I would not use this company again.

These guys did a great job with my move — so smooth, start to finish. I really appreciated Michael and his crew. They were all very pleasant and worked so hard.

I called this moving company after reading the reviews that were all very positive. At the end of the month, movers usually book up quickly, but Andre was able to fit me in on short notice. They were very accommodating and also quick to get over a COI (if your building requires it for a move). Mike and his team were fantastic — very quick, helpful, and professional the entire time. I highly recommend this moving company, and will use this company again in the future without a doubt. You won’t be disappointed.

This is the second time I have used Two Guys and a Truck. They are the best movers in New York. I called with less than a week to go, but they remembered me and sent a good crew to take care of me.
Benny and his team arrived on time, and worked very quickly. We had some furniture that was very big — Benny helped me either break it down or wrapped it well so it wouldn’t damage the building or get broken. Even though another family was scheduled to move out of my building on the same day — and they showed up early — Benny was polite and professional at all times. His team finished one hour quicker than the estimated — he wasn’t milking the clock to charge me more. I accidentally gave too much for the payment, and they gave the change back to me. Benny thanked me for being a return customer, which meant a great deal to me. It’s good to know they pay attention to these things.
I recommend them strongly. When you speak to Andre (the manager … I hope I spelled his name right), ask for Benny and his team.

From the other reviews, it sounds like it kind of depends on who you get as your movers from this company. Three guys came to move my wife and I from a basement apartment in BK to an apt in the BX. They were all really nice, didn’t ask for a tip upfront (as some of the other reviews suggested), and did the job in an efficient amount of time. They wrapped certain furniture to keep it from getting scratched and were just really professional overall.
They did charge me $ 20 for «materials» which basically meant they covered my mattress and a desk with plastic. I was okay with it but they told me that at the end when I was ready to pay. They should have asked upfront if I was okay with that, but instead they just did it.
Also, when it was time to pay, the guy quoted me about $ 300 more than what we owed. I was tracking the hours and rate as we went along, so I disputed his price and showed him my calculations on my phone. He saw this and apologized and said it was his mistake. I want to think it was truly a mistake and that he wasn’t trying to pull a fast one, but you never know. Just be sure to calculate yourself so you are prepared for whatever they quote you at the end. We tipped about $ 100 for the whole move. For three guys, in hindsight, that might not seem like a lot, but they didn’t try to ask for more.
Overall, really great experience. They got our stuff moved safely and efficiently and that was the important part for me. OH and they also arrived 30 minutes EARLY but that was fine by us. I would definitely use them again!
Also, just be prepared to sign some stuff for them in the beginning. Like about the rate you agree to and that they aren’t responsible for breaking IKEA furniture (isn’t that funny?) and random stuff like that.

Two guys and a truck moved some bookcases for me yesterday. They were timely, careful, courteous, and knew what they were doing. From picking up the bookcases on the east side and delivering to me on the west the timing was just a little over an hour. They carry insurance which was required by the east side building.
The only thing that was a bit disturbing is that when I gave them a generous tip they dared ask for more because there was a third guy in the truck downstairs so they wouldn’t get a ticket for double parking. This should have been said upfront, not when I am settling up with them by not approving of my tip amount.
They did give a good rate for the move, and I would use them again because otherwise it was very professional, but NOT cool to ask for more tip!

I booked my move from the UES to Astoria rather quickly. They were accommodating when I had to reschedule. They arrived on time within the arrival window. From start to finish these guys did an excellent job meeting my needs. The job took about 4hrs from an elevator building to a 4 story walk up! Lots of hard work all around. Got the movers some water and tipped them handsomely for their efforts. I won’t be moving anytime soon but I’ll keep these guys in mind again in the future.

Without a doubt, the best movers I have ever used. I had read all the horror stories about moving in New York and I was scared it would either be prohibitively expensive or all my stuff would be broken or both. It was cheap, easy, and absolutely none of my property was damaged.
Booked these guys for a big move only two days in advance. They were super quick, extremely careful with all of my possessions, and were very respectful of my space. They are very willing to work with you to organise the move in the way that makes things fastest and easiest.
Cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

This is the second time I have worked with these guys, and I can safely say that they are some of nicest, most helpful movers around. They really walk you through the payment and make sure you know exactly how and what they are planning to do.

I was moving from Manhattan to Long Island. The move was last minute, but the movers managed to arrive on site 2 hours within first contact. I hired 3 movers and a truck for my 1 bed apt. The job included packaging the wardrobes, mattress, couches and mirrors with tapes, loading them in a truck and unloading them at destination. I had many loose bags and they helped packaging them into big boxes to accelerate the move. The job was done quickly and professionally, with minimal damage. I am happy about it.

Got tailgated on the BQE by these guys and their truck. Honking and flashing their lights as if their schedule was more important than other drivers safety. Classy business model, piss off your customers on the road. It’s NYC, there is traffic, get used to it, you’re not a special snowflake that gets to avoid it.

My response to the owner’s inquiry:
I appreciate you reaching out to me. The person I spoke with (I didn’t catch his name) was horrible to deal with. I mentioned that I would take care of loading dock access etc and he went on this rant about how he’s been moving in the city for years, why would I suggest the loading dock etc. I couldn’t take listening to his attitude anymore so I said «thanks anyway, forget it» and I hung up on him. I called the next moving company on the list and I booked with them.
Thanks anyway for the offer, but we’re good. I hope for your company’s sake that you pull this guy off the phone, he’s killing your business.

The first thing the movers said upon arriving was «We will work fast. You will tip us $ 100 a person.» Given that I anticipated the moving costing about $ 1200 (it ended up being $ 1300), a 33% tip seemed outrageously high, and it was hard not to interpret what they said as a threat that if I didn’t tip them as much, they would work slower and thus I would end up having to pay more.
I contacted the company afterwards. The person said that I should have called headquarters, which is fair, and they graciously refunded part of the tip.
As for the move itself, while sometimes abrasive («your tape is bullshit!»), the movers handled my furniture carefully and seemed to do the job efficiently.

I highly recommend these movers and already am having my friend set up a time with them in the next couple of weeks. They charge by the hour, but waste no time getting started and are extremely efficient at completing the packing and unpacking. Moreover, they are very upfront with any additional costs you may be incurring and have any additional materials you may need. They also allowed my roomate and I to use some of their resources at no additional cost such as the moving Dolly’s to transfer our smaller items that I was planning on carrying or transporting personally. They are very professional, kind, and will accommodate any requests without complaining. They kept in touch with me days before the move and properly supplied two COIs to my buildings management company.
Will absolutely use again.

Great experience! Ivan was the «lead» mover, and he was really nice and helpful. He made sure we had all of the extra supplies we needed and knew exactly what he was doing. Everything arrived safe and sound.
My only «complaint» is the amount of time it took for them to drive from the old place to the new place. It is about a 40 minute drive. I know trucks need to drive slower, but it took them more than an hour and a half. A little frustrating. however it’s hard to really be upset when the rest of the move was flawless and efficient.
Ivan and his team made the move incredibly easy for us, and I am so grateful. Moving can be very stressful, however they took as much of that stress away as they possibly could.

Poor service.
My mother inquired for a quote, they said it was $ 225 and then an hourly rate after that. We were fine with that because we only really needed a bed and a wardrobe moved. At the end of the move from the old house my mother asked the guys what other fees would be added on, and they said there is a service fee for us to get back to our main location. When my mother inquired as to where it was they said «Don’t worry about it.» My mother did not know that their base was in NY when she was in Highland Park NJ, so when they arrived to my parents’ house they tried to charge them $ 400. There was no need for them to tell my mother «Don’t worry about it» because clearly there was something to worry about. In addition they didn’t even move the wardrobe that needed to be moved! Complete waste of service.
Be upfront with your customers and not cheeky to a bunch of senior citizens.

We needed movers last minute as the apartment we had applied for over a month before finally came through. These movers showed up at 9am sharp (they said they’d be there around 9am), moved us out of our large 1 bedroom in Queens and into a smaller 1 bedroom in Manhattan, all in about 3 hours total. Pretty great.
Some other reviewers complained that the guys weren’t friendly, but that’s a little strange for an expectation of movers in my opinion. They were professional, but reserved, bordering on curt. They have a difficult job though so cut them some slack. Keep in mind they are also doing it cheaper than most. Still, nothing was damaged aside from a ceramic bowl, which broke due to our poor packing and not their handling. They did a good, quick job, and for a few hundred dollars less than the next best quote from another service. The total came to something in the $ 600-​$ 700 range. Worth every penny as we didn’t have to bother dying of exhaustion at the end of the move like we usually do. Also, not having to drive and park the truck was great.
As far as the quote goes, they quoted a two-​hour mandatory price, plus a half-​hour rate after that, as well as the extra hourly cost if we wanted to add another guy (We didn’t as their quote included three guys. Plenty for us.). All very reasonable when I look at all the quotes I received from different companies.
One other thing to note: our new place required a CIO (certificate of insurance) for any movers that we used, and these guys were able to provide that from their insurance company for an additional $ 25. We wouldn’t have been able to use them otherwise, so that was great.
