Unique Copy Center

I worked with Paul at Unique on a very tricky job: paper puzzles that consisted of double-​sided strips divided into triangles, with perfect registration front and back. Paul was patient and took a real interest in the project, painstakingly perfecting the registration as much as possible with the machinery and files at hand, and explaining why there might be slight variations with the machine cutting.
I was very impressed with how well the triangles on side 1 matched up with the triangles on side 2, Paul’s willingness to redo work when files were modified, and his patience with the confusing sounding files.
I will most certainly work with Unique again.

One 30×40″ poster print cost $ 135. For a similar job last year, I paid $ 85 (a primary reason I’d gone back).
We walked in Wednesday, and were told only «email him» by a woman who slapped a business card on the counter and turned away.
When we emailed the next day for a Tuesday pickup, it became a more expensive «rush job» because «business day» doesn’t include Saturday — even though that’s a day their business is open.
The guy we were commanded to email — Adam — was fully deserving of his crude referral. Requests for basic information (that anyone selling a $ 100 service should have provided automatically) received one-​word replies that didn’t address the questions asked. My credit card and I were REAL comfortable asking repeatedly when we could pick up, and getting only «sure.»
I had several friends who used Unique around the same time. An impressive 100% of them said that this same guy was singularly unprofessional, unhelpful, and rude, that getting basic details from him was like pulling teeth, and that they would never use Unique again unless forced to.
When we picked up our print job on Tuesday, it was mounted on foamcore instead of the simple «poster» we had asked for. That means we paid more for a bigger job, just because they weren’t interested in or capable of asking for clarification to their own confusion.
Yes, their business is based half on customers’ desperation, but also half on attentiveness to detail and good service. We had the former in spades, but I’ve rarely confronted such a lack of professionalism or interest in your business.
If you have a project to print and no time/​money/​energy to waste correcting errors at the last second, don’t risk it with Unique and their staff.

Got several digital prints. Mr Konstantin was super patient and all the prints looks great. He gave me a small gift that was a nice gesture.

They have been printing my publication, We’ll Never Have Paris, for 9 years. Shout out to Adam and Amaury who have always been easy to work with and fast; the product looks great with a reasonable price.

They did a great job printing my dissertation. Fast and professional, the print quality was excellent. I would certainly use them again.

There are a lot of negative reviews about this place, and I would never diminish anyone else’s reviews, but I find Unique to be top notch. I have used them over the past two years and found their service to be very good in various capacities. Lately, I have had to do a lot of event printing with them and found the turn-​around time to be speedy and the work done expertly. They even took the time to do a test print before I left to make sure it looked perfect before the full run was processed… and the last time they caught an error in my layout. The service is also very good and Miguel, Jose, and the owner have always been professional and patient with me and the other staff very kind and accomodating. Glad they exist.

Arrived at 8AM — no other customers and one employee. When I asked her to recommend a copy machine, she just said she’d take care of it for me. Awesome service!!! 10 cents a copy.
Not sure what this place is like when it gets more busy, but assuming it is not a horrorshow, I might hop back onto Unilocal to bump this rating up to a four…

I’ve had a great experience at Unique and I haven’t been an easy customer — oversize posters, playbills, etc. All needed tweaking this, tweaking that. They hung in with me and have delivered all that we needed in a timely way — couldn’t be more pleased. I’d much rather work with a neighborhood place where I can communicate easily and directly and know that what I’m getting will be great.

Overall quality was pretty good. However service was only mediocre. We had come in to recieve out order adn they could not find our paperwork nor quickly locate our prints.

Old machines, over priced, and horrible service. The three employees I saw this morning were much more interested in sitting and talking about their weekend activities and personal relationships than helping me make my copies and leave on time. First one desktop didn’t work, the second did but the employees forgot to tell me that the color printer is the default printer, then the b&w printer didn’t work. After 20 minutes I left with one job printed — 7 pages in black and white for nearly $ 4. Don’t go here!

I bought a coupon for Unique Copy Center because I was going to have to print several copies of my 200+ page dissertation (2000+ pages in total). I needed it printed on a special type of paper, and called first to make sure they had this, before sending over the document and committing to a printing charge. I called on 3 different occasions, and Adam (the guy in charge of handling price quotes) never bothered to call me back, despite me leaving messages (and his promise that he would call me the following morning). Nevermind that he was quite rude both times I actually spoke with him. The one time I did manage to get a quote from someone different, and the price seemed extremely high. Do yourself a favor and save your business for a place that actually seems to care about it. Surprisingly, I had the best, same-​day and reasonably-​priced service at Staples, after Unique Copy Center left me in such a bind, and with little time before my due date.

I’m surprised at how negative the previous reviews have been. They kinda make me want to give 4 stars but I’m going to resist that kind of reactionary behavior and just attempt to tell it like it is.
I am an independent publisher of prose, poetry, and creative non-​fiction and I’ve been coming to Unique for my printing needs since 2008. They have a great selection of high-​quality paper, plus they do all the binding for me and use their paper slicer to chop off that excess paper you have on the edge when folding a large stack of papers.
I e-​mail them the documents I need printed and specify the type and size of paper. A couple days later I get an e-​mail telling me to swing by and pick up my books. Easy. Sure, sometimes it takes them 5 or 10 minutes to track down my stuff but aren’t all copy shops like that? And yea, the people working here don’t give a deuce about your super-​brilliant project. It’s up to you to articulate precisely what you need, ask for a quote, look over a proof, and ultimately approve the printing job. I’ve done that with Unique for years and they’ve never let me down.
My main problem with Unique is how expensive they can be. On average I spend roughly $ 90 for 50 quarter page books, (or $ 110 for 30 half page books). That’s just Manhattan though, right?

I like Unique Copy Center. I’ve used them several times to fax things. They take care of everything for you so you don’t even need to figure out how to work a machine, just hand your documents over. Though the service isn’t exactly friendly, the prices seem fair, especially in comparison to Kinkos. They have an extensive menu of services too, so if you need your face screened onto a T-​shirt they can do it for you.
