Vyne

I always enjoy a good wine bar and Vyne is no exception. I came here earlier this month for Tom K.‘s birthday and was impressed with both the wine and the comfortable yet sleek atmosphere (in addition to the company, of course.) While Vyne is in transition and will reopen under new management, I look forward to returning.

I came here last week for Tom K’s birthday, much like Albert and Ben noted in their reviews, and it seemed like a solid place. I had a good time even if I was out of my usual drinking element (I’m more of a «beer bar» guy but keep an open mind).
pretty spacious with real comfortable seating (it reminded me of a less packed Amity Hall, which is next door). I loved how the front lounge area has a big window overlooking the street from a floor above.
service was great, and my Tanqueray/​tonic was delicious.
note that Vyne is in the middle of a transition period, and the new manager said he would be closing the place for a few weeks to do some renovations (opening up some space, new furniture/​seating, and such). he did give us a round of shots for Tom’s birthday and said to come back in October when the renovations were done (and possibly a name change too). I definitely look forward to checking out «Vyne 2.0 — Electric Boogaloo» or whatever the new name will be!

Vyne only recently opened on West 3^rd Street but it definitely has potential. The venue is in a prime location (nestled in the heart of NYU) and it’s elegant looking without being pretentious. I went for after dinner drinks for Tom K.‘s birthday and we sat in the lounge area towards the front. The décor is mostly black and silver, looking modern and mysterious at the same time. It’s a beautiful, wide open space and we all felt comfortable.
The waitress who served us was fantastic. Very pleasant, quick to make suggestions when asked and our wine bottles were brought over quickly and they poured them out for us. Kudos also to leaving a pitcher of ice water for us!
Note: Vyne is in transition. They didn’t have a food license yet at the time, but they will be getting it in October. At that time, they will close for renovations a bit, which will involve the inclusion of more seating and booths. I’m looking forward to a return visit!

This place has serious potential. Great wine selection with reasonable prices, service, and lovely décor. Went here for a friend’s birthday for drinks after dinner. Welcome to bring in food as they do not have a liscence yet.

I went in relatively early on a weekday and had the entire place to my group. With $ 5 glasses of good wine and $ 5 house liquor drinks, we stayed for an hour and left lit.
I love the open and airy atmosphere. There’s plenty of room to stretch out, and everything is comfortable and inviting. The big windows looking out to the street are a nice touch, and the lighting is well-​thought out and attractive.
The bartender was friendly and attentive.
Great happy hour spot.

Listen up, Vyne is the kind of place I love, alright? If you’re like me (and I totally will still be friends with you if you’re not like me, I don’t judge), you might appreciate the following:
–Vyne has $ 5 glasses of house wine that is really fucking good from opening unti– brace yourself for it– «10pm» I put the time in quotes because our angel of a bartendress kept the $ 5 glasses coming well past that time. In fact, I was here until well past 1am and got nice and devyned on less than you’d spend on a Sonic binge (I’ve never had such a binge, mind you).
(cue the cliché, but since this is one that I use sparingly, know that I really mean this)
–Vyne is an oasis on a bustling (read: chock full of crowded ick) block full of people looking for that illusive scene. I’ll have you know, there hasn’t been a scene in that area in a long ass time, if ever.
–said people don’t venture into Vyne because there’s not even a hint of a scene, just a wide open, dark, sleek space with a fireplace (!), low tables and banquets, and people calmly imbibing and talking-​not shouting– and listening. There will be a seat for you. A bartender will pay attention to you. She will even fill your water glass, along with your wine glass.
–you might agree because of the above, that this is a great place for a first, second or third date (I find that on fourth dates, all bets are off).
Anyway, a $ 5 glass of good wine is hard, if not impossible, to come by in NYC. If you’re a local (these days, I am not) and you’re like me, Vyne may very well become your go-​to spot when in Greenwich Village.
By the way, two visits in one night just so you know.

You know what Vyne, I like you. I like your drinks. I like your ambiance. I LOVE your bartenders.
GREAT place to have a party. Reserve the front area with the black leather couches and chairs, with the huge window looking on to 3^rd Street just below, and it’s a perfect setting to celebrate just about anything. Hell I may throw a party just because of it!
Not very crowded but should be, because Vyne rocks. Oh and Unilocalers, check-​in and get 50% off your first drink — nice right!

I’ve wanted to try this place for a very long time. I used to pass it often and thought that’s a cute wine bar. I finally had the opportunity to stop in while in a date. Definitely a nice décor and it was not overly crowded on a Friday night. It was pretty bright when we first entered, but the lights were adjusted shortly afterwards. The unsmiling waitress dropped off a few menus and left us to pick our selections. I was surprised that they only offered 3 reds by the glass. It just felt very limited for a wine bar. Luckily, finishing a bottle is not a problem for the 2 of us… once we can agree on a selection. The bar didn’t offer some types of wine that feel relatively standard like Shiraz or Merlot and again the number of options were pretty limited for a wine bar. We finally order, only to have the waiter say, «hmm let me check if we even have that». I’m thinking, OK this is only getting worse and we should definitely leave if they don’t have it. The waiter comes back… with the wrong bottle. Urgh. He quickly realizes and then gets the correct bottle. I forgot which bottle we got, but I wasn’t overly impressed (this is no fault of the bar). We also ordered hummus, which was just OK.
Overall, I wasn’t impressed, but I wouldn’t drop to the ground with arms flaring if I had to go back.

if you are looking for a chill spot with a good selection of wine and nice décor, Vyne is the place to go.
I’ve been here twice now, both times after a comedy show at the Zinc Bar (
) downstairs, and I had a great time both times. The place gets pretty busy depending on the night, but the service is still pretty good. The noise level is not bad, so you don’t have to shout to your friends across the table all the time. And if you check in with Unilocal,you get 50% off your first glass of wine or cocktail. Overall, it’s a pretty good place, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something low-​key.

This place is super cute! The décor is dark, romantic, & lounge like.
Definitely a great place for a date or a drinks w/​friends.
You can do wine by the glass, but it’s best to get a bottle if your a 2 – 3 glass person. my friend and I shared a bottle of the Riesling they had for night. It was about $ 40+.
The service was great, they make sure your glass is never empty.
My one tiff would be the bathroom being the darkest bathroom EVER!!! You literally couldn’t see the toilet. So of course my friendly suggestion was given to our waitress and she laughed and said she complains about it constantly.
All in all, I will definitely go back!

Loved this little wine bar. It definitely has a rich, loungy feel, complete with spacious couches and a fireplace. The staff was friendly, which is to be expected. The huge surprise of the night was… the customers were super friendly too! The couple sitting in front of us shared some of their appetizers and offered us a tasting of their wine. I think it was the «Domaine Armand Rousseau 2005 1er. Cru Lavaux St-​Jacques.»
Much love. A rare opportunity for some poor kiddos like us, and it totally added to the experience.
Our party ordered by the glass, and grabbed an oyster mushroom handcrafted pizza. Delicious!

This place is dimly lit, with a fireplace next to a couple of leather couches. It was fairly empty on a Wednesday night, and a great place to drop by on a cold night.
I had the oyster mushroom, which was good but a bit too… oily/​creamy. The wine was delicious, however! I had the Riesling which had just enough sweetness to it. With a Unilocal check-​in, you also get ½ off a glass. All 3 of us had that, and in the end, the waiter took off ½ our entire bill-​including our pizza and fries. Props to him, and for his friendliness!
There’s also free wifi, which is always another plus!

I would be giving this place one star but the guy who waited on me and my girlfriend was really nice even if his service was damn near tragic. A point for being pleasant, I suppose.
Instead of writing a diatribe of my terrible experience, a simple list will be sufficient.
My red wine was cold.
There was lip stick on my glass.
The menu had missing pages.
Again, the miserable service.
They ran out of pizza dough.
Then they ran out of all the other food items and/​or something happened in the kitchen but I’m still unclear.
When we received «the last food in the house,» the waiter said «and the grand finale!» Thankfully we had a coupon so we didn’t have to pay full price for the less than stellar experience.
I seriously doubt the place will be open in a year. Sad, nice guys and a great opportunity.

I bought a living social deal for this.4 wines with a cheese platter which I bought for like ~$ 20 dollars. I looked on the menu its actually worth like ~50−60 dollars! Go me!
First off, this place is damn near empty. But the ambiance and everything is super cute/​classy. Nice Décor. I saw a lot of couples and I actually LIKE that its not too crowded. In a place like NY, having SPACE is to be appreciated!
The waitress was adorable. I couldn’t understand a thing she said because she said things in kind of a babyvoice/​soft/​muffled but I could get that she really loved her wines. I liked all the wines she brought out as well. I would come here again for some nice intimate moments… but would not buy the cheese platter on my own accord. It had good cheeses, some almonds, some baguette, but like like 6 GRAPES. WHHHATTT. GRAPES ARE like the cheapest thing on the plate PILE THEM UP!!!

My friend held her birthday party here, interesting place. Nice casual/​cozy/​romantic atmosphere, I love the ambient lighting. The food was good, the fries and shrimp in particular were nice. They do have a full bar which is great because I don’t drink wine. Nice, friendly, attentive service. The bathrooms are extremely dark, that’s really my only complaint. It seemed to clear out early. I’d come back if something was going on but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here either.

The ambiance and décor at this wine bar are diVYNE! The interior space was designed by Jan Roelfs (Gattaca guy), and it certainly emits an edgy sophisticated vibe.
Although the bar looked ideal for a happy hour rendezvous, the place was empty at 6:30 on a Friday. In fact we were seated very quickly, and despite the proximity of the other tables, we sat by ourselves in the front of the restaurant.
We ordered some delicious cheese, which was presented in a lovely fashion. My glass of Pinot Noir was also great albeit overpriced. Vyne primarily focuses on the their white wine list so there is something left to be desired for red vino aficionados. As for the main course, I had the mushroom ravioli. It was pretty good and the portion size was decent.
I think I will visit again for drinks and appetizers, but I would suggest eating before or after unless you want to order numerous plates.

Meh, underwhelmed once again. We sat in the front this time, in the kushy couches, but it meant that getting our waitress’s attention was more difficult, even though the whole bar was pretty empty.
The cheese plates ($ 5) are a bit of a rip off. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so little cheese.

Vyne is much more than a modern wine bar. Take a peek at the menu, you’ll want to order everything in it.
I had the most amazing thin crust basil and tomato pizza, the kind that comes out pipping hot, and is sooo thin, you barely have to touch it and it folds over. Quite possibly the best pizza I’ve had in NYC.
Extensive wine list, amazing food, dripping of modern elegance, and a beautiful fireplace. I could live here.

Considering the uncertain headcount of our large party, staggered arrival times, and indecisive/​nonchalant imbibers, Vyne was more than accomodating. Our waitress, Karrin (hope I’m spelling that right), was very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful.
The wine selection is expansive! Covering all parts of the world and all sorts of palates. I didn’t try any of the food but it looked very appetizing. They even have a fair beer selection for those who aren’t big on wine.
My friend drunkenly left his coat in coat check overnight and the manager was very supportive and helpful as well.

We had a Groupon for this place and need to use it before we left. I checked to see how late they were open and I think they were open until 4am… plenty of time. We showed up at 10ish. Kitchen closed… What? I don’t know if the is a New York thing, but I go to a place that advertises as a wine bar I want a little something… cheese, charcuterie, or some like that. Nope. Well I guess we would be spending the money on booze. Now that doesn’t sound so bad, but we had an early flight so I knew it was going to be a rough morning.
I was not impressed with the wine list. I decided to start with one of there mixed drinks. It had marmalade in it (not listed on the ingredients) and was not very good. I don’t like a drink with jam at the bottom of it. I tried some of the wines… meh.
The service was very nice. The bartender was cracking me up and I would return just to talk with him. The space is nice.

Great selection of wine, wonderful service, cool environment, the roasted almonds are to die for and the squab they had on special along with their hard salami. excellent.
