Zip Laundry Center

I use Zip for wash and fold and dry cleaning. I’m leaving to go home for Christmas and last night I explained to the person at the register that its really important that this will be ready for today since I have a train to catch. She was understanding and made sure it was ready like I needed. I thought this was nice of them since I saw what seemed to be a lot of orders.
As for self service… I’ve never used it but the machines always seem clean on my way to the counter in the back so I guess you can’t really go wrong with that either.

I’ve been coming here for a few months now and have been happy so far. I mainly use Zip for their wash and food service and the best part is you get an email when your order is ready. I usually drop my laundry off in the morning on the way to work and it’s always ready when I’m done with work. The girls who work there are also really nice. Overall I think it’s a great place!

Unfortunately, had some bad customer service after being a loyal customer for 3 years.

Love them. I always go here. Nice wprkers, they do there best to remove stains from your clothing and there are times they can surprise you.

I moved the the LES and landed on Zip simply because it was so close to my apartment. they are reliable and very fast! I usually drop the laundry off in the morning and by the time I am home from work it is washed, folded, and ready for pickup. The clothes are folded perfectly and smell clean and fresh — not an overpower chemically smell.
Great service!

I come to this store for one service, to have my shirts washed and pressed. Zip Laundry cannot seem to stick to one way to do this. Sometimes, when I drop of a various assortment of button-​down shirts, Zip Laundry takes them all. At other times, I am told shirts with pockets must be dry cleaned. At other times I am told shirts with metal buttons must be dry cleaned. However, many times they have all be accepted and washed and pressed. I cannot keep track of the shifting policies. Zip laundry has lost a customer, and if you are considering using them for the same reason, I hope all you own are dress shits with no pockets or metal buttons.

I’m new to the area so I was looking for a place to do my laundry. This place is just a couple streets down from me so it was the most obvious choice.
It’s pretty standard for any kind of laundry service if you’re looking for self service. I came in at like 3 and the place was pretty empty. I was able to finish rather quickly.
They also have drop off service if you’re into it.

Please people if at all possible avoid this business. Although it is easy to understand they outsource all their laundry and dry cleaning elsewhere, the customer service and very pour outcome of the treatment of clothing is just unacceptable.
I have had several shirts brought back from a wash and press job with ink and dirt-​like markings on them and have demanded them to be rewashed with little to no success after a second treatment. I finally decided to give up on these guys after months of support when it appears one of the workers at the store decided to cover one of my shirts in oil and grime along the collar after getting upset that I was clearly upset with other shirts that had been stained after washing. The outsourced factory cannot be trusted and the customer service is not acceptable either. This business needs to be shut down.

Soooo I was debating whether to give Zip a 4 or 5 since I’ve only given one other 5 before and really could not think of a reason of why they don’t deserve a 5.
I have off from work today for a summer Friday so I decided to do my laundry today (usually I use Zip’s wash and fold service — I’ll get to that next!) and I’m writing this while I’m here waiting for my clothes to dry… They’ve got seating, a TV, air conditioning, and most importantly the machines are CLEAN and look practically new. Given the other options in the area I think this place is as good as it gets. I live on Rivington and Suffolk and always pass this other Laundromat that’s a block west of me off of Essex (I think it’s called Lau’s if I’m not mistaken) and it always looks a bit sketchy from the outside with no seating old machines so I’ve never even tried using their service. This place is always clean and pretty much has everything you would want in a laundromat (and more… ie the free WiFi)
The wash and fold: always great service and reasonably priced. This is what I use 95% of the time when I do my laundry because of my hours. I’ve noticed my orders are usually ready the same day when I drop off my clothes off on my way to work in the am and the best part is they send you an email as soon as your order is ready. It makes things much easier IMO.
The dry cleaning: Same as the wash and fold… no complaints… prices are reasonable and you get an email when your shirts are ready.
I guess to summarize:
The pros —
— The place is really clean
— Free wifi and great seating area if you choose to do your own laundry
— They’re on top of their drop off service
— You get an email when your order is ready
— Good prices
The cons —
— Not sure of any cons… the only thing I could think of is that I’ve noticed sometimes this place gets very busy when I come pick up my clothes on weekends. I guess that means they’re doing something right though, right? Also, I guess it’s standard laundromat peak hours so its just what you should expect.
So if your living in the area already or new to the LES I highly recommend Zip.

Used this place for about 4 months, never had a problem. Mainly used them for the hours (open later than any other place in the area), but was always happy with the quality of the dry cleaning and wash n fold. Prices are reasonable as far as I can tell.
Wash and fold was always done within 24 hours, dry cleaning about 2 – 3 days. No complaints.

If losing your customers’ clothing is cool, consider this place Miles Davis.
I moved into the neighborhood just down the street from Zip and thought I’d give them a shot. Dropped off one button-​down shirt for drycleaning on a Tuesday, was told it would be ready by 5:00pm Saturday (apparently «Zip» is more aspirational than descriptive, but I digress). Returned on Saturday and spoke to a completely befuddled woman who had no idea where my shirt was or even what a blue striped button-​down shirt looks like, apparently. Left my phone number and name, was told to check back in the next day. Proceeded to check with them four times over the next two weeks and call twice, every time I was told (with increasing annoyance on their part) that they don’t have my shirt and that I will have to wait for a call from the manager who has been given my name and phone number.
I asked if I could call the manager myself, but of course they were not allowed to give out his phone number. I asked when the manager comes to the store, but of course he comes only at his whim and wholly unpredictably. The most recent time that I went in and asked (which was yesterday, Friday June 5) I was told that he never actually comes to the store but only operates out of a local office, the location of which the attendant had no idea. So basically I was dealing with the Captain Barbossa of drycleaning kingpins operating out of his very own Isla de Muerta on the Lower East Side. If they lose your shirt, it can only be found by someone who already knows where it is – and he won’t call you back unless your bring Keira Knightley with you (NOTE: I have not tried this yet, can’t comment on its effectiveness).
All this is to say that if you dig never seeing your shirts again, then Zip Laundry is your place. Move in close by and divest yourself of all your dryclean-​only paraphernalia.
Or don’t.

They somehow lost /​threw away my laundry bags. How do you do someone’s laundry and get rid of the bag? I was incredibly frustrated to go pick up my laundry to only find out they lost my nice laundry bags. They didn’t offer much of an apology and simply said they must have thrown it out. Probably the worst customer service I’ve dealt with. I’d rather walk an extra block for now on thanks.

They make you buy a card for $ 1. The cost of the large washer is $ 4.95
The dryers are 35 cents for 8 minutes.
It’s usually 25 cents for 7 minutes,
You can’t get your remaining money back from the card or turn in your card and get your $ 1 back.
It’s such petty nickle and dime scam. I don’t like rewarding bad neighbors.
There are other laundry mats you can go to in the neighborhood.

They somehow burned a hole in a vintage linen pillow case that I accidentally put in the laundry. Unfortunately it was a month before I unpacked it and noticed the hole so it wasn’t worthwhile to complain. For drop-​off service the laundry on Clinton between Stanton and Rivington (tiny storefront on W side of street) is much better. They do a great job and they also pick-​up and deliver.
As far as doing your own laundry at Zip, the washing machines somehow always put scented detergent smell on my clothes even though I use BioKleen free & clear, and I check the dispenser to make sure there is no left-​over detergent in there. The dryers impart a «burned» smell to the clothes, as if there had been a fire there at some point. It’s not really noticeable except on washcloths when I wet them and put them to my face, and then it’s an awful experience. I give this place two stars because it’s convenient, but no one would go to an inconvenient laundry so it’s really an undeserved star. Before Zip opened I used the laundry on Clinton for many years and they never damaged an item. They may have lost a sock or two but that’s inevitable. I went to Zip only to save a few steps and it was a mistake.

Nice place, but they should update their hours. Awfully cold to wait around outside for an hour.

I must say this place is my go to mat for the last two years. It is clean and they always do a great job making my laundry look and smell amazing. I just dropped off 17 lbs of laundry it is $ 25. I got the works and I don’t think it’s expensive at all. I don’t like to do laundry so it works out great.
The only bad thing here is that the new staff as of 2015 is not as great as far as customer service goes. (They loose my bag often and are looking for it for a while)

Really clean laundromat (such a nice change from the place I used to go in my previous apartment). What I really like is how when you give your laundry for drop off or you give your shirts for dry cleaning you get an email whenever it’s ready.

I wish I could give 0 stars. This is undoubtedly the worst laundromat in the city. They have ruined and lost clothes of mine and then not only denied it but never so much as offered even an apology (or my money back). I got my sheets back with huge rips and tears in them, my clothes back with gum stained on them (which they blamed on me even though I don’t even chew gum ever) and lost items of dry cleaning. When I got rightfully upset about my lost dry cleaning THEY yelled at ME because I was «upsetting them.» When I told them I don’t chew gum they told me I DID and that it was my fault. Everyone that works there has no understanding of customer service.
If you care about your clothing — be seriously warned. I’ll never go back.

This place is your stand fare laundromat, I only come here for the washing machines and dryers. I have my own reliable dry cleaner and I don’t plan on ever switching from them.
The only thing that really annoys me is how their staff reserves a whole line of machines, I mean during peak hours or on the weekends its like a bum rush of who comes first can wash their clothes.
I’ve never even bothered with the wifi password or staying there long enough to use any of their amenities because its so cramped in there.
They use cash cards. So 1 dollar deposits and fill it up, cause who has enough quarters to do laundry these days anyways?

This place was a block from the room I was renting so I figured I’d knock out my laundry here before leaving town. The place looked super clean and the staff was helpful. They loaned me a card so I wouldn’t have to buy one for $ 1 since I’m a tourist. Machines were fast and readily available. Works for me!
