Precilyn B Silvestre, DDS

Dr. Precilyn Silvestre-​Melo is one of the best dentists in bay area and if the surrounding areas. First of all, she is a very skilled dentist. She knows exactly what the patient needs and what to do. She is very kind, gentle, calm and caring too. I had a life changing smile make over under her care and I am really happy and highly satisfied of her work. She did 4 full porcelain crowns which looks and feels like real teeth. The color and texture are just like the rest of my teeth. I highly recommend her and her clinic. Check her out.

I was quite disappointed that Dr Silvestre did not notice any problem with my teeth at a visit 4 months before I was diagnosed by another dentist with a very decayed #14 molar. Dr Silvestre had done fillings, an exam, and taken X rays.
I had a root canal done on the molar elsewhere. Then got a $ 800 estimate from Dr Silvestre’s office for a crown lengthening, not including the cost of a new crown. This seemed unreasonable so I did some research and found that $ 465 was the cost with a recommended oral surgeon, so I had him perform the surgery. The whole, painful ordeal ended up costing $ 1700.
Also, during visits with Dr Silvestre, she was encouraging me to have an (overpriced) deep cleaning done and my new dentist said that my gums were very healthy and recommended I not have this done.

Dr. Silvestre caught my eye because her veneers were half price from most dentists. She seemed really nice and caring, stating that if any of her patients were in pain or not happy she would be glad to accommodate them. (Lie!) I got 8 veneers from her. When she took off my temporary veneers my gums were so swollen. The temporaries were covering half my gums and they were inflamed. Three days after when the swelling went down I noticed I had no gums in between my teeth! Which freaked me out. One tooth had a gap between the gum and veneer that I noticed with my tongue. I called and spoke with the receptionist who said she would call me back after she talked to the dentist. They never called me back. Not even a year after having my veneers, one just popped off. I called them to fix it but she wanted to charge me to glue it back on. Which I did not being I live 1 ½ hours away. I had my local dentist fix it since I had to pay anyways. Fifteen months later (present day) the veener with the gap from the tooth smells horrible and hurts. I know it’s from food debris getting in to the gap. I brush and floss everyday ! No amount of brushing makes the smell go away. I know there is a serious problem if there is a smell. I called and spoke to the receptionist who is very rude and unprofessional. Interrupting me every time I spoke. I explained to her how one of my veneers was not put on right and now it has a bad smell and my gum is getting irritated. She said it sounds like I’m not brushing right. If I’m not brushing right why is it only the veener with the gap giving me trouble? I just simply wanted them to fix the veener. Which they are refusing! «We will see you but we will recharge you» I paid them in cash, no payment plans! Dr. Silvestre is not taking responsibility or showing any concern. I had my dentist look at it and he told me there is a «ledge». Basically the veener was not bonded on right. He stated there was no way could I have done this. The only way you get a gap like this is from it being placed on wrong. My dentist faxed them saying I do have an open gap but she is refusing to take care of her mistake. Her receptionist told me to go have my dentist take care of it. Why would I pay for another veener when she should be the one responsible to fix it? I would definitely not recommend her. Veneers should last from 7 – 20 years. Mine didn’t even last one year! Horrible experience! Save your teeth! Don’t go to a dentist that does not care about her patient’s well being.

Dr. Silvestre seemed great at first but the customer service got progressively worse as she took over the practice. She persuaded me to get lumineers, but they ended up being a yellow-​grey color. This after she ASSURED me they would be white. She saw my mom later, and when my mom told her I was unhappy she said she would redo them if I called her back. I called her office back twice, and left a message with the person answering the phone twice. She never returned my calls. Over 1 year later I gave up all hope of a return call, but tried to make an appointment for a simple teeth cleaning, and almost made an appointment before I was transferred to someone who had no idea what I was talking about. Now I am stuck with yellow lumineers and am switching dentists.

My dentist went out of business and I needed to find another place, I don’t trust dentist. I booked an appointment here and Dr Silvestre was great. No cavities, YAY, and no hard sell on other services.

As for Ceasers review keep in mind he only needed his teeth extracted… After years of dealing with this dentist (I was a patient of Dr. Edmunds who owned this business before her since I was 6 years old) I finally have changed to a better more compassionate and knowledgeable dentist. Dr. P often is unaware of what tooth she is even supposed to work on. After finding another dentist I am being told her work was substandard and amateurish. I am now having to re-​do almost all of the work she had done on me just a few years prior. She is very expensive and often is clueless as to what procedure she is to do on you at appointment time and often defers to her assistants (who by the way ‘ARE’ professionals and are who actually what kept me going there for as long as I did.) I would never recommend this Dentist and I’m so glad to have found a new one who is much less expensive and very smart at General plus dental office on Thornton ave.

This is comment in response to Dr. Silvestre’s: My review is not a bogus. It is the truth based on my own personal experience in her office as her patient. While I may be incorrect of the location of her 2^nd office (perhaps the answering service was incorrect stating it was in Union City), I do stand by the statement that she was not readily available for her Newark patients because she was at her other office.
I hope that Dr. Silvestre will use the comment to improve her relationships with her patients.
UPDATE: From the doctor herself: her 2^nd office is «only» 18 miles away in San Jose. She said that if there’s an emergency, her patients can drive down to San Jose.
Now that’s patient care!

The doctor seems to think I have some sort of «professional jealousy», yet I’m not in her profession.
My comments are solely based on my experience in her office.
For the public record: I have NEVER had any dental issues until I went to this dentist. She’s been busy trying to discredit me rather than work on customer service for her business.
I was 100% her patient, as were my parents and my husband.
As a consumer, I stand behind my review of this dentist office. It is 100% factual.

This made me very leery of her ability to fix the crappy temp crown she put in and I decided against her doing the crown work. I got up & walked out of her office very upset. I work with patients & our Practitioner ALWAYS reviews the patient file before doing ANYTHING. After I went to a very reputable Dentist in Newark that I saw years ago, & I found out Dr. (if we really have to call her that) Silvestre was going to charge me twice as much as the Dentist I ended up having fix the crown. She is not about patient care at all. she’s about making money. So BEWARE & for your own good, do NOT have her for a Dentist! I’d give her NO STARS if I could.

Dr. Silvestre is a 5 Star Dentist!!! Very friendly and cool. My tetracycline stained/​discoloration teeth was permanently whiten without having to remove any of my natural tooth structure. She corrected spaces, gaps and misaligned on my teeth.

Dr. Silvestre is awesome! she is friendly and is a true pro! got my wisdom teeth removed with absolute pain-​free! :D extremely recommended if you are looking for a dependable and trustworthy dentist!
