Roy’s Cycle Service

Roy is the best motorcycle mechanic in town. I’ve brought my Honda VT1100C to him a few times for both routine and non-​routine services. Rebuilding forks, new tires, oil changes.. He’s always done a great job at a fair price. Recently some bozo backed into my bike and the whole front end was tweeked out of alignment. Handlebars, forks, and front wheel were all sideways. Roy readjusted everything and it rides like a dream. He’s the best!

I’ve gone to Roy’s for a few years now for routine and non-​routine maintenance on my Suzuki Vstrom. Every time he’s gone the extra mile to make sure everything works right and is safe. From new tires, chains, and fluid changes, he’s done great work. It’s consistent and all at a fair price. Once he even noticed a blinker that was cracked and simply fixed it just because (at no extra charge). If you want good service and a good price, I recommend his shop highly.

I have always been coming here for years when i have a problem with my bike or need a tune up. Roy always gives a fair price and tells you what needs to be fixed or can tell you what can wait or should be fixed soon. If you pick a trusty mechanic, pick roy.

Cool shop… I can always expect Roy to be very helpful, knowledgeable, and cut me a good deal on the parts or labor I need…

Just traded in my 2009 Kawasaki after 5 years of commute and 60 000 thousand miles of no service by me and 100% by Roy. Over the years Roy have kept me safe, got me the best tires and fixed things needed. I remember one time, the stater got recalled and I had Bert’s fix it. Of course I got stranded with a dead bike at the shell station. Called Roy, he came and picked me up and I had it fixed in no time. The Kawasaki served me real well and I stayed alive all these years racing the 14 to the 5 to the 405 really fast every day. This should really be in sports TV. Not a single flat in all these years. Strange huh, had way over 13k miles when I switched the last ones.
So get this (and this is all Roy).; I got more than I thought for the trade in with the sales guys comment: «the bike is in great shape although it’s got all this miles on it». Really, nothing bad?
Roy is experienced and as down to the ground as they come. If you travel on two wheels in 130 every day, you need that quality of a mechanic. My record at 8 am from 14 to 405, Rosencrans (43a exit) Redondo in full traffic, 32 minutes. Beat that;) now I am 100 horsepower less on an Indian scout. But I am sure I will get that over to Roy in the future, can’t beat my record with this one though;)
If you have a café project he would be the man to go to as well.

I gave this place a chance, several, and really wanted to like them because of how close they are to my house. After my experiences here, it’s inspired me to learn to work on the bike myself.
I’ve spent $ 2000 with Roy on upgrading and repairing my DRZ400. When Roy wants to do a good job, he does. However I find him to be very lazy most of the time and unwilling to do a job correctly.
A few examples: I needed my chain shortened and riveted to a certain length where it would fit both the large sprocket on my dirt wheels and a small sprocket on my street wheels. I have done this before on several older chains, so it can be done. I dropped off my dirt wheels and street wheels so that he can make sure that they fit. I come back three days later and all he did was reuse the clip MasterLink and did not even try to fit the dirt wheels. The chain is now too short for my dirt wheels.
When I asked him if he made sure that both wheels fit, he just replied «no.» And when asked why he didn’t rivet the chain as I had requested, he said «I didn’t have a rivet link.» So it was too much effort for you to Drive 2 miles to cycle gear to get the right link? Or even order one on Amazon, charge me $ 20 or some ridiculous price for it and at least get the job done correctly? Like i said, lazy. Oh and I was still charged $ 130 for this «service»
After freshly powder coating my wheels (and waiting a week for them to cure) I brought them to him to put on new tires. I emphasized how these were just painted so I really didn’t want them damaged. Which shouldn’t be done anyways. He scratched the hell out of my front wheel and charged me full price for it with no apology.
When I had my suspension rebuilt by him, he told me that there would be an extra charge for him having to pull off the suspension from the bike and ship it out to someone else. Why should I have to pay for his inability to do the suspension himself? Sure it came out well, but I paid $ 130 too much for it.
After doing almost $ 1000 worth of motor and suspension work at one time, I asked Roy if he could drop the bike off to my house because I had surgery done and could not lift the bike. He said he could do it but for $ 40 because that would make him «take the long route home». I asked him why he couldn’t help me out especially because of how much money I’ve been spending with them. He would not budge. I literally live 3 miles away. Yes I asked him to help me out where he didn’t need to, but it is another example of him refusing to go the extra mile for a VERY good customer.
He always acts like he is doing you a favor by working on your bike. If I’m paying you and keeping your business afloat, who is doing the favor in that situation?

Roy and his team really have it together. I brought in 3 bikes and 2 quads for service. In addition to providing a complete service (oil, filter, air system, plug, valve adjustment and lube — as required) Roy reviewed proper function and tolerances for each system and made recommendations based on need. As a result, my bikes are running as good as new.
Further, my WR 450 was spitting oil out of the breather tube which I though was the result of a bad valve. Instead, Roy determined that I had put too much oil in it.
Clearly a stand up guy with integrity. Coupled with technical skill and price fairness, it doesn’t get any better.

Brought my old xr600 here for some electrical work. Roy is the only shop that would touch the bike since he knew more about older dual sports. I just love going there and listening to his stories. Great guy and he takes care of his customers and prices are better than any dealerships in the area.

I recently sold a quad and the buyer wanted to have it inspected before he finalized the purchase. I recommended Roy because I have use him in the past. The buyer agreed because he had also used Roy’s services before.
Needless to say, it was a smooth transaction that was honest and affordable. If your looking for great motorcycle shop, look no further.
Roy is genuinely a nice guy who will not overcharge or recommend things you don’t need.

Roy is the only mechanic I trust to work on my bike. It’s as simple as that. He knows what he’s doing, he’s an honest man, and he does what he says he’ll do on time. He’s funny too!
I commute by bike: 90 miles per day. If you depend on your bike like I depend on mine, depend on Roy!

Roy is as good as it gets. He first worked on my Bandit years ago when he worked for a local bike dealer that thankfully went out of business. It took me a few years to reconnect with him at Roy’s Cycle Service, but I am sure glad I did. He is the only guy I would have work on my bike.

The only place to have ur bike worked on! I an a long distance rider and Roy keeps my bike happy and on the rode to do more miles.

Once, my Ducati 999 actually caught fire while leaving the Newhall DMV. Luckily, Roy is right across the street. He literally put out the fire and dropped everything to help me out. The cost? A six pack of beer. I’m not joking… Roy works for beer. This guy is the real deal.

Roy doesn’t just treat you like another number. He talks to you. He explains what he’s doing. He actually seems like he cares about your bike, and about you as a customer.
I went in for an oil change (day 1) on my ’02 Yamaha XVS1100. They told me it would be ready «soon.» I ran a couple of errands, then came back around an hour and a half later, but it wasn’t done.
No problem. I told him I’d be back the next day.
The next day (day 2), I came back to pick up my bike. I paid for the oil change. He walked me out and then remembered to show me that my front brake pads were almost completely gone.
He didn’t have the pads in stock, but told me they would be in the next day if I wanted him to place the order. I agreed and then headed home.
The next day (day 3) I came back and paid for the brake job. Roy told me that he took it on a test ride to make sure everything was good. Then he told me that he didn’t like the way my bike felt, so he made some adjustments. He told me if I didn’t like the adjustments, I could always bring it back and have them reversed.
Who does that? Who goes above and beyond– especially when they aren’t charging you any extra? Not many people these days.
I rode my bike home, and really appreciated the extra fine-​tuning he performed. It handles much better now.
Under average circumstances, I would have taken a star away for the inconvenience of driving all the way to Newhall from Sylmar just to find out that my bike wasn’t ready (or needed more work). Making a simple phone call while working on my bike would have saved me the trip– BUT it’s a small shop. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest and simple oversight.
Why am I doing that? Because you just don’t find businesses these days who go out of their way for the customer like Roy did. I’ve never taken my car to a repair shop and had them perform fine-​tuning tweaks on their own. They always suggest things, but of course want to charge for the service.
I will return to Roy for all my bike repair needs!

Roy is the best; have been taking my bike to him for a year now and has always been very helpful and reasonable pricing…

I went into Roy’s Cycle about one month after I bought my first real motorcycle, a Kawasaki Ninja 250.
My horn had stopped working, so I went in to see if they could fix it. Well he fixed the horn in about 30 seconds, and informed me that my engine was falling out. He tweaked my entire bike in about 10 minutes, and it felt like a different (MUCH SAFER) vehicle.
He informed me that I needed to replace my rear tire soon (which other shops had told me as well) and that I needed a new sub frame (since part of it was literally missing). He ordered it, and it was there within 2 days.
They replaced the tire, and they noticed a tight spot in the chain. They showed it to me, and it was obviously dangerous, so they replaced it quickly.
As if enough hadn’t happened that week, my front brake seized after sitting outside my gym in the heat. Roy looked at it, investigated, and found that someone had tried to grind down a brake lever to match my model, but it wasn’t stock and had the brake stuck. He got me a new lever, and replaced the brake fluid within half an hour.
My sub frame came in the day after we ordered it, and he installed it, painted over a little chipped paint, changed out my cracked blinkers, and gave it a quick oil change all in less than an hour.
Basically, I bought a terrible bike with a ton of problems unknowingly, and without Roy’s expertise, I probably would be dead right now. He’s a great guy, and you really, REALLY can trust him. He’s not going to overcharge you, and he gets the job done very quickly. 2 other motorcycle shops let me LEAVE when it was totally messed up, without saying a word about any of the problems… I cannot thank him and his team enough!
I would recommend Roy’s to anybody that I know. Whether you have a scooter/​street-​bike/​cruiser/​ATV, whatever, take it in. He will know what to do.

Being a Triumph owner, I was looking for someone with Triumph knowledge, and lucky for me Roy was the man. Took my Speedmaster in there for a tune-​up and he did an amazing job. Very happy with his service. Great customer service as well. I recommend this place.

I have a Honda VTX 1800 N. I have been to Roy’s Cycle and would highly recommend Roy to anyone. He knows motorcycles & WILL NOT sell you anything you do not need NOR will he do work that you do not need. He is a straight shooter and as good as they get! I like the personal no rush service & if he can do it in a day and has the time he will! Better yet call 1^st, make an appointment and then let him do his magic!
