Hallmark Resort

This was indeed my favorite place on our road trip. We had the king size bed with Jacuzzi. Room was very clean, no smells/​odors. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi, although we had to buy our own salts. They offered robes for us. We had a gas fireplace. Ordered room service. Food was very good. View was spectacular. Customer service was excellent. The amenities were awesome although we only stayed one night so we didn’t take advantage of any of it. The room was so gorgeous, I just wanted to enjoy the room. I will definitely be coming back!

This place is really wonderful for traveling with dogs. And for being a person while traveling with dogs. My partner and I got the suite with hot tub – incredible (!) and enjoyed a beautiful ocean view, while our dog was treated to his own gift bag, including dog treats, a frisbee, his own towel and sheet. Dog rooms tend to be ground floor so you can easily get to the beach or even stumble out of the door to walk the dog at 1am, if necessary. A small porch also allows you to watch the waves and raise a glass of wine, while dog avidly watches other dogs go by… The beach here is beautiful and dog friendly, and the hotel is near to a grocery store (where we bought our dinner) in addition to having its own small store with dvd and snacks. It’s a little too expensive for a long stay, but then we did spring for the suite (and that made for a romantic weekend).

We definitely enjoyed our stay. We stayed for 2 nights while celebrating our anniversary. In addition to the clean and comfortable room, our view was amazing and the hotel offered complimentary champaign to help us celebrate. The staff was friendly and the George’s (next door) was always delicious. We often ate there not only for the convenience but also because everything we had was so tasty. This resort on the ocean is highly recommended.

Wonderful beds! Great location and the staff are all friendly and helpful. They allow dogs and even give them treats and a frisbee. Views from every room. There are a few steps down to a great beach for long walks with your dog. The rooms with the jacuzzi’s are great!

Came here with kids, the room is nice! But the laundry room only has one washer that works and one dryer! Huge resort! Also the gas fire place was broken. The beach access was really great!

We have been to the Newport Hallmark Resort several times. We love it. The rooms are beautiful, they are wonderful to our dog, providing lots of treats. The view of the beach is great, and it is easy to reach – lots of steps on the stairs for us older people but well worth it. We leave the door to the balcony open a little at night and listen to the ocean. Heaven! The food at Georgie’s is excellent and there are lots of other really good restaurants near. We walk to the Nye Beach area for the shops and food.

This place was amazing! We came right after Christmas and were extremely happy. The hotel was right on the beach-​a must for Oregon weather since you don’t know when the rain will stop to walk! And the best part is that it is very clean! Everyone was friendly. The restaurant on site was convenient and delicious. Can’t wait to come back and bring my kids!

This is what I imagine an Oregon Coast version of a Poconos resort might be like, but without the season ending dance number where nobody puts baby in a corner.
The place is basically a 10 story building lying seductively on its side, knees drawn up and hand under head. It curves along the coastline with a hundred windows facing the magnificent Pacific Ocean. There are suites that are more like homes, with big living rooms and multiple bedrooms, and I can see families coming back season after season. The attached restaurant has a big menu with all the right boozy treats, and you don’t even have to come down for dinner. They are happy to bring it to you.
We had a tiny room for just one night, off season in March, and it was stormy as heck. But it was warm, and romantic, and the desk clerk caught my husband smiling at me with undisguised love and was moved to send a complimentary bottle of champagne over.
We didn’t bring our dog this time, but she would have been welcome. They even provide goody bags for pups, with Frisbees for chasing down on the beach, treats for after, and a water bottle. And it didn’t smell like dog anywhere. The whole place was clean and fresh.
It’s got an older vibe to it and you might pass it up for a new chain brand place up the street, but don’t miss this one. Check in then head down the long stairs to the incredible, never ending beach. Collect some shells and driftwood. Run through the cold surf. Have a drink, eat some seafood, sleep well.

The hotel was nice the room was great. Especially with the jacuzzi and amazing view. The only negative I have to say is the bed though it was king size wasn’t comfortable as I woke up stiff and also the pillows were very flat. For those reason I give this place not a perfect 5 star.

Didn’t disappoint. It is apparent that there was a lot of thought that went into designing and building the hotel — from the simple things like having the sink outside the bathroom, the quiet fan in the bathroom, and the comfortable chairs inside the room and on the balcony for watching the waves come in and out. The front desk staff was the best that we encountered during our travels though Oregon. If we return to Newport, we will stay here again.

If you want to vacation with your dogs, the Hallmark is a great spot to stay. Not only are dogs (and cats) allowed, but they are welcomed with treats, toys, and water dishes!
Whether you’re on the ground floor with a patio or on an upper floor with a balcony, you will have a lovely view of the beach and ocean. One of my favorite things about staying at the Hallmark is the beach access. You just walk down some stairs and you’re at the ocean. The beach is long and wide and in our experience, we’ve rarely crossed paths with other people. If you need some peace and quiet, this is your place.
The rooms aren’t necessarily modern, but they are very clean and comfortable with cable and wi-​fi. Also, if you have dogs, they provide you with dog towels and sheets, so you don’t have to contend with sandy paws. I recommend the room service from Georgie’s — the clam chowder bread bowl is fantastic.
Check-​in is at 4, which seems a little late, but they do their best to accommodate early arrivals. If nothing else, they’ll hold your bags while you comb the beach.

Valentine’s Day weekend was wonderful at the Hallmark Inn in Newport! The King room with spa tub was remarkably clean and well equipped and the view from our room was truly incredible: walk outside, BOOM! Ocean. Check in and check out was fast and painless, and they gave me a rose at check-​out, to note V-​Day. A nice touch!
A quick trip to the gift shop for some feminine products left me in a lurch, as they were out stock of what I needed… but one of the girls from behind the desk gave me a few from her purse. Talk about above and beyond! Girl code, love! Thank you!!!
On our last morning, we ordered breakfast in-​room from Georgie’s. I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon instead of ham = because BACON! I was disappointed when I cut into my eggs and they had no run to the yolk at all. They were overcooked and the yolks were more hard-​boiled in consistency than runny as a poached egg should be. BUMMER! Stellar customer service yet again, when I called to mention it to the room service line and the dish was removed from our charges.
Despite that they were out of stock of tampons in the gift shop and the lackluster eggs benedict, I’m still giving them 5 stars. Things happen! For me, it’s about the way these things are handled that tell me the quality of the establishment. They took care of us impressively and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Been many years since I had stayed here. Decided here over the embarcadero this time. Staff has been very polite. Addressed a misunderstanding in the type of room I was hoping for. And offered us breakfast on them for the hassle. I had ordered a sunset, but the sounds of the ocean are worth the clouds.
Still feels more like a motel room over a condo at the embarcadero, but the ocean front makes it all worth it.

I have stayed at The Hallmark many times and every single time it’s the same… AMAZING. Perfect service. Extremely clean rooms. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Every room has an amazing view of the ocean. It’s my favorite spot of the coast.
Btw order room service from Georgie’s. Is so so so so good. The crab Benedict is amazing.
I am writing this review from the couch on the 5^th floor and it’s amazing. Fireplace on and crashing waves outside the sliding glass door. A perfect moment in life.

We checked in on Sunday and we were able to get in earlier check in.
The room was amazing there was a fireplace and you can see the beach out or sliding door.

My partner and I had our wedding at the Hallmark this past weekend. We felt it was going to be a good idea to have all our guests lodge there for convenience sake, with rooms, a ceremony space, and food services all under one roof, and so we chose the Hallmark after being given a tour of the facilities a few weeks earlier. What a great decision this turned out to be!
The staff was thoughtful, courteous and welcoming to all of our group, and everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home at the Resort. Our guests loved their room with a view, and the restaurant provided excellent meals. The catering service for our wedding reception produced an outstanding dinner and we all felt pampered and genuinely appreciated.
While I know that not everyone would opt to have their wedding at a hotel, I assure readers that the Hallmark gets nothing but the highest praise from my husband, our guests and myself for delivering a most memorable experience.

This hotel is wonderful! From check-​in until check-​out, our experience was fabulous!
We arrived right at check-​in time. The gal that checked us in, Heather, was so great! After a 10 ½ hour drive, it was very nice that our room was ready and that the front desk staff was so friendly and helpful!
About a week before we were to arrive, we decided to add an additional day to the beginning of our vacation. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us with a room. They tried to add an additional night to our existing reservation, but the room we were to stay in was occupied. Heather informed us that the next morning we could load our bags on a luggage cart and bring it down to the front desk. They would put it in a locker and take it to our new room for us after the room was ready.
We stayed our first night in a 3^rd floor, and then moved to the 5^th floor (room 558) for the remainder of our stay. Both rooms were limited edition king spa suites. The rooms were clean and roomy. Each had a kitchenette which featured a medium fridge, sink, dishwasher, microwave, sufficient counter space that served very well as a bar, flatware, dishes, glasses, cups, knives, glass serving dishes, and a coffee maker. The king spa rooms have a large, 2-​person jetted tub, a (very comfortable) king bed, double sinks, a shower, a sitting area, a fireplace, two televisions, and a balcony. The towels were fluffy, the sheets and comforter were cozy and soft, there were tons of pillows, and there were two big bath robes. Everything was clean, clean, clean!
The property was beautiful, the views were spectacular. Beach access is very easy. There is ice, laundry, and vending machines on each floor. The lobby was clean and welcoming. There are places to sit and look out over the ocean on each of the foyer levels. The gift shop had sundries, necessities, a small selection of beer, and also DVD rentals (free with room). They sell a «fire-​in-​a-​bag» that worked GREAT — it’s a burlap sack filled with wood and paper… just light the tag and it will burn for about an hour on the beach.
There were very FEW things about our stay that bothered us… none of which would impact our decision to stay again, but I want to be fair and include the negative along with the positive.
The placement of the «pet area» was a bit annoying. Chances are, there is no other place to have it, but the pet area was right below our balcony in both of the rooms we stayed in, and it was always a pretty busy place. To wake up early, sit on the balcony with cup of freshly brewed coffee and a book to watch the sun rise, only to look out over several people with pooping dogs was a bit of a disappointment :/​I understand that this is a pet friendly resort, I just wish that the pet area were located elsewhere… like somewhere out front away from the ocean views.
The balconies, while providing fabulous views and plenty of space, were set up a bit strangely. There was only a very short wall (3′ high) separating the balconies. If someone wanted to, they could, quite literally, walk the length of the building using only the ocean view balconies. This made for little privacy, and quite a bit of leeriness to leave the slider open while we slept. Upon our return to our room the one and only day we elected to have our room cleaned, our balcony slider was left wide open by the cleaning staff. While it was nice to have the ocean air to come back to, it was a bit disturbing. Nothing had been taken, so no harm no foul, but anyone staying on the 5^th floor of that building could have entered our room.
We used Georgie’s room service several times. In general, we were pleased with the food and the service. On Sunday night we called to see what time they were closing. We were told they would take our room service order until 10:00p. We called back at 9:40p to place our order, and they informed us that they closed at 9:00p. When I told them we had called earlier to inquire about their hours, they said it was a mistake… they forgot that it was Sunday and they close early. To their credit, they told us we could have soup or salads, but we declined.
Lastly, the hot tub/​pool area, while very clean and nice, was way too hot and muggy. It was so hot and muggy we could not sit in the hot tub or swim in the pool. This room could definitely use some ventilation… I think even if the outside doors were allowed to be left open, the problem would have been solved.
I want to give HUGE kudos and LOUD shout out to Heather! She was fabulous! She was always very happy and super friendly! She gave us lots of information on restaurants, helped us with all of our questions, and, in general, was just awesome! Thank you so much Heather for making our trip so enjoyable! The other staff member we want to mention was Hugo. He brought our bags up when we switched rooms, and brought us extra hangers for the closet. Every time we saw him, he was friendly and very helpful.

Newport is a neat little beach town on the Oregon coast. Reasonably priced, with fun things to do (and within driving range of other destinations), it can be a nice place to visit over the weekend when going down Highway 101. When you do visit your choice of hotels will matter, and I can tell you the Hallmark is a solid choice for trip.
Rooms:
The first thing to note is the view from the rooms is astounding. Benefiting from prime real estate, the rooms look right out onto the ocean, and have beach access below. The rooms themselves are clean and cozy and the deck (or floor patio) will give you an excellent view of the ocean. The rooms look relatively new, and the beds are above average in terms of comfort. Lower units can have a fair amount of noise, which is a major strike against it. Some, but not all, of the units have a fireplace, and if you’ve got a top floor the ceiling will be vaulted giving you almost a «beach-​lodge» feel. Controlling and keep the temperature consistent isn’t an issue, though it’s tempting with the ocean noise to simply leave the windows open. Insider tip: Ask for a top floor room – you’ll have a quieter night and the vaulted ceilings are a nice touch.
Amenities/​Service:
Service is extremely solid. The front desk will share with you the details of the hotel grounds, as well as give you reference points to Newport. They are very «pet-​centric» here, even providing little goodies for those with pets (dog frisbee/​towels/​water bottles et.) Honestly during our trip the hotel staff were fantastic. They talked us through the Newport area as well as the Hallmark itself. They ended up swapping rooms for us when we had some heavy noise from an adjoining room. The cleaning staff is friendly and fantastic.
A peak outside your room will reveal a lobby area that is pretty vast and extremely cozy. There are great common views of the ocean and shared fireplaces. The décor is nice and warm. You’ve got walkways that are protected from the elements and give easy access. The front desk has a little gift/​convenience shop that also allows you to check out movies for free. The attached restaurant (Georgie’s) does a nice job (can get busy for dinner on weekends) of providing good seafood and other standard offerings. It’s worth a brunch trip if you’re staying there. You’ve also got a nice pool area well set off from the main area.
Summary:
The Hallmark can be spendy versus other options, but if you time things right and shop around you can get a deal around the $ 120 area on a weekend (and less on weekdays). If you can, you won’t be disappointed for the value you get.

I’ve come to the coast many times and I’ve done motels, hotels, and bed and breakfasts — and nothing comes close to Hallmark.
We stayed in a room with a jacuzzi tub, and as a germaphobe I normally avoid hotel tubs — this was immaculate (and the hot water was fast and never ran out, which should be a no brainer but has happened at other hotels).
The view is remarkable (see the photos).
And the staff did everything from buy us dessert (because they had sold out of the fish of the day), to surprise us with a gift package because it’s Valentine’s Day weekend.
I can’t recommend this place enough.

This pace kind of stunned me. The website is terrible, like a mish-​mash of bad graphics from 1995. The exterior is dated, think 1980’s Red Lion Inn. But…

Beautifully remodeled room, with a great bath, jetted in room tub, lovely seating facing the ocean. Its not quite as posh as some of the high brow resorts at Cannon Beach or Gold Beach, but it is close and the beach front access is tres bon.
It gets better. the food service from the adjoining restaurant is exceptional! And room service is speedy! Whta great stay! Friendly staff too.
My only quibble is the gas firepalce on a very lmited timer. Other resorts in the area have no timer.
