Dellaria Salon and Day Spa

All employees and stylist’s at Dellaria go above and beyond expectations. I am extremely picky, and am always happy with my haircut and services at Dellaria Day Spa in Newton. The bad reviews on Unilocal were very surprising to me, as I have been coming here for 25 years and have never had a bad experience. The customer service is very good. I’m thinking the bad reviewers are unhappy people who will never be satisfied with anything. Dellaria is an excellent salon, and I would recommend to men and woman of any age. There are lots of available services, the stylists treat you like family, and the prices are reasonable.

I was given a gift certificate for a facial and a name/​number to call. Instead, I used the modern method and went online to make an appointment. When I went to pay, the manager refused to accept the payment bc of who wrote it out. As a customer, I have zero knowledge of who the name on the referenced is so it should be honored. The manager threatened not to pay his employee if I didn’t pay for the service the gc is good for. He also claimed that DELLARIA isn’t in a position to pay for my facial… which is garbage. Why are you handing out gift certificates then? After making a scene and demanding they honor the gift certificate, the manager finally relented. As opposed to insulting an unknowing client, take it up with whoever gave the gift. I’m horrified by this lack of customer service and threat not to pay their employee. I won’t return and I will be vocal to anyone I know who thinks of going there.

Joseph is AMAZING!!! I went somewhere else and was botched with yellow hair dye and was in tears. My friend recommended him and he rocked my life. My hair color was corrected and was so beautiful!!! I could not be happier. I would recommend to anyone who has ever been scared by bad dye to see the color genius, Joseph.

The manager agreed I had a bad haircut that was uneven. He agreed I should have my money back. He said «yeah I wondered what happened yesterday.»
As is their policy, he had to talk to corporate and then my money had to be refunded over the phone. When I called, I asked if the manager, Ernie, had figured out «what had happened» his words, mind you. He said” Life isn’t perfect. We have already bended over backwards for you.“
How is this place even open? No life isn’t perfect. But when you AGREE and WONDER ALOUD what happened with my hair, then I ask you the same question, assuming you talked to your stylist as you know it was a bad haircut, I would assume you could take some responsibility –an off day? Drugs? dementia? who knows.
It is inappropriate, immature, and condescending to imply you bend over backwards by giving a customer’s money back when you agreed that there haircut was bad. Life isn’t perfect folks remember Ernie’s thoughtful words. But also remember that there are Spas on Unilocal that DO HAVE PERFECT RATINGS.
Beware people. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!

I had a very disappointing experience here. I had my hair cut by Loren and told him that I’d like an inch to an inch and a half off the bottom and a tapered cut, since my hair is very thick and heavy. Instead of doing this, he cut off about 3.5 inches. It was cut bluntly with no layers at all (except for the back, which was very uneven) and the left side was about half an inch longer than the right side. I guess the only thing he did well was the blowout, as he managed to curl it under enough that I couldn’t tell how bad it actually was until I washed and blow dried it the next day.
When I called and asked to speak to the manager and/​or come in to have it fixed, the receptionist told me I couldn’t come back in until the next day, or I could go to another Dellaria and have it fixed there. Before I could ask exactly how this would work, the receptionist hung up on me.
I called around to different Dellarias and was able to get in to the Cambridge salon later that day. Ariana, the receptionist there is a saint and Sotiria was able to fix the cut. However my hair is still about 4.5 inches shorter than I asked for and a completely different style.

I have been getting a bikini wax here for at least 10 years, LOVE Natasha! She does a really nice job and is always nice and friendly. I know she does facials too but I haven’t tried her yet for that service. Price is very affordable!

I always have a great haircut with Yvette. She is very professional and listens to exactly what I want.

They lost a customer today.
I have never been treated so rudely in my life.
My first time going to this salon, as I was referred here by a friend, what a mistake. I made an appointment for 2:30 for a manicure, showed up at the salon at 2:15, my appointment was in the system and I was told I was all set and could go downstairs. When I got downstairs there was only three women who were working and none of them looked up to even greet me. Not knowing who my manicurist was, I sat down and waited. Finally one woman looked up and said what time is your appointment and I replied 2:30. Another woman, who was a regular, came and said she also had an appointment at 2:30. The woman working there said well this girl said her appointment is at 2:30. She asked me who it was with, and I said Natasha. The manicurist then goes I’ll have to call Natasha. Natasha was no where to be found, and after about 10 minutes Natasha comes in and starts speaking in another language, possibly Russian with the other tech. Natasha then comes over to me, doesn’t say hi or introduce herself, but says I don’t know how I’m going to do your manicure because I don’t have a table for you. I was taken aback by how rude it was. Natasha began running back and forth between another woman getting her nails done and then finally stormed upstairs just leaving me sitting. By now it’s 2:45 and been sitting in the salon for 30 minutes. I just decided to get up and leave, after another nail tech says can you wait another 5 – 10 minutes. I walk upstairs and Natasha is complaining to the receptionist about my appointment. I told them both I have never been treated so rudely, and that it was if me being there was an inconvenience to everyone downstairs. Natasha didn’t even apologize to me, it was like she could care less that she made, what was going to be a paying customer, feel completely embarrassed and as if I was in the wrong by making an appointment. The receptionist tried to give me a gift card, but at that point there was no way I’d be going back to that place. Dellaria Salon has some of the rudest workers I’ve ever encountered, they should really reevaluate their staff and how they treat people.

I do not have enough stars for the Star of Dellaria Salon and Day Spa– Kashmira. I hesitate to write this post because I don’t want her schedule to become even more busy, but Kash is without a doubt one of the sweetest, most amazing women I know and she is so gentle and good at her job.
I have been to a couple of other waxers in the past, but after going to Kashmira I refuse to trust anybody else in regards to waxing.
IN FACT — I live in New York now but my family lives in Newton, so I actually make an appointment every time I know I’m going to visit Newton so I can see Kashmira. By the time I get to her, I look like a hairy ape because I haven’t waxed since my last visit to her, but it’s so worth it.
She’s just the best.

I had a so so experience at this salon. First off I like the location and my stylist was very nice, I believe her name was Cindy, it was a few months ago so I could be wrong. I had a little trim, touched up my highlites and was happy with my hairctu.
I wasn’t happy was the person that cut my daughters hair, I can tell at the beginning she was not happy cutting a child’s hair. I understand a lot of children can be very tough to work with. my daughter acted just fine and listen to her stylist instructions, her haircut was very poor in my opinion and the stylist kept telling her to stop moving, I don’t think she was moving at all, I don’t even really understand what the stylist was talking about.
I don’t think I’ll be returning.

2 reasonably good haircuts this summer and then — YIKES??? What happened?
My Saturday appointment went like this, 25 minutes in the chair; chop chop — any old how, followed by a 1 minutes… close your eyes while I blow the loose, cut hair off your shoulders followed by a bye-​bye! Really?
What happened to drying my hair? It was cold on Saturday and I was sent out of there with wet hair! No product (other than the shampoo and conditioner by Jeremy — who, by the way is super nice), and, what’s more it wasn’t till I got to the car that I realized I had not even been shown the back of my head!!! All of that for $ 55 plus 2 tips.
By the time I got home — the hair was plastered to my head and I had to get into the shower to rewash it and blow dry it. Now it sticks out at the sides — I hate it.
Last time I’m going here.

I used to leave Boston and go to the burbs to get my haircut by Pam. She is not only a great stylist but the nicest, sweetest woman you can imagine. I no longer live in Boston but miss the great cuts and treatment I got there!

Where to begin with this horrible experience I had yesterday at this salon…
I booked my appointment online for a cut and blow dry, I have never been at this Dellaria salon location so I was not sure who to book it with but needed a last minute evening appointment (mistake on my part for not calling them to ask who is best recommended).
As I booked online, I added in the comment box that I have hair extentions in so that the hair stylist will know ahead of time.
As I got to the appointment and checked in at the front desk, I went all the way downstairs to where the actual salon was, I was then greeted by a sweet older hair stylist. I’m not going to lie, as nice as she was, I was nervous as to how she will cut my hair.
I didn’t need anything too complicated, just a few inches off and longer layers. I immidiately saw the technique of how she was cutting (straight across) instead of into the hair in order for the hair and the layers to blend in together. I am no hairdresser but I know the different ways of cutting hair and how it will end up looking like. At this point it was too late. The hair stylist clearly has not learned newer cutting techniques in many many years and it resulted with my hair looking super choppy, basically as if a 5 years old just cut my hair with some scissors. Nothing is blended in nicely.
On top of the horrible hair cut, there is clearly no communication with the front desk who receives the online bookings and the hair stylists. They never told her I had hair extentions and she had to ask me if I wanted to dry my hair (when I clearly booked a cut and blow dry, so yes I would like my hair dried).
If the front desk had told her I had hair extentions, and she wasn’t comfortable with it, they should have called me and told me to book with someone else.
Aside from the fact that the whole experience was horrible (including the hair stylist asking me if I get grey hair out of the blue for no reason… mind you i’m 27), the cut is just so so bad.
I’m not naming the hair stylist because I feel bad as she was super sweet otherwise. but I will warn everyone to either call and ask the front desk for recommendations (hopefully if they even know) or not come here at all.

This review is for 2 items: The interior: a dump, run down and filthy, needs a complete overall, dated and oh soooo, tired.

The women working at the reception front desk: dumb, dumber and really dumb. How many vapid, sans a brain, people does it take to figure out how to to return and exchange 1 product for another? Apparently 5 people… very sad. Management might want to coach the front desk people to lose the attitude, ’cause it ain’t work’in… But then «you can’t fix stupid»…sigh!

This review is for waxing only. I had read a few reviews about how good Kashmira is, so I decided to book with her for a Brazilian. She is incredible. Warm, sweet, and I couldn’t believe how gentle she was-​my second wax was almost completely painless! I couldn’t be happier with her, and I no longer dread my monthly waxing visits. She’s SO fast, but completely thorough-​exactly what you want when you’re getting your body hair ripped out!

Awkward building with virtually no self parking, but they have a valet take your car so that’s nice.
The haircut I got was just okay. I printed out the coupon from the website — had a bit of a hassle with using it. On the phone, they said absolutely, but at the end, when I went to pay, I found out it depends on the stylist and my stylist was surprised and at first said she didn’t accept them. She eventually did because I said I had been told it would when I called, but still, not a great interaction.
Overall, it was expensive for what I got: a so-​so haircut.

I went in on two separate occasions and had two different stylists (one older and one younger), so I expected different results. I received a terrible haircut both times. The location was nice enough, but I won’t be taking another chance here. Good luck if you decide to go here.

This review is for eyebrow waxing. Before going to Sabina a couple months ago, I would go to random people whenever I needed my eyebrows done which led to my eyebrows looking thin, shapeless and just awful! My sister recommended I go to Sabina and I am so glad she did! Sabina really took the time to look at my face and to shape my eyebrows accordingly. I can honestly say more people have complemented me on my «beautiful eyes» in the last few months than ever before, which I can solely attribute to my perfectly shaped eyebrows. Not only is Sabina amazing at what she does, she is also such a fun and pleasant person to be around and is always so accommodating to my schedule! Sabina is really the best and I highly recommend her!

I went to Dellaria after I had a really bad experience with a salon about 2 – 3 months ago. Since my experience I haven’t cut my hair and I’ve been dying from a box… eww! I went to Dellaria on a whim because I was desperate for a style and to cover my roots!
I upon walking in I was so nervous because the first floor seems too quiet, but the bottom floor seems a bit too chain salon like. Annmarie did my hair and I was freaking out when she told me to pick a color swatch of hair color I liked… ummm how old school?! She was very very very busy and I was getting a bit worried that she kept walking away and answering phone calls while processing my color. The whole experience took about 2 hours, but the cost was super low (compared to newbury st. Prices in Boston).
She was very much a talker and Having had a bad experience previously at another salon I was just so nervous I wasn’t going to get anything I was looking for.
Wellll…I was wrong!!! Yup, I can admit when I’m wrong, I was wrong. This hair cut was perfect! The color was perfect! The best part about my hair cut and color? It still looks like it did when I first got it done and the cut is so well done that its easy for me to style it quickly every day! I will definitely be going back for my touch ups, cuts, colors, and anything else I need!

I was so happy with my services today that I had to make a comment. The 5 star rating is for Kashmira, a licensed aesthetician that I have been going to for waxing appointments. Whether it is a bikini, underarm or eyebrow, she takes the utmost care when doing her work. She is thorough and detail oriented. To add to all of this, she has a wonderful and caring personality. I always feel like I’m visiting an old friend. I refuse to go to anyone else.
Today I had my first facial. I am getting over Bell’s Palsy and thought a face massage would help with the muscles in my face. I was very happy that I gave it a try because my face feels much looser and the numbness is not as bad. She also educated me on the redness on my face (rosia? spelling). The doctor just prescribed face creams. Kashmira told me to not eat spicy foods for 2 months and that I would see a difference. Spicy food is a big part of my meals but I will try it out for 2 months to see. I learned more at today’s facial appointment than I ever did with the dermatologist. I definately will be going to her more frequent now.
I also found the the reception desk to be very nice.
