Do you want to learn to sew? Does your child? Our sewing studio welcomes students five years old and up.

Adults often sew weekday mornings while kids rule the after school sewing crowd. Weekends are a mellow mix.

The sewing studio operates on a drop in schedule and students can come by anytime and stay for as long as they wish. Pricing is by the hour and begins when a student signs in.

The cost for two hours of sewing is $ 35 ranging to eight hours for $ 100. Camp programs, Girl Scouts, Charity Groups, and Parties have a separate pricing guide. All supplies included, but bring your own for a specific project.

Our sewing studio features a wide range of sewing equipment that is available for use by everyone. Machine embroidery is a favorite and we can show you how easy it is to digitize your own designs. Making clothes? Try out the digital pattern design software, patterns printed on our large format printer.

History

Established in 2012.

The sewing studio is a space full of creation and fun where the only limits are your imagination. The basics of sewing are easy to learn. Once mastered the possibilities for advancement are endless. Sewing is often broken down into design and construction. One may come naturally while the the other may be learned. We celebrate these approaches and recognize how to nourish each individual learning style. Sewing is no longer full of the rigid rules and regulations of the past. Self discovery is a cornerstone of our teaching method as mistakes and trials are seen as important learning blocks. It’s never too late to learn this satisfying and useful new skill. Business Owner

I became obsessed with sewing as an adult. Like many people out there I grew up with sewing in our house but never any desire to learn as a child. I was probably more interested in taking the machine apart which might explain Mom’s reluctance! What spurred my interest later in life was ill fitting clothing. Why shouldn’t my clothing fit! Never would I have guessed sewing would become such a huge part of my life.

One of the things I love about sewing is that there’s never an end to the learning. There are so many different aspects to fiber arts that this one hobby could literally last a lifetime! I’ve come to love computerized pattern drafting, machine embroidery, machine repair, and especially making my own clothing.

I’ve created NSS to be the sewing studio of my dreams. Each aspect has specific design and function in mind to spur the imagination of anyone who visits. The studio is a fun, safe and clean place where everyone is encouraged to develop and explore!
