Despite being busy on Memorial day weekend the staff was very courteous and the blizzards hit the spot!

Great location, next to the beach! We love coming here. It’s open all year round and late too! They have the drive thru plus sit down inside and full menu. Service is always good.

Bless their hearts. We must’ve come on a bad night(although idk what a «good» night for DQ is). The speaker outside barely worked, and we had to repeat our order at least 5 times. The girl working tried, but actually didn’t even remember our order once she finally heard it. There was 1 other car in front of us and we probably waited about 15 – 20 minutes for 2 blizzards. The taste was fine, but after looking inside it didn’t seem like the cleanest place to get ice cream. It took them way too long, and there was no sense of urgency. Guess you can’t have your ice cream cake and eat it too! That’s ok, better luck next time.

The service here is really bad compared to all other dairy queens. Additionally, we walked there with our dog and the cashier wanted to tell my dad that the little ice cream cups for dogs are a kids sized cup and cost .99 cents. On the contrary, all other dairy queens we have been to from Chesapeake to Virginia beach have never charged us and the ice cream for the dogs are smaller than a kids sized cup. The workers here definitely do not know what they are doing here and always have an attitude.

I’m an occasional soft serve ice cream guy from dairy queen. I thought I’d try something different. Went with their orig orange julius… REALLY??? That’s their signature drink? Tasted like a watered down creamsicle with very little flavor. To charge $ 4+ for a medium cup. INSANE!!! orange cool aid, add a touch of milk will give you a better taste of orange. That drink has turned me away from Dairy Queen for a long while.

Dairy Queen was always a childhood favorite of mine; unfortunately, over the years, it has become a dying breed in Norfolk. As a matter of fact, this one is the only one that hasn’t shut down. This location underwent major rennovations last year and until last week I haven’t seen what all was changed. I went here to just to stop in for a quick cone and was impressed by the newly decorated interior. They even have free wi-fi here now. They really pulled out all the stops to keep the last DQ in Norfolk going; this location looks something like an after school hangout now. The servers here were also very friendly. Overall, if you’re ever down in the ocean view area, I say stop on by and get a sweet frozen treat.

Almost 100° in the shade today, so needless to say directly after work I was lookin for an ice cream fix. Came here because it is close to my house. THEGOOD: I’ll give my initial service 4 out of 5 ‘s. Cashier was friendly and precise in his ability, but perhaps too rehearsed and robotic.. Very little warmth. My mint Oreo blizzard was ready promptly, though they weren’t busy. THEBAD: 3 out of 5’s for the fact that the girl handing me my blizzard never even said thank you. She just tipped my blizzard upside down(like they do to show you how thick it is, which is fine) and pushed the cup in the air towards my general direction while looking over her shoulder and talking at another employee. I said thank you. The mint syrup wasn’t fully blended leaving areas that we’re very syrupy and others that were, well, too vanilla. THEUGLY: –5’s(that’s negative folks) I should have just gone somewhere else. While waiting for my blizzard the tray in front of me holding the spoons, forks, cup tops etc was disgustingly filthy. It hasn’t been cleaned at all today, maybe even some time last week. Filthy pieces of breading, Pecan and candy chunks, smeared I don’t know what(Chili or ketchup maybe?), drops of other people’s ice cream, obvious dirty fingerprints of who knows how many customers.. All of it all over items I’m supposed to put in my mouth or to cover my drink or ice cream. Gross. Also, the first 2 tables I tried to sit at had a smeary glare to them and were all sticky like they have been using the same dirty rag all day.. Thought that stuff was supposed to be sanitized water. Crumbs at every table. Ultimately, I settled for a table with just sticky dried cup rings all over it that i had to brush crumbs off my own table and seat. Staff was swearing during a conversation by the front register. The manager or maybe shift leader or perhaps the only person that cared(he took my order) asked the offensive staff member to «watch the language out front please». He cleaned the tables too, only person that did from what I can see. HOORAH for you! Give that guy a raise, then clone him, and implant him at all your locations. SUMMARY: I AMNOTCOMINGBACK! … And no, I didn’t forget to take my caps lock off. That was intentional.

Just like any Dairy Queen. Still good ice cream to me. The bathrooms are dirty and trash can is over filled. No toilet paper. The tables smell like dirty bleach and mildew. Smells gross but it’s whatever. Employees look sloppy. Good customer service though and a good blizzard.

What to do on the first nice weekend after the attack of the Polar Vortex? Use the 70 degree weather as a reason to visit Dairy Queen! We took advantage of their $ 5 lunch specials and upgraded the sundae to a blizzard.(BTW — kudos to Joe D’s suggestion of a peanut butter chocolate blizzard!) The customer service was great & the place and associated facilities clean enough. It’s a chain, so you know what you’re in for, but my DH wants me to point out that it’s not a «brazzer» with hamburgers on the menu. We had chili cheese dogs which weren’t bad. I’m sure this place is hopping during beach season, as it conveniently close by. For a weekend respite from the cold, not a bad place to while away our(winter) weekend.

This review is based solely on the service my mother received outside of the restaurant. I guess this is actually a review of the staff’s behavior versus the actual food. My mother has been a customer of Dairy Queen for a very long time. However, she recently had the most disturbing experience at this location. She got out of her car and was walking to the sidewalk and slipped on a large patch of ice in the Dairy Queen parking lot. She tried to get up but kept slipping on that same patch of ice. My eleven-year-old sister ran into the store to get some help and the manager came out. He asked her if she needed help getting up. He was emotionless and did not apologize or seem the least bit concerned about her condition. After he helped her up, she told him that he needed to take care of this ice situation in the parking lot before someone else was hurt and he said absolutely nothing. He walked directly back into the store. Also, my mother was able to see through the side door, so when she was on the ground after falling, the young girl who was working there just looked at her and didn’t offer to come outside or anything. She had a grin on her face as if she was about to laugh or she thought it was amusing. When my mother got into the restaurant, her knee was hurting. She ordered, sat down and ate with my sister. Before she left, she asked the manager for a phone number that she could use to contact someone about this situation. The manager gave her a local number and she called, but it was incredibly difficult to get into contact with an actual person or representative on the weekend. She just didn’t like the way she was treated, and she does not appreciate the lack of concern that was shown by DQ employees, especially by the manager when she warned him about that ice patch. After she finally got into the restaurant and ate her food, she proceeded to leave. While another couple was told to «have a nice day,» my mother was not spoken to at all. She does not want to sue them because it is not that serious, but the fact is, that lack of concern and disrespect is not appreciated. No apologies or anything. It is ridiculous. I just spoke with a customer service representative who said she will forward my information to the franchise head and manager of customer relations. Aside from that, the food was great and she’ll be happy to return to a different location.

I’ve been going to this DQ since I was a youngster ;-). Since it’s a chain, you pretty much know what you’re getting and know what to expect. Customer service has always been great and when you’re craving a blizzard, it’s the ‘go to’ spot. Surprisingly, it’s the only DQ left in Norfolk, so it’s a bit out of the way for me, but worth it when you have the craving!

I love this spot. Went in for ice cream cake last Sunday and the cashier was kind enough to write on it. Not sure they like or excel doing that kind of thing but it was what we needed. The cake was delicious! Chocolate cheesecake and yummy! We will be back. :-)

Although the service tonight was um… interesting, it’s usually pretty good and fast. They are now offering the Blizzard in a waffle cone… which is what we all had tonight, it was a good idea, I just wish their waffle cones were better. Maybe I should stick to the dipped cones…

I don’t care how cold it is outside. There is nothing like a blizzard with chocolate ice cream and peanut butter cups in it!!!
