Normandy Park Community Club-The Cove

it’s a big open space, that does have a good view. from the outside, it’s not bad looking. on the inside, it’s a bit dated.
there’s a big gravel parking lot, but it expands away from the building. it can be a walk to get to the facility and some of the cars must park behind the others, sort of creating a bottleneck.
it was too cold to walk about the outside the facility, but it looked pretty well kept up. glad i did it in the day time or i might have made a few wrong turns finding the place.

What is a real bummer about this otherwise great location at the beach in Normandy Park are the soggy doggies running amuck. I LOVE dogs. But I also respect other patrons when I bring my puppy-​daughter along. I’d be utterly mortified if her wet, hairy body ran through someone’s photoshoot. On their blanket. And shook water onto their 9 month old daughter. That scenario occurred on three different occasions with 3 separate parties on Wednesday night.
As a photographer, I love shooting at this location for my clients outside of the Seattle City Limits because it is easy to access and the combination of driftwood/​water/​trees makes for some really great photos.
I and my clients, however, were pretty turned off by these owners’ blatant disregard for their off leash dogs causing havoc though. It was pretty heartbreaking to see my sweet clients clam up and become so stressed by this craziness midway through our shoot.
As we were leaving, one very kind owner asked if we were done before she unleashed her (very cute) chocolate lab. She shared her own wedding story from a year ago where off leash dogs ruined quite a few of her wedding photos. Super sad!

In the future I’d love to find that the pet owners want to foster an inviting environment for all to enjoy and take a little more responsibility for their pooches.

I’ve been planning my wedding over the past year and have had such a hard time getting adequate responses from the staff. I have to send an email 3 or 4 times to get multiple questions answered, and they only work a couple days a week so that adds to the difficulty. When answers are received they are very short and dismissive. I know they deal with event after event since it is such a beautiful venue, but it would be nice to deal with a professional and courteous person. It has made my planning experience a negative one in relation to the venue. I’m sure the wedding day will be beautiful though so it is a great venue aside from this issue.

Attended a wedding here. Nice grounds, huge deck, pathways, separate entry hall, large kitchen area. Parking seemed a little squeezed. Good kitchen.
