Friendly staff, very nice food, especially for breakfast. What I liked most was the attitude of the workers their, so polite and hard working. If you aren’t doing anything on any other day of the week, stop by and get delicious food that you payed for. It’s worth it

Athena is a standard diner — the food and the service is exactly what you would expect. You’ve got cracked vinyl on your chairs, dishes stained from thousands of washings, etc. Nothing special. HOWEVER — I’m done. We had a party of 6 meeting at Athena last Saturday. One member of our party went 45 minutes early to put down our name. They told her there were 2 parties in front of her and to sit at the counter. She got some coffee and waited… apparently they meant for ALLSIXOFUS to sit at the counter. The second girl showed up; they told the two of them that they weren’t going to be able to accommodate a party of 6. More than once they checked back in and were told to go elsewhere. When the other 4 of us showed up a few minutes before the agreed-upon time, all of a sudden the staff went into a tizzy trying to find someplace to seat us. We told them«No thanks» and went to Adelphia Café down the street, where we were seated immediately and had much better food and better service. I know where I’m going from now on. Thanks but no thanks, Athena.

Went here twice over the past two months for brunch. I was hoping the first time was a fluke. Alas, it was not. Now, Athena II isn’t horrible by any means. It’s just sort of… Meh. I don’t think they have any seasonings in their kitchen, as the food was bland to the point where it felt like I was eating tasteless matter. Even the corned beef hash was flavorless! As far as service, the waitstaff is generally pleasant, but seem to sort of rush you along. You won’t walk out upset, but you won’t be getting the best service you’ve ever had. All in all, the place leaves a lot to be desired. I haven’t gotten breakfast food in the morning there, so maybe it’s better then? Not very willing to chance it, though.

Late night diner food. I was staying in a nearby hotel on a mad search for food open late at night. I was so happy to find them open and the food was pretty good.

Nice regular diner. It’s clean parking lot is a good size. Menu has a lot of choices of course and the food is good. We come on the weekends for breakfast and it’s packed. Went today for lunch around 4:00 not to busy. Waitress we had we never had before. Mexican lady. Not attentive at all.

There are diners and then there are DINERS! This is just the former. Just a plain old diner. Nothing special. Came in for breakfast. Eggs, bacon & potatoes. They were fine. Potatoes a little bland, but it was a decent price, came out fairly quick. Coffee was fine. It was fine.

Good diner food, clean establishment and the waitress was super nice and attentive. Soups were tasty and French fries not greasy.

The diner was horrible. From the moment I sat down with my family, I had a strong feeling we were going to get bad service. I would have let if it was just me, but my nephews were with me and it would have been a hassle trying to find somewhere else. The waitress was in WAY too much of a hurry. She took one of our parties drink orders and just assumed it meant for all of us. He just wanted a water, so we all got water, no big deal. Ordered a philly cheek steak with french fries and a coke. We got our food fast, I will give you that, but there was little steak on the sandwich and no cheese. It was on a hard roll, for a 10.00 sandwich I thought that was pricey. I brought it to the waitress’s attention. When the waitress returned she brought back the same sandwich with cheese slightly melted in moments. The steak was rubbery, like it was microwaved. Don’t know if they did it both times but I was quite upset at this point. I would have rather went to Wendy’s down the street. I spoke to the person at the cashier, I told him I didn’t want anything, just that I was upset, never coming again, and the food was terrible. His response. Thank you. Kinda polite but really? No sorry or anything. Avoid place at all costs if you value customer service! Only thing is the kids’ enjoyed their egg sandwich and grilled cheese, they were okay.

It’s become my families new hangout place. It’s a diner so during the day it’s loud but the service is nice but sometimes they forget things, the food is good. When I want pancakes at 2am I have a place to go. Happy we found this place. They seat you and are extremely welcoming. Saturday mornings are perfect for good food and reading.

I’ve seen many restaurants where consistency is a big problem but I’ve never had that problem at the Athena diner. The service is great 90% of the time and the food is above average. This has been a town favorite for years. I recommend the eggplant parm

Typical diner menu selection but the food is good. I usually gotten breakfast here but their burgers are good too. Parking lot is big. No problems even when it’s busy. The prices were good here. They are open late hours too.

This diner is pretty terrible. I’ve tried to like it because it’s a convenient option if you’re drunk, starving with no food at home at 2am, etc. But nothing I’ve had here is even remotely good, it’s edible, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. One star for being 24 hr, another star because it’s good enough that if I was starving and had no choice, I’d eat here. There are far better diners in the area.

Is there any diner worthy of more than 3 stars? They have this incredible knack for all tasting the same. From chain restaurants you expect to be able to go anywhere in the country and they taste the same, but family owned diners? How they do it is beyond me. Anyways — this place is exactly what it is intended to be — an alternative to fast food. I worked a few buildings down from here and would stop I’m for lunch every other week or so, I stick to basics like grilled cheese or soup & they’ve been fine. I have to admit they were always quick, they knew I was on lunch & always made an attempt to get to me before the retirees so I could get back to the office on time. If you’re traveling through the area it’s okay stop to grab a quick bite and stretch your legs but by no means is this what last meals are made of.

Gregorios, the Greek owner, has reworked the old Friendly’s restaurant. Local and typical restaurant. Big menu — ambitious. Should succeed and you won’t be bummed or overly impressed.

Went for lunch and wanted some comfort food and the chicken pot pie was one of the specials. Service was great and very friendly given that it was quite busy inside. The chicken pot pie should have been thicker because this was just a few ladles of chicken soup broth. Very disappointing but good service.

Since I was a child I have been going here. This is always my famlies choice for quick, good food. Their menu is massive and last week when I went I noticed the prices have defintely gone up.(All of their wraps were $ 10.95!!) I thought that was a little steep. I love their desserts, and they have a wide selection of typical diner food. The place is very clean and the booths are nice and roomy. What I do not like is when I go there the waitstaff is always inconsistant. Either I have a great waiter/waitress or they are horrible and I want to hit them with my french fries. I usually ask for an older woman with blonde hair SHEISAMAZING. I think they need to re-vamp their waitstaff. Overall, love this place and yet another place where the green goddess dressing is AMAZING.

Sadly for me, this diner is sub-par. The food is either hit or miss, one thing can be REALLY good but then next can be meh. I also found that it can be a little pricey when it comes to some things. The place itself is nice and clean with a decent waitress staff.

This is your standard diner. We usually frequent this place for a late lunch or dinner. They have a very large menu, with very large portions. I wouldn’t expect gourmet dining here, but you will definitely get your money’s worth. The servers are friendly and polite. Overall it was a good diner experience. Major plus for being open 24 hours, it’s a great place to stop after clubbing in New Haven.

I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to breakfast, but this place was just awful. Stopped in late one morning, as it was the only thing open. Eggs were like cardboard, homefries had no seasoning, and the bacon was just off. The one star is for the service, which was good.
