Pretty good! Coconut chicken is more addictive that cocaine, and the fried plantains are pretty much the best thing ever.

I love their coconut chicken and all their sides are pretty tasty. There’s not many caribbean restaurants in the valley and this definitely cures my cravings for caribbean food. The workers are also very nice.

What an unexpected surprise! I loved this place. Between the 4 of us, we tried most of the better known dishes, and they were all wonderful. The mole is layered and interesting — all around delicious. the plaintains were a bit crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside: perfect! Don’t let the fact that this is in a strip mall scare you off — the food and service were excellent, and the prices extremely fair. I will go back.

I’ve been here twice already and I haven’t been pleased. The food wasn’t great and even though they seem drenched in sauce, it lacked flavor. The only food I liked from there was their plantains. Here are the pros: Pros: 1) great service 2) parking is plentiful 3) agua fresco is good(watermelon is bomb) That being said, food is what makes everything for me. I won’t be returning.

This place doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s Latin. It’s Carribean. It’s nothing special. I was excited and expected«authentic» jerk seasoning. The jerk was way too sweet and just off. My husband ordered the empanadas, the filling was seasonless and bland. Very disappointing. We won’t be back. Oh, the plantains were good.

Decent restaurant with a misleading name. I was expecting a Jamaican flare but it did not have traditional dishes like curry goat, brown stew etc. Its really a Latin restaurant with a few jerk dishes. We ordered the Cha Cha Chicken, coconut chicken and the chicken gumbo. Neither was really amazing and we felt it could use more seasoning. I probably won’t go back because I would prefer a real Jamaican restaurant.

I had the opportunity to try this place last night. It was a small hole in the wall restaurant in a small shopping center in North Hills right next to a McDonalds. I ordered the ¼ coconut fried chicken which came with 3 pieces of chicken. Since it was happy hour, I ordered a-la-carte the chicken enchilada, and a beef empanada. My coconut chicken came with my choice of 2 side orders. I chose the cuban fries and the plantains. Out of everything I ate last night, I loved the coconut chicken. The meat was so tender that it practically fell off the bone. The skin was very crispy, and the coconut batter was sweet and spicy. The service was great, and I will definitely be coming again.

Really enjoyed lunch today at this little hidden gem. Good carribean food. If you are looking to try something new and like good food with a lot of flavor, this is your spot. I had the salmon nigrel which had a jerk pineapple salsa on top and came with dirty rice, plantains and cabbage slaw. It was all delicious and the plantains were the best I’ve tasted and they are pretty good at Bossa Nova. The salmon was cooked perfectly and they gave me a really nice portion for lunch. My dining partner had the jerk chicken enchiladas which came with the same sides I had and they were really good as well. The watermelon water was fantastic. My friend also had a beer and I ordered empanadas for appetizers. They give you chips and salsa. All this for $ 40 and we were full. I would definitely go back. Service was also good and comfortable and private booths.

Love this place! We usually order the Cha Cha Chicken and the coconut chicken, as well as a side of sweet potatoes. Never fails to please. We haven’t eaten there( Unilocal makes it too easy to order ahead for pickup), but the staff is incredibly helpful and pleasant, so I’m sure we’d have a great experience if we ever get around to eating there.

This place is worthy of a 4.25. Good food, good service, clean, quaint… and we did the BYOB so it was even better!

A hidden gem in sfv! Good food and nice staff. Their coconut fried chicken was tasty and the corn muffins appetizing. Nice to find a unique restaurant on this side of town that is warm and welcoming to customers. I will definitely be back soon! Have to try the chicken mole…

I personally didn’t like the place. All the sauces tasted the same and every sauce was soooo sweet that I got a headache. However my friend loved it and wants to go back(not me) so the 3 star is my observation. He would have given a 5 star. But on another note he is not very experienced. Like never been to the caribbean etc… just a thought. Service was awesome. I just with not all the sauces were the same.

First off, let me be very clear, they only get 4 stars because they don’t have wine. Otherwise, WOW am I so glad my girl Elizabeth S. turned me on to this place! I’ve been sick for weeks, and ain’t nothing some spicy vinegary chicken and plantains can’t do for a girl with a sinus infection. The first time I had it it was takeout, and last night we went in, both times the food and service were excellent. The spinach quesadilla, cocounut chicken, jerk chicken mixed, and all the sides are fantastic. The prices are very reasonable, and they have some great vegetarian options. It appears as though they do Sunday brunch, and that could be really good! So excited to have found this gem, life in the valley is looking up!

Another tasty meal here. Come for coconut fried chicken and stay for… coconut fried chicken. Always friendly fast service and colorful décor though oddly empty whenever we go. No prob. Food is still a standout amidst nearby strip Malls and chains.

When we got there from the outside it was a hole in the wall look kinda restaurant but I was like I’m not going to judge. So when we got it in I liked the irie vibe most of all the back ground at the window. Which we choose to sit and the coconut fried chicken was amazing. Everything went all together with the sauce that we physically left nothing on the plate. I would definitely take my family here to eat.

Pretty disappointed with my first experience here. I had a sudden fried chicken craving but didn’t feel like getting KFC. I was a little surprised to see that there was no one else in the restaurant. I ended up grabbing the ¼ chicken(3 piece) with the dirty rice and corn on the cob. The dirty rice was fine, but nothing special. You get a pretty big corn on the cob but it wasn’t sweet at all. Even with the seasoning they put on the corn I thought it was pretty bland. As for the chicken I thought it was pretty dry. It’s supposed to be served with two dipping sauces but mine were not packed with my order. The batter was pretty good, there’s actually pieces of coconut in it. It was a little too sweet for my liking and needed more salt. I definitely want to give this place another try though. There’s also a lunch buffet for $ 10.

This is a great spot to get your jerk chicken craving satisfied. The cha cha chicken is delicious and will melt in your mouth. Their coconut fried chicken is also not a bad choice as you can devour the skin by itself with the flavor profiles their infuse inside of it. To wash down these delicious delights, you can get a ginger beer. Service was great as Nathan made sure our needs were met. Parking was a non issue as you parked in the mini mall lot.

I’m in love with this place! I love how the cultures combined and came up with these delicious flavors. I really wish there were a lot more places like this. Unfortunately I am not from this area so I can’t have it everyday. What I ordered was the jerk chicken enchiladas. My husband ordered the coconut chicken and we ordered empanadas on the side. Service was awesome. We can’t wait to come back on our next vacation for more !!

The short version: 3.5 stars. I would try them again but I was not blown away. Here is the run down: The actual food: Ordered TOGO online. Got there after 10minutes and I was asked to sit down and wait a bit longer. This was a good sign in my book because I wanted the food fresh and warm. I ordered the Coconut Fried Chicken(white meat) with corn on the cob and spicy Cuban Fries. They were out of corn, so I got plantains instead. I also ordered the Ropa Vieja. The chicken was great. It was fresh. The outside was crispy and the inside tender. I loved the plantains and the fries. But the Ropa vieja was not good at all. I was not impressed and didn’t eat much of it. The jerk sauce was not as spicy as I had hoped. I had ordered medium/hot but I guess they worried I wouldn’t be able to handle the real heat. Next time I will have to ask for the really spicy one. I had the pineapple soda and really liked it. Portions and Prices: The food listed above came out to around 30 dollars with tip and tax. I didn’t leave a lot of tip because I was taking the food to go. The portions are not small but not generous. I think it’s adequate. No complaints in this regard. But I think it’s a bit annoying that they charge 50cents for just a small amount of extra sauce. The service: The young man behind the counter was personable. He was not talkative but was friendly. Location and Parking: In a strip mall behind McDonalds. Not the nicest place but close to CSUN. Plenty of parking. Ambiance: It’s one of those places where you go up the counter, order, and sit down. It’s pretty casual but the walls have quirky paintings and decorations. It’s cute for a lunch with friends. The location is small but not claustrophobic small. They have tables and booths. Enjoy:)
