Gss Speaker Repair & Reconing Service

I had one of the best service experiences in my life here. The guy working here was so friendly and honest, and very reasonable. I brought my JBL Audio subwoofer here to be fixed. He did a series of tests on the sub and figured that it was the amplifier. Unfortunately he was not able to fix this particular problem. He did what he could to help me figure the problem out. He mentioned that wherever I do go to fix the sub, it would likely not be worth it. It was only an 8″ sub. Not much power from it.
I drove from Pasadena and didn’t want to leave without something, so I asked if he had a sub he could sell me. He brought one from the back and hooked it up and I could hear that it was so much better than my original. It is a 10″ Sony. He gave me a starting price, but I thought for a moment, but then he said that because I drove so far, he’d lower it even more. I was very satisfied with the price. I ended up paying mostly cash and a small portion on my credit card. Then when I was in my car, about to leave, he came out to my car and said his partner wanted to refund me the portion on my credit card! I was so surprised, no one has ever offered to give me a better deal without me asking. I couldn’t thank them enough.
The sub is hooked up and it’s awesome. So much power, great shape, no issues. I’ll definitely be going here for any of my speaker needs.

I have come here on 2 different occasions, 1 for a car PHD speaker (made in Italy) that blew and 1 for a tweeter (also a PHD) that burned out. Both times I wasn’t sure if these could be fixed as these speakers are extremely high end and rare. Amar and Singh assured me 90−95% chance these would be fixed. They weren’t playing around! I really appreciate their willingness to take the time to explain what is needed and their love for what they do is crystal clear. I will be a life long customer.

Sing is a master, I am so impressed with these guys! I dropped off a old record player/​AM. FM player form the 1950’s and Sing completely overhauled it and I am just blown away. Thank you GSS for delivering a amazing product!

I personally liked seeing all the speakers around and in a pile — it’s what a dinosaur bone pile would be to a scientist I guess. I love speakers! Not messy to me. It’s difficult to make these look pretty and organized when they are all different sizes and could be 2 lbs or 200 lbs. I had a great experience recently. Great prices (I called others to compare), didn’t take too long to fix my subs and they even waited for me when I was stuck in traffic past their business hours.

They were very honest and upfront about the possibility of repairing an older subwoofer because the parts would be difficult to find. They were however able to diagnose and repair the internal amp and did so in a timely manner. Great customer service and very friendly and respectful!

A hole-​in-​the-​wall, packed with speakers. They do great work and are very friendly. It has the vibe of a small family run business and they seem like very honest people. I will absolutely be bringing them more business.

Brought in my powered speaker hoping for a repair. I payed $ 35 for diagnosis. They said one week, I checked in one week later. They said one more week. 2 and a half weeks after bringing in my speaker I get a call back. Was told my speaker was done and they were unable to help me. Kind of bummed they weren’t able to help. 2 stars because they took over 2 weeks and because they never explained what they did during the diagnosis. I would have like to have known what was done that way I know what else to try. I’m an audiophile. Was a powered speaker 15 inch. Super loud 1600 watt. We will rebuild.

I’m really happy I found GSS. They fixed my secondhand center speaker quickly for about $ 80. Sounds great now. Definitely will go back for any speaker issues in the future.

My Paradigm center channel speaker had a blown tweeter. Paradigm did not have a replacement tweeter or even a replacement diaphragm. Singh has probably the only place left in Los Angeles that specializes in speaker repair. Two days later the speaker was repaired — he and his team rebuilt the diaphragm! And the cost was less than a used speaker I saw on ebay. Got a speaker problem? This is the place you need.

GSS was great! One of my cats killed the speaker in my Velodyne subwoofer, so I took it to GSS based on their Unilocal reviews. $ 100 and 1 week later my speaker was back good as new. The shop isn’t much to look at, very small and crammed with speakers, but that’s often a good sign for places like this. I noticed a fair number of pro-​level speakers amongst the stacks, which I found reassuring. Very friendly, competent service and fair prices. I highly recommend these guys.

I have an antique/​vintage Advent speaker from the 1970s that used to be my great-grandmother’s. The speaker is rare and irreplaceable! I discovered some distortion recently and decided I needed to have it checked out. I brought it to Gss and Singh assured me that they could fix the speaker. Singh carefully walked me through the steps to repair the speaker and put me at ease. I instantly knew I could trust him because he was very nice, professional and extremely knowledgeable about speakers. I now have the speaker back (after it was re-​coned by Gss) and it sounds better than ever — clear with zero distortion. Singh and his team did an incredibly careful, and professional job (no scratches/​nicks where the speaker was removed from the cabinet — no marks whatsoever) and kept the originality and value of the speaker. I am SO grateful and would absolutely recommend Gss!

I got my speakers reconed here a while ago, and they did a fantastic and affordable job, and today I got them re-​glued for $ 25!!! YEAH BABY!

These guys rock and are lifesavers!!! I had a jbl speaker with a burnt voicecoil and they made it sound better than a brand new speaker. To get a the same quality in a speaker now I would have to pay double for what I paid 10 years ago. Thank you guys!

Ok, I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. These guys provide a VERY specialized service. It’s the kind of service that you don’t really know exists until you need it. And these guys are the best. You will get your speakers back at LEAST as good as new. Mine came back better. My speakers when new were VERY expensive, and speakers of equal quality today would have cost a fortune. Nobody on Unilocal EVER says how much they actually paid for anything, which is frustrating as hell. Only that it was «reasonable.» What’s reasonable to you may not be reasonable to me, so I’ll just hit you with the numbers. These guys refoamed both 12″ woofers for $ 30 a piece. I paid them cash in advance, so I don’t know if that made a difference or not. I paid $ 60 and change to have my speakers turned from unusable to better than new. Sound reasonable to you? I’m going to bring them every speaker I own. Can’t thank you enough, gentlemen.

Amar and Singh are the real deal. I had a pair of blown woofers from a vintage Bowers & Wilkins tower speaker that needed re-​coning. I called literally every audio and speaker shop in the greater LA area, and none of them could handle the repair as it was a discontinued part. The guys here were not only able to restore the drivers to perfect working condition, but also did it for a reasonable price.
I also took in my vintage Bob Carver power amp in to replace the capacitors, and it came back sounding brand new with zero distortion — they were even able to find the original parts so as not to change the sound.
I doubt there is any other shop in LA that know what to do with old school audiophile equipment, these guys are completely comfortable in what they do and are also super friendly and will talk your ear off every time you come in if you give them a chance. Won’t go anywhere else for my audio needs.

Just paid full price and saw there is a huge scratch on the back panel. This is after I asked him to use new parts and be very careful when installing. I even went as far as wrapping my sub woofer in saran wrap to minimize the damage during the repair. This wasn’t a new subwoofer but it was in very good shape and had no scratches on it before. I am meticulous about my electronics and am disappointed with the quality. See attached photos, My words weren’t heard!

They are the best I’ve been going here for the last 5 years and they’ve been great. I threw almost anything at them to fix and they did for a reasonable price. It’s a small place but the service and work they do is well worth it. Go find out for yourself

I took my pair of Altec Lansing 604 B Speakers to GSS after reading their reviews on Unilocal,and was glad I did. They repaired my speakers to near original perfection and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the repair. These guys are, as one Unilocaler put it, «a hidden gem.» Thanks Singh for your help with my speakers.

I have a M&K 12″ woofer that the foam edge fell apart from age, I first looked online for a new speaker, no luck there as the woofer is 18 yrs old. But did find new foam kits for $ 20. Thought about repairing it myself for a minute while i looked on Unilocal for speaker repair. Gss had the right foam kit in stock, so I dropped the 12″ off that day and picked it up the next day good as new. Great shop, very knowledgeable.
Would definitely recommend them for foam replacement because thats what they did for me and did it well.
Rush service was a bit extra but a overnight repair was well worth it.
