Irena has been doing my hair for years and I have never gotten so many compliments on it before her! She is the best! A wizard with color and always give me the exact cut I wanted. I will never go to anyone else again!

I swear by The Local and Kayleigh. I have been going here for my hair needs for over a year now and I have never been disappointed. Kayleigh is seriously amazing! She is always able to decipher what will look good because I never know what I want. I really trust her with my hair which can be hard to find. She is killer with color and has recommended some great cuts!
The salon itself is gorgeous (super into the exposed brick). And all of the staff is super friendly. You feel more like you are hanging out with friends than being in a hair salon. Seriously one of the best places in the valley and I would recommend me to everyone!

I’ve had my hair done twice here. Once by Sandra D for a 1920s hair style which was amazing! I highly suggest her for vintage looks! The second time I had my hair cut and colored by Sarah. She did a great job at making my hair look brighter yet still natural. The Local feels like a high end salon without all the drama. Very fun décor and good prices. Thanks ladies for a superb job!

I’ve been debating to cut & color my hair for months, but I could never find the right place with someone I could trust. I finally came across The Local Salon on Unilocal and started looking at Kayleigh’s Instagram. I read some reviews about her work and I was sold! I immediately booked an appointment & I definitely don’t regret going here.
Kayleigh was so chill and she makes you feel at ease. She cares a lot about your hair & does her absolute best to make you look amazing. You can definitely trust her, the girl knows what she’s doing! YOU HAVE TO GO TO HER, SHE’S AWESOME!

Was traveling and my hair was a total wreck and I just couldn’t wait the 2 wks before I got home to my stylist. Enter the Local Salon with rave reviews and a very sweet receptionist who sold me on the place by being awesome. Then Sarah did a masterful job of taking my totally overgrown mop and turning it back into pretty. She was super friendly and totally got what i needed. Win/​Win!
Big ups to everyone at the Local for being so warm and friendly too. I was in yoga pants and grubby hoodie and was afraid of getting the snobby treatment but the opposite was true. Gratitude!

The Local Salon is super cute and everyone is really friendly. Besides my stylist, the best part about the salon is that there’s no snobby hollywood tude there.
My stylist is Irena, who is a superhero and her secret weapon is magic hands. Seriously, she effortlessly snips around my head with her scissors and razor and voila, within minutes, I feel amazing. I have thick and wavy hair and she knows just where to cut and how to texturize that doesn’t make my chubby face seem so. As my hair grows out week by week, the style just gets better and better. She’s fun to talk to and I’ve been a very happy client of hers for at least 6 years. Even just a quick trim does wonders. She’s also a fantastic colorist. I like my hair to be low maintenance and Irena has accommodated that with both my cut and color. No styling is needed except for rubbing some product in and the way she colors can be retouched if I want it or just left alone if I don’t want to color for awhile.

I’m so glad I found Alyssa and the Local Salon! I had been going to another stylist elsewhere for a Deva cut (for curly hair) but his prices kept going up and up and it was impossible to book an appointment or have his full attention once I was there. Still, I hesitated to try someone new because most stylists don’t understand my hair.
My curly haired friends raved about Alyssa so I took the plunge and tried her today for a cut and color. She did a fantastic job. I felt like she really heard me when I told her what I wanted in the cut and she knew exactly what to do when she picked up each strand of my curly hair. She did a great match with the color and I was really pleased with the final results. The whole experience was professional from beginning to end. The Local is an adorable salon and the front staff was friendly and helpful.
I am so glad I found a new salon and can’t wait to come back!

I had several inches of dark roots, due to work commitments, and since my usual stylist was out of town until January I looked on Unilocal for someone who was great with color. I’ve spent 20 years in LA and almost no one can figure out what I want, even though it’s fairly simple. Blonde can be tricky, so when I saw that Irena specialized in blonde I made an appt.
She was very nice, we had a good consult beforehand that was brief but thorough– so often it feels like stylists listen to the first two sentences then just skip over the rest, but I felt like she heard everything and understood, then asked me a few questions to fine-​tune what I meant.
For partial highlights plus a base, toner, haircut and blow-​dry I was out the door in slightly over 2 ½ hours. Nothing rushed, efficient and she tweaked the cut a little when dry. Price was reasonable, place was cheery and clean, someone was always sweeping up.
The color seemed a little subdued, but passed the bright light bathroom mirror test. Nice shade, blended like I’d asked, might ask for a little brighter next time around the face (my preference, no fault of hers, she did exactly what I’d asked) but very happy with it overall for my first appt with her.

It was my first time at the Local Salon. I went with Kayleigh because of the great reviews here. She is amazing. I have had this layered long hair for over 20 years now, so I have seen many different techniques when it comes to layering long hair. Kayleigh demonstrated this new technique that I’ve never seen before. The layers look so great. Although my hair is still long, but it looks so lively. My hair bounces when I walk!
She noticed my grey hair and recommend a much healthy hair color alternatives that I can get at a specialty store. She also offer a complementary trim when my hair grows out. How sweet is that! I highly recommend Kayleigh!

She also recommended a product for my hair to stay a bit more wavy and less frizzy. The product was fairly cheap for its size, about $ 25. I use it everyday and love it!

Got a purple ombré and blow dry from Allison. She did an amazing job!!! I definitely found my new hair stylist she listened to what I wanted out of the service and gave her professional input on it. The results… beautiful! Love my hair. I have been get compliments non stop. Thank you Allison :)

Sarah is an expert hair stylist and does awesome men’s haircuts. I have recently relocated from Chicago where I had the same hairstylist for roughly 7 years, so I was a little scared starting in a new city from scratch with a new stylist. No problem at all. I’m the type of person who likes to sit back and let the experts do the work and Sarah does just that. You can trust her to let her creativity do great work on its own but also if you have specific ideas about your hair she will execute a great cut to your liking. All the staff is really nice too. The salon is on a cool little stretch of Lankershim; in the event you get there early or things are running late, it’s no problem finding a coffee, a bite or a glass of wine while you wait.

I have a LOT of curly hair that is a combination of Solange Knowles and Tracy Ellis-​Ross type curls… I must have four different curl patterns and three different textures all trying to coexist harmoniously on my head. Some days it’s all love and happiness and some days it’s a total cage fight.
I got a recommendation from someone to go to The Local to see a stylist there that specializes in my type of hair because she’s a trained Deva stylist. I’ve had one Deva cut in my life (back in Boston) and it was the best cut I’ve ever had… the Deva cut I got at The Local… right up there with the WORST hack job I’ve ever received. ever.
I explained before the scissors ever came near my curls just what I wanted, just which curls curled up tighter than others, which parts tended to zig-​zag instead of curl, that I wanted the overall length to stay but needed some more layering in the back and that I wanted the hair around my face to be TRIMMED so that the long layers remained.
My hair stylist said (and this is a direct quote) that I had nothing to worry about because «this is my jam.» No. It’s not… my type of hair is clearly NOT your jam.
What I ended up with was something like a long afro on top of a mullet. In an attempt to «keep the overall length,» she trimmed the back of my hair and then layered the hair on top far too much… so from the back there was this row of hair about two inches longer than the rest.
The hair around my face has been cut so short that I essentially have a long afro. She cut my curls as if they all curled the same way, so now the curls that I pointed out curled up more than the rest CURL UP MORE THAN THE REST, which leaves me with sections of hair shorter than the rest… like the middle of the left side of my head… there’s just a chunk of hair that shrinks up shorter than everything around it.
I’m not naming the stylist because even though she really should never touch a head of hair like mine again, she is very sweet and nice. I believe she probably feels AWFUL for giving me a cut that left me in tears for days (and still enrages me every time I catch a glimpse of it in a mirror or window).
I received a full refund, which is good… but it will be at least six to eight months before my hair grows out enough for a qualified stylist to fix the hacked up layers.

The Local Salon is awesome! Everyone was very welcoming and fun throughout my entire experience.
I first went to Kayleigh because I saw her Instagram posts of fun colored hair and I hoped she could handle my pink loving ways. I was not disappointed! I’ve gone back 3 times now to have Kayleigh bleach my roots and re-​pink my hair! Each time she has a new & exciting idea for making the pink more dimensional or vivid. She really knows color and will explain to you exactly what she’s doing and the science behind the color process. She also does a great job with the cut and will give you her honest opinion on what will look best :-). Bottom line: Kayleigh is awesome and The Local Salon is a fun and trustworthy place to have all of your hair needs met!

Cici was GREAT! This was the first time I ever dyed my hair and I love the way it came out. Everyone at the salon is very friendly. One of the other stylist even offered to get me coffee from next door. Rad spot. Definitely recommend getting your hair done here.

I honestly can’t recommend this place enough.
I’m a huge hair snob when it comes to people touching my head, usually because I have very vague ideas (if I have any at all) about what I want and usually get stylists that blank out when I give them free reign (any time I’ve told them what I want, it’s a style/​color that I can apparently NOT pull off so it ends up looking awkward) and then I sit there unhappy with boring hair.
1000% not the case here!
I gave Kayleigh my pinterest which was essentially just a blob of colors and she came up with something I absolutely love. The salon itself is adorable and I would trust any of the stylists here with my head. They’re also great about keeping your business, and I will never let anyone else touch my head again.

My best friend and stylist moved and I have been long overdue for a salon visit. I decided to check this place out because it is in my neighborhood and read great reviews about KAYLEIGH. She was sweet and welcoming off the bat. I went in for a cut and color and words cannot express how much I love it! The outcome of my hair was how I envisioned and more. She takes her time, is very meticulous and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist like I have been. I will definitely be a returning client. My new hair is worth every penny that I paid :]

Allison (Alley) is an amazing stylist! I have been going to her for years and love my hair cut every time. So naturally, she was the best choice for my wedding hair. I am so so pleased with how it came out and have received so many compliments on how beautiful it looked. People still point out my hair in pictures from that day. I love Alleys work, work ethic, and personality as she is always great to chat with while getting my hair worked on. I have also seen the great color job and cut she has done for another friend and she is definitely the best.
Not only is Allison amazing with hair, she is also great at makeup too. I also had her do my makeup for the wedding and I loved it so much, I wish I could have my makeup done like that everyday. Her attention to deal and blending were amazing.
