Breaking Point Shell

Yesterday while driving to work I heard a noise in my engine that scared me. I
the breaking point shell repair center in Northfield and spoke with the owner Dan. I left the car with him to check it out, and for my convenience and to my surprise he offered me a loaner wrangler jeep to drive so I could get to my job. Now that’s service! He called me shortly and told me what the problem was and quoted me a price. He said it would be done by 6 PM that same day and I could pick it up anytime since they’re open 24 hours. I picked it up after work and was taken for a test drive with the head mechanic Ivan, it sounds great! Purrs like a kitten !! Thanks to Danny and Ivan, I’ll see you again.

I do not recommend going to these guys! There labor costs are high ($ 105 per hour) and they’re customer service is terrible!
I sent my car in via tow truck to get an estimate.
Since I sent my car to get a quote, after getting the price quote and recommendation, I suggested that I wanted a second opinion.
Oh my gosh! The mechanic got very offended that he accused me of starting a pricing war. When I explained to him that I am not an expert on cars and since we had just fixed the brakes, rotor and caliber a year before, I wanted a second opinion. He told me «he’s running a business, and that he’s had the car on the lift all day…» which I didn’t ask him to do. If a business believes in their price quote and recommendation to be best around, then why be so sensitive about getting a second opinion!
Anyways, the owner charged me $ 90 for an estimate and didn’t want to give me the estimate in writing! I had to get a second opinion based off my recollection! I checked the state attorney laws and that is illegal!
Learn from my mistake and don’t send your car to these guys!

Among other skills, these fellas are classic car experts. They just did an awesome job on my GTO. Engine tune, brake booster, steering box, battery, and new rims and tires. Superb quality job, fast service and unbelievably friendly. They also detailed the engine bay and undercarriage, which now looks brand new. From now on, all our vehicles will come to Danny, Ivan and the rest of the pros at Breaking Point Shell!

I have been using this service station now for 2 years… EVERY time the service is awesome! I leave my car and it is done right away and done well. I recently had new tires put on from here and I dropped the car off at 7:30, there was no loaner so the owners son gave me his car (seriously unreal service), and my car had new tires and was aligned by 9:00! I can’t say enough about the service provided here! So lucky to have them so close by! Thanks Denny and Mike!!!

these guys are an awful bunch. my brother drove my older van… 2001 caravan into shop for muffler. they quoted 600.00 said it had to be factory muffler. omg.really. try universal 89.99 part. crooks.
tonite 1130pm i notice car air was low when i came in from dog walk. ran car over, i asked clerk if there was air at shop for tire he was playing game or texting on fone and ignored no eye contact or response. i asked 3 times with a smile in my voice.
women and teenagers stay away.
not good enough.
btw… i was going to ask them to quote brakes.
people have choices, i opt out.

Horrible experience with Breaking Point in Northfield.
Had a flat tire. They replaced my Pirelli tire with a tire they had in hand. No discussion, just did it.
Immediately upon picking up my car and paying $ 202, I asked to have the owner call me. Never happened. Had to keep calling and stopping by. When we finally met he said that they had put on a «race car tire» instead of Pirelli– like that one odd tire was going to help the performance. PLEASE, don’t insult my intelligence. Now I have 3 Pirelli tires and this odd tire. Owner said they would take the tire back and put on my donut, but charge me $ 90. This just adds insult to injury. PS. they even charged me $ 6.50 for the tire disposal and state fee, when I had the damaged tire in my trunk.

Great car repair service! Ivan is the mechanic we trust. He tells it like it is, and only repairs what is needed. Ivan isn’t trying to upsell something that is not needed. He gets the job done quickly without drama.
The gas station is open ²⁴⁄₇ which makes pickup and drop off easy.
