Great service and the owner personally answering questions and explains what happened and how to avoid in the future. My car was in bad shape, needed an oil change, new filter, wheel alignment, tire rotation, various noises coming from under the hood and a leak! The A/​C also wasn’t working. Ben diagnosed all the issues, gave me a great price and my vehicle is as good as new. I recommend this place to anyone wanted to spruce up their vehicle.

I brought in my car and my daughter’s van, the Monday before Thanksgiving. The repair diagnosis was quick and accurate. They gave me a cost estimate immediately. Both cars were fixed and finished by Tuesday afternoon. They fixed some things that I didn’t even know were broken, dome light and turn signal light. Ben gave me some maintenance tips when he noticed some corrosion on the battery terminals. AND they provided a free loaner car.

Years ago this shop had a man at the front desk that was about as cool and nice as they come. He was smart, straight to the point and always helpful. I never really had to deal with any of the mechanics directly. A few years ago I was looking to buy a used car and would bring it over to them as they would connect to a computer and check the car’s health. It was a deal at $ 60.00 to give you a piece of mind on buying a used car. There was no one at the front desk so I had to deal with the owner, and let me tell you It was a VERY unpleasant experience — he was the RUDEST of RUDE from the jump. He was insulting, did I say RUDE, and somehow the cost to diagnose is now $ 150.00 which is an insane jump in cost in less than 2 years. I have referred MANY a customers to them over the years, and as of last year have heard nothing but horrible feedback on all fronts from this shop to the people I have referred to them. Their cost have become ridiculous! (maybe since they are so rude they have lost a lot of business and needed to raise the price)
Car repair is hard enough pill to swallow and it’s hard to trust unless you are a mechanic and in that case you would not need to go to one. A place like this just keeps the stereotype that mechanics are not to be trusted and are nothing but conartits! I could not believe how I was treated, and the fact that I decided to try them again after all the bad feedback it was pretty silly on my part to even step foot in there, but they are conveniently located so I figured I would stop in and see for myself as my check engine light went on. NEVER AGAIN! Not even a dealer changed that much to do a diagnostic check. Thankfully there are others to choose from within a stones throw!

Great service, quality experience. My 15 year old car lost its drive shaft in front of Bens shop. He put it up on a lift and showed me my problems (rust, rust, rust). Bens shop fixed my problems with a used part (half the cost), they informed me that my front brake pads were almost gone (which we acknowledged since they were last replaced 40,000 miles ago) and returned my car one day sooner than expected at a cost less than the estimate. We feel very fortunate to have discovered this shop and will return.

I just had both of my older Lexus RX 330’s in for 5000 mile oil changes. I used to go to Jiffy Lube. I like this shop better because the mechanics do a thorough inspection and keep me informed about condition of brakes, tires, battery, suspension, radiator, belts, etc. no pressure to do the work. very clean waiting area & a Starbucks is just a few doors down.

I have been taking my vehicles to Ben for years. He and his staff always take the time to explain what needs to be done. They tell you if a repair is urgent or is something that can wait a while. They also let you know about potential upcoming service needs so you can plan ahead.
The service level is top notch. I had a minivan that made a noise only when the engine was cold. When I would take it in to be serviced, the noise would stop. Ben came to my house so he could drive the car with a cold engine. He researched the problem and repaired it for me at a reasonable cost.
This is the only auto repair shop I trust!

Ben and his team are the best of the best in the Chicagoland area. We have been getting serivice from Hong Kong Auto Service for the past 16 years. Expect to have your car serviced fast and at the highest quality. There are no hidden fees. We have been able to keep our vehicals much longer than average and I owe it all to Ben and team due to their high attention to detail and knowledge. I don’t know what the previous reviewers issue is but Ben is quick to point me in the right direction to other servicers or the dealer if he can not give me service at the right price point or if he cannot provide the serivce himself. Loyalty and service above and beyond expectations are what you will get from this auto serivce. Expect to be treated well and with care. Ben has worked on our cars, vans and trucks for years, since he was up at Shermer and Wilow. He always beats the dealer prices when working on our most expensive and new vehicles, and he has kept our high mileage 2^nd and 3^rd cars going for 100’s of thousands of miles. As a matter of fact we have kept them years longer because of Ben’s modest prices to fix them up. Like the other reviewer, I also have a «check engine light» on my SUV that Ben and I have been monitoring for 6 years. He respects that I don’t want to fix that at a high price and I like that. I trust Ben and his crew. I find his prices to be the same or lower than any other places I have checked. And I have checked, and used coupons, etc. Ask Ben to match a coupon price and he will do what he can. The service at Hong Kong auto is relatively quick, from what I can see. I have also checked lots of parts prices against dealer quotes, and my finding is that Ben does not overcharge for dealer required parts, and most importantly, he will actually get parts prices from 2 – 3 places when aftermarket parts will work. 12 years, my 8 vehicles, most still running somewhere… I credit Ben for his good work. And can I say again, flexible and open to options when a repair is difficult to decide upon.

A gem! Honest, competent and friendly. I have taken my cars to Hong Kong for over a decade and they’ve always done a superb job. Highly recommended.

On vacation my check engine light came on due to an exhaust issue. The small town mechanic told me it was fine to drive and the repair should be about $ 200. I went here on recommendation of a friend after being told by Duxler that the $ 200 repair is physically impossible and I really needed to do a $ 1800 repair. Hong Kong put the car on the rack and showed me what needed to be done. I asked if I really needed more work and the response was «why fix something that is working perfectly?!»

So I go in for a routine oil change and I decided to wait while they did the service. About an hour later I see my car up on the lift and all the wheels taken off and they tell me I need new brakes and I need to flush all the fluids (brakes, steering, etc). Now, I know that the brakes are old, and I agree to that service. The fluids, I did not know a great deal about, but they made a compelling argument that in the lifetime of the car (it’s a 2006) the fluids have never been replaced and it is about time to do so. Reluctantly, I agree.
Then next day, when I receive my vehicle back, the steering is incredibly tight and next to impossible to turn the car, park it, or even drive it safely. I brought it back and they took a look at it, and returned it to me. It was about 70% improved, but it was still quite difficult to park, and since they (almost) fixed it, I figured that they could just finish the job this time. Now, to my surprise, they tell me that the fluid pump is broken and I need to pay $ 600 to repair it. Granted, when I went in initially, there was NOTHING WRONG with the steering. When I get the car back, the steering is broken. They want $ 600 for it. I have no recourse, they claim «it was going to break eventually» I don’t know what kind of service that is, but I assure you that they will be seeing me in small claims court because this is ridiculous. I do not understand how going in for a routine oil change can set me back all this money.
These people are LIARS, CRIMINALS, and CHEATS.
If you value your time, money, and automobile, save yourself the headache and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
