Beware of renting from this company! Emerald Management has become a greedy slumlord. Though their employees are very decent people, the organization itself is as bloodsucking as any corporation. They commandeered my deposit, though I spent hundreds of dollars on cleaning and improving my unit and found a reputable replacement when I had to relinquish the space, (due, in part to astronomical rent). Yes, rent is high in Boulder. Yes, I signed a paper agreeing, (out of ignorance), to surrender my deposit if I were to leave — I’m not saying they’re thieves. I’m saying they’re leech-​profiteers and have no investment in honorable or fair transaction or supporting the community they pull nourishment from
Upon moving into said unit, I was quoted a rental rate. Days later, after I had decided I could make the upgrade, they called and said they had to increase the rent by almost $ 300 because the previous tenants (on their own dime) had built out a beautiful loft. This happens fairly frequently and emerald capitalizes on it by measuring the square footage of the loft space and adding in to the rent. Just be aware of what you are getting into. I paid for my lack of cutthroat business savvy. This company is not here for the good of the community, it is here for profit. Obvious, perhaps, in an age of greed and consumption, but I wish to support something different for my generation.
