Small, friendly restaurant with indoor porch seating. No reservations, but we had no trouble considering it’s a Tuesday in December. Plenty of weekly specials in the winter season. Tonight was buy one get one free entrees! One of our go to island restaurants.

We ordered the huevos rancheros to go. I had high expectations based on the reviews of this restaurant but we must’ve ordered the wrong dish. It was probably the worst huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. It was soggy and missing flavor, it was extremely bland. The food quality seems good, so I didn’t want to knock them for that. The staff was friendly although it took about 10 minutes and the hostess walking by numerous times before I finally was able to get her attention.

The best lunch spot on MVY. Everything from the fried green tomato BLT to the pizzas to the burger are outstanding. And the staff are delightful.

The service is excellent & super helpful. They have great breakfast food. I recommend the Gruyère bagel or pancakes.

I am continuessly impressed by the food here. This place has a wonderful, comfortable, friendly atmosphere. It is a hidden gem in a town of quick tourist food. The menu is interesting and delicious, try the fried green tomato blt, it’s incredible! This is easily my favorite restaurant in Oak Bluffs, a feeling that is only enhanced by the fact that they are open year round for us islanders. Stop in, you will love it.

First time here today and it was great! My boyfriend and I split the hummus wrap with a side of truffle fries, absolutely perfect for two people! The atmosphere was cozy and the waitress was super accommodating! Can’t wait to visit the Vineyard again so we can come back!

Came here for brunch. The seating area was very cramp. There was no place to put our bags which was inconvenient. I felt like everyone walking by was leaning over me, making it extremely uncomfortable. Came here with 3 of my girlfriends and there was about a 20 minute wait on a Saturday which isn’t bad. The waitress took our drink orders, 2 of the 4 drink orders were made wrong. So far, this place didn’t look too promising, especially for the number of good reviews it received. The food definitely made up for it. Everything was absolutely delicious. Although it was on the expensive side, which is understandable for being in a touristy area and everything has to be imported since it is an island. If I had the choice, I would have picked a different restaurant.

Excellent food. Only lost a star for serious lack of air conditioning on somewhat warm day. Lobster was spicy and fresh, salmon sandwich excellent, sweet potato fries insanely good.

Had the fried green tomato BLT and truffle fries. SOLID food. Fried green tomato was excellent on its own, the bacon in the sandwich was delicious applewood smoked, the bread was hearty, fresh, and delicious. The truffle fries were good and the basket portion was GIGANTIC, even shared amongst three people. Loved the happy, friendly service too!

Cute and busy little lunch spot. When I say little, I mean a dozen or so parties are able to dine here. The food was okay. My boyfriend had the salmon burger which he said was absolutely amazing. The sandwiches came with a small side of cole slaw. A few pros: very intimate place, good service and the food is reasonably priced. A few cons: it can be a little stuffy with the small ceilings and the place gets hot quickly with a full house. Also, I thought the cole slaw was a little dry, and my chicken pesto panini was lacking in the pesto department. Still not a bad meal for the price and we are both definitely full until dinner. This place came highly recommended but it’s really not my style. Giving it the extra star because my boyfriend never compliments food the way he did his salmon burger! I think there are better places in the area to check out.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! I’m honestly at a loss for words to accurately describe the crab cake bagel. I couldn’t even put into words how much I enjoyed it when the waitress came by — I could only do a happy dance in my chair as I continued to devour the meal. All I can say is the crab cake was cooked to perfection and the homemade basil mayo was the cherry on top of a stellar breakfast sandwich. I can’t say enough about the freshness of the ingredients & the dining experience. I will definitely be back!

Really great service and the lunch special in the winter for $ 10 is such a good value and I love that they offer new specials daily. Throughout the year, the service is great, even when all the tourists are in town in the summer, when some restaurants are so overwhelmed the food quality and device suffers. The brunch is really great on Sunday. I wish they offered it daily, but it is really a nice brunch menu and consistently, fresh and really good.

Phone died. Looking for a lunch spot. Trying to avoid tourist traps. My husband and I challenged ourselves to find a lunch spot using only our intuition. Mission complete! Waited 20 minutes for a table in this small joint which was packed. It cleared out rather quickly, and we saddled up for what would become my favorite meal in recent memory. Husband had the strawberry/bacon flatbread drizzled with balsamic. We shared the truffle fries, and I had the burget with gorgonzola and a portabella mushroom. I savored every bite of that meal and don’t regret one second of the calories I took in. We walked 15 miles that day. We deserved it.

Oak Bluffs is a bit of an enigma to me. The draws are apparent: those gingerbread homes around the tabernacle, the gorgeous landscaping and cresting scenery from Ocean Park, dem Flying Horses. But the rest of the city’s downtown stretch of Circuit Ave and blocks nearby hold a crapshoot of touristy pits and polished gems that are oh-so-difficult to differentiate. Do not pass by Slice of Life for flashier dining rooms, or more vibey offerings. Heads-down on pizza, pasta and sandwiches, a few other fuller entrees are peppered in to the menu; however, skipping the bread on which their sandwiches are served would be a mortal sin. My fried green tomato BLT($ 10.75) gave those sweet little bulbs of seasonal sunshine a salty crunch, with quality bacon and a nicely herbed basil mayo. Not aioli, just mayo. They ain’t skurred. The aforementioned rosemary bread is fantastic, however, the side of cole slaw is a bit watery and underwhelming, which is why you should opt for your new favorite food: their sweet potato fries. How the heck a pizza place serves some of the greatest(and worst for you) sticks of sweet spud I’ve personally stolen from across the table is beyond me. I’m not complaining, and will gladly supplement any meal with these incredible standouts anytime, even at $ 5.25 for a side. Sodas are bottled Coke products(no refills, Parched Patty); they’re serving wine and beer. Grab a window seat on the air-conditioned patio, but be forewarned: the ventilation ain’t great, so it may get a bit smokey.

Delicious crab cake bagel with the fried egg. Got this and boarded the ferry. The crab cake was perfectly done and the eggs was a bit runny, just the way I like it. Kind of tough to eat it with the bagel and wind blowing in your face, but the taste was soooo worth it. Buuuut restaurant is very strict with their rules — no breakfast take out orders even if it’s 11:23am. No sitting of customers after 11:15am. Can’t even let you sit or wait in the restaurant’s waiting area for half an hr until lunch starts a 12pm. Take out is very very excruciatingly slow.

We tried slice of life after reading the good reviews on Unilocal(and it was right across the street from where we stayed in Oak Bluffs). Very cute place, great service. We tried the Morning BLT, the East Chop Scramble and a breakfast burrito — excellent and plentiful! This was actually the only full breakfast we had while on the island so I don’t have anything to compare it to but we would return to Slice of Life again for sure.

Fried Green Tomato BLT is my wife’s favorite sandwich on Earth. I opt for anything on the menu and am never disappointed. I typically go for a late breakfast/early lunch, but have gone for dinner. Pizza’s are solid, sandwiches are solid, but breakfast is the best! the scrambles are awesome as are the scallion-garlic potato pancake that come with nearly every breakfast. the burrito is great as well.

After my friend kept talking about Slice of Life and the awesome reviews online(and after my husband went there and said it was great), I had to go. So, we went for Sunday brunch before leaving the Vineyard. We got there on the earlier side, so we were seated after about 30 seconds on the covered patio(sunroom?). The waitress brought us water really fast and then left us alone to peruse the menu. I could NOT decide as everything looked good. Ultimately, I settled on the East Chop Scramble(farm fresh eggs scrambled with broccoli, roasted red peppers, arugula and goat cheese served with a scallion-garlic potato pancake and toast) and I added caramelized onions. It was VERY filling, but unfortunately, no tastes really stood out, and I don’t think the goat cheese even made it in… My husband went with the Camp Grounds Scramble(farm fresh eggs scrambled with Black Forest ham, caramelized onions and Swiss served with a scallion-garlic potato pancake and toast), which was very tasty. Overall, very good, but I have a feeling they are better for lunch or dinner…

TRUFFLEFRIES! I wanted the basket. but the side order is more than enough for 2 people. We probably only finished about ½ of it. My friend and I also shared the Asian Salmon Salad — mixed greens, pan seared salmon, green beans, scallions, potato crisps, shiitake mushrooms and ginger soy vinaigrette. We weren’t that hungry. but the salad was also MASSIVE. We were perfectly satisfied with our 2 choices. The table next to us actually recommended the Asian Salmon Salad. It was a great choice! It was so different from any salad I have ever had before. I loved every single ingredient in it!
