Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites

Bad Customer Services… Not recommend for Business use.

The customer service is not nice and treat the returning customer as the fraud maker. It is not convenience to book and so many restriction and request. Not recommend.

This is a busy weekend and the hotel has had no problem filling up. The first day we went up to Yosemite and came back at 9 pm to find our bed totally torn apart and no clean linens. The desk was very nice and one of the front desk people came up and made the room but we had to wait around for a half hour. This afternoon we told them that we would need to check out one day early as our daughter was not feeling well and the altitude was exacerbating the problem. (bad morning sickness). As we had reserved the room through Expedia, we were told we had to cancel the last day through them. A call to Expedia resulted in Expedia calling the hotel whose owner told them that there was a 48 hour cancellation policy. No cancellation allowed. We travel a lot, and I mean a lot and we’ve always found that the hotels want to please the customers, not the case here. There are many choices of hotels in Oakhurst find another one.

Some family friends and took a trip to Yosemite, and we decided to stay in this hotel. We rented two rooms: one for 3 people (2 beds) and another room (1 bed). Dogs are not allowed in this hotel, meaning one of our friends had to stay at an inn with the dog we had, which disappointing me because I believe any pet should be welcome at an hotel. The beds were comfy, and thankfully there were no bug-​beds lurking in the mattress! We had the continental breakfast once in our 3 day trip, and honestly, it was nothing special; just your regular muffins, waffles, etc. Also, the bathroom lights were on the other side of the wall, making it a bit confusing to turn on the bathroom light. My friend and I friend got some silly bear shaped mood rings, which was pretty nice: p. Overall, the stay was nice, and I will be willing to go here again.

Very nice, staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious, complete, comfortable. Free continental breakfast and very affordable. I would book again next time!

So, I made reservations 4 hours ahead of time over the phone while driving in from Santa Cruz, CA. While on the phone the staff was courteous and helpful. I asked about the pool, wi-​fi, distances around the area to the Park, and other things of that nature. Very nice and fast to respond. Great, i thought while on the phone. They explained to me right away that i was with in the 48hr cancellation period and there would be NO REFUND. Ok, I can understand that. This was made very clear.
Apon arrival the hotel is nice. Has the pool, spa, sauna, weight room, etc…
Nice lady checked us in (Long salt n pepper hair).
We get the room keys (cool electronic sensors for easy access (great so far)!
We enter the room and is super clean, spacious, with a couch and king size bed (wow)!
I go to connect to wi-​fi and it has poor out put power from the source (I learned the router is on the 1^st floor).
Ok, so I call and inquire about this problem (I really need the wi-​fi as I have to deal with business issues back home). The lady who answers the phone (Janet, at the front desk, NOT the nice long haired lady I checked-​in with) explains that the router is on the 1^st floor. She tells me since my room is on the 4^th floor and at the outter edge of the floor i wouldn’t get good wi-​fi. Then she comments to me «IT’S IN THE DISCLAIMER „.
Whoa, when I called earlier this afternoon I asked of all these things and was told sure it has everything i asked about. And they made sure to disclaim NO REFUND as I was inside the 48hr cancellation period as i said before. Nothing was said about wi-​fi having an issue on anywhere but the first floor. Trust me, I would have asked for something different. Ok, I am a little unhappy over this.
I ask if I may be moved to a closer room and she is helpful in accommodating me. „Come down n give me your set of room keys for another room“, she says. Great im thinking.
I go to see her and as she is taking care of me she tells me she will give me a room closer to the elevator on the 3^rd floor (more central location) but that may not help.
So I replied to her with a question. Is it the outter location of the upper floors as she stated or is it just anywhere but the first floor? She waves her hands in the air and rudely tells me,“ We are in the mountains here» with great attitude. I about flipped my lid!!! (I’m thinking, I just drove here, i know exactly where I am?
She saw I was upset and could escalate quickly and she eased up right away. She gave me my new keys and I was outta there.
I still can’t get the wi-​fi to work well and am constantly waiting for signal. Along with the attitude I received from Janet at the front desk this has already turned me off to this place.
There are many places to stay all over town. Look elsewhere if you need wi-​fi. As far as Janet she needs some re-​training on customer service skills.

This place is motel quality, just four stories. The location is fine, right in town. The rooms are functional, but nothing special. The continental breakfast is at the lower end of what you might hope for, but not bad. What is horrible about this place is they claim to provide internet access throughout the hotel. They do not! It is completely unusable. If you don’t have a hotspot data plan with your carrier, plan to be without internet access during your stay here. They blame it on their internet provider… um, how about switching to one with better service? Oh right, that might be more expensive. Avoid this place. Choose one of the better-​reviewed places here on Unilocal and you’ll be fine.

The staff at the hotel went out of their way to accommodate me at the last minute. There were no other rooms available in the area and they were able to provide one to me at a discounted rate. Considering I had not planned to stay in the area, they helped me out immensely. Brandon also went above and beyond to get me and my girls a room for the next night because they were possibly going to be fully booked. He called other local hotels and gave me good insight on where to stay. Turns out they only had one room left, again, and saved it for me. When I returned from the park later that evening, my luggage was waiting for me in my room. These guys are excellent in customer service!

We were last minute overnight guests as we traveled through the area. The staff was helpful and courteous.
Our room, a King Suite, was dated, yet boasted a large flat screen tv. The bedding was clean and the carpets were vacuumed. The shower soap holder was not cleaned well and had a small amount of soap caked in it. The shower head was hand held, therefore it was impossible to stand beneath the shower spray. The pin which the shower head hooked on to was rusted.
The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not.
After reviewing the breakfast selections — We chose not to eat breakfast — continental — cold cereal, yogurt, juices & muffins that looked like they were purchased from Costco. I did see someone with a waffle.
If you are in a pinch, please know what you are getting for your $. We paid $ 145 + tax. We would choose another hotel if in the area again.

Those beds were incredibly comfy. We were staying in various hotels around the time of our stay here. A different hotel every night because we were on the move with our little vacation, but this place wins for most comfy & clean beds!
We stayed in a first floor room with two queen sized beds. It was a large room that offered a nice sized flatscreen TV, seating area, desk, vanity with a sink, another counter with a sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, and a bathroom.
Great choice for a stay at the Southgate entrance to Yosemite.

Reasonably priced, very nice hotel in a great location, situated just a couple miles from the entrance to Yosemite Park. Hotel is quiet, with large rooms, and 24 hour Denny’s is right on the property! I booked it at the last minute and Amber was extremely helpful. I also forgot my phone charger when I left, and the hotel graciously mailed it back to me. I would stay here again on my next visit to Yosemite, avoiding the overly expensive, crowded hotels inside the park.

My family enjoyed our stay. The rooms were huge and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was good enough to fill you before a day at the park but nothing fancy. The kids enjoyed the pool. Short drive to the park at 16 miles. Remodel should have been done prior to season beginning but it didn’t affect on the other side.

We had wonderful service and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends.

My visit was a positive one. The front desk staff was polite and informative. The rooms were fresh and clean and even had a great view from the window. The elevator is a little slow but who’s in a hurry on vacation? The location is perfect for visits to Yosemite and the giant redwoods. They really helped to make my vacation wonderful. The staff checked on me and made sure I had everything needed every time I walked through the lobby. There was plenty of parking and the wifi was flawless. I definitely recommend staying there.

I loved the hotel. It’s better than it looks in the pictures. The service is really nice. The rooms are big and quiet. They have a good breakfast bar. Very convenient and close to Yosemite!

Horrible place. Give our room away and claimed it was because our card was declined. We used our card all day for purchases. All rooms booked everywhere. That nite :(

BEWARE!!!’ I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel! We complained about the room above making so much noise in the weee hrs of the morning. They kept us up and we didnt get any sleep. I talked to a man over the phone to let him know about the situation. The noise continued… i Went downstairs to complain again. The man said there was nothing he could do about it. A lady showed up to relieve him of his duties for the night. I told her what was going on about the noise. She also said to me in a hostle way there was nothing she could do about it. she actually raised her voice to me, in front of another customer behind me. She offered a 5.00 credit… wow! For ruining our day of sightseeing with no sleep… geee thanks. Seems to me they are only there for a pay check and really dont care about their customers!!! I definitley DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY HERE!!!

Ein preisgünstiges Hotel auf dem Weg vom Yosemite Nationalpark nach San Francisco. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hat alle unsere Fragen gerne beantwortet. Die Abzüge gibt es für die veraltete Einrichtung. Den Pool haben wir nicht getestet da er zur Hauptstraße gelegen war und von vielen Zimmern aus gut einsehbar. Zum Frühstück konnte man selber Waffeln machen, leider war du Auswahl sonst etwas dürftig (keine Eier, kein Obst, keine Wurst, kein Käse, nur eine Sorte Tee).

Let’s not kid ourselves, this is a small-​town motel and the snobs who rate a hotel by the quality of the flowers on the room-​service tray are not going to like it. They won’t stay here anyway, they’ll go straight to the Awahnee.
The day we stayed at the Yosemite Southgate, they did everything right. Patricia (a goddess) made it easy for us to check in and told us of an excellent pizza restaurant for us to get dinner (a Northern California chain restaurant unfamiliar to us) before we headed to Yosemite the next morning. The beds were comfortable, the Wi-​fi was free, the place was QUIET (maybe jarringly so for us city dwellers) and the room was tidy and well-​kept.
We took advantage of the carb-​heavy continental breakfast — why not, we’ll be walking around all day — and took off north to Yosemite, a 20 minute drive away.
Our afternoon trip back after our day at Yosemite was interrupted by a fire in the wooded area between the Park and the motel. We had to take a two-​and-​a-​half hour detour (fortunately, at highway speeds) to get back and found the street barricaded, the front door padlocked and the power turned off.
This is where they provided above-​and-​beyond service.
A call to the number taped to the front door brought a man with a key who let us in to quick-​pack our gear and get out. No hassles, no delays, do you have everything you need? Have a safe trip back home.
THAT is service of the highest caliber.
I look forward to staying there when there isn’t a fire.

The rooms were large for the amount of money that we spent, but there was only 1 king bed in the room for our family of 3. The annoying party too is that they charge for additional people in the room. They do serve free continental breakfast (aka make your own waffles) and there is a Denny’s right on the other side of the parking lot. It was good to stay at a hotel and still be so close to the park. Although I get a good night’s sleep at this hotel, I was annoyed by the fact that we had to pay extra for our 3^rd person.

A no-​frills option for lodging if you’re visiting Yosemite. It’s located about 20 – 30 minutes from the Yosemite South entrance. The main road in Oakhurst goes straight to Yosemite. So it was in a very convenient location.
I think we spent about as much money on this hotel as our hotel in downtown San Fran and got about half the quality. But that’s peak season for you. When we were checking in, I heard the attendant tell a walk-​in that all hotels in Oakhurst were booked solid for the weekend. Since rooms are hot commodity here, plan ahead, and book early!
They had plenty of parking and free wifi (but it was slow as a snail). They had a big bedroom room, spacious bathroom, empty fridge (that wasn’t filled with mini-​bar stuff), and microwave. However, the décor is woefully outdated.
The vanity was part of the bedroom space not the bathroom area. If you have an early riser in your group and they’re getting dressed, it’s hard not to disturb your companions.
The bathroom was okay, not fantastic. The water pressure wasn’t that great. And the hard water or the bad shampoo made my hair really dry.
Breakfast was nothing to be excited about. We walked by and decided to go to McDonald’s instead.
