Golden Gate Feng Shui School

This program has been life changing in profound ways I could never have anticipated! I uprooted from Massachusetts and moved cross country for the 6 month foundational certification course not knowing quite what to expect, but from the very beginning of the first class I was certain I’d made the right decision. The program unfolded in an intuitive and enlightening way that not only equipped me with the skills to holistically reorient my interior design practice, it also revealed deep insights into the way we live while providing comprehensive tools with which to support my clients, family, community, and self. Feng Shui is a way of creating and supporting harmony within ourselves and our environments, and I strongly recommend this program to anyone looking to enhance their connections and experiences in the world.

I am about to graduate the Spring 2015 curriculum, and it has been an incredible experience. I came in with a background in interior design and energy healing, and this course was truly a marriage of my truest passions. We were blessed with an amazingly wise faculty, including some guest teachers that are doing some real healing with their life work. I deepened my understanding of the Five Dynamics, of TCM, of the human relationship to space, and learned how to understand environments in the sense of is this good for your health? I also strengthened my meditation and Qi Gong practices, and began to see the world in a much more peaceful and simplified way. I am incredibly excited to continue my work as a practitioner, and highly recommend this program to people of all backgrounds and ages.

I’m about to graduate from the foundational program at GGFSS, which has had a huge impact on my life in the past 6 months. I’ve met a diverse and talented group of teachers, am building great relationships with my classmates, and am learning to live in harmony with the world around me. It’s a very special place that I highly recommend — really a diamond in the rough.

I’m a student of the first rendition of the new school. The teachers have been fabulous, the material engaging, the location great, and the camaraderie bar none. We are all sad to have our foundations course come to an end but looking forward to continuing our studies with the shorter programs and classes they offer (other students will go on to TA and apprentice).
If you’ve been the slight bit interested in learning more about the various aspects of feng shui (land forms, nine star ki, bazhai, and many more!), do yourself the service of at least going to a free open house.

I am a 2009 graduate of the school, and I also took their Vocational Support (Business Coaching) Program. All that I have gained from attending this school is a continuous realization for me. I can only begin to describe. I feel this way because of how perfectly these teachings fit in with my life’s purpose, and how much it has enhanced my life and my work.
The way these teachings were conveyed by some of the top feng shui consultants in the world went far beyond any expectation I could have possibly conceived.
Liu Ming, a Daoist monk and feng shui consultant who has helped SO MANY people, even from life-​threatening illnesses with feng shui and Polestar Astology who taught us the history and foundation of feng shui, along with how to read Polestar Astrology charts
Alex Stark, a feng shui consultant and Peruvian Shaman who taught us how energy ebbs and flows in the land and waters
Howard Choy, an architect and feng shui consultant who has studied with Master’s in China and been practicing since the 70s who taught us about the energy patterns in the prana in our living environments and in our bodies, and how they interact together
Carol Venoila, Natural Building Expert who taught us how to create healthy, natural homes, in tune and more connected to nature
Penny Livingston from the Regenerative Design Institute who taught us about Permaculture

The school has a very rounded curriculum. I have been given so many tools to use to bring harmony, healing and goodness to people’s lives. I was also provided with all course materials, including a LoPan Compass, in English, valued at over $ 300.
I also took the business coaching program. I now feel like I have a treasure chest full of all these precious gems that I’m just beginning to sift through to help me build my businesses. Monica Shah from Ideal Balance based in New York City, heads this program. All the information she gives to help us create successful businesses is exponentially more valuable than the cost of the program. Bryan Franklin also taught us about Sales and how to go about it with integrity, ease, and clarity. Karin Witzig Rozelle taught us about public speaking. We also met with an accountant and an attorney who provided us with additional information about setting up our businesses. We were told step by step how to set up our businesses, run them, promote and market them, and make them successful. In addition, we were given websites and business cards to get us started.
I will always be grateful for everything I received at Golden Gate School of Feng Shui. I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in the ancient healing art of feng shui, and who is looking for a satisfying career and creating their life to be just how they want it to be ~ free from the constraints of a 9 to 5 job, and doing something worthwhile in the world to restore the earth to her natural state of harmony once again.

I am a graduate of the school in 2007, and have been practicing Feng Shui ever since. I have gone on to study in China and Hong Kong, as well as with other teachers and schools. The knowledge I gained from the GGSOFS was so good, that all of these other training sessions were easy! And no other school that I have studied at gives you so much support, nor helps in all ways to make you feel part of the Feng Shui community, and ready to begin doing professional consultations. And the most important thing, is that all students study together for 10 months, meaning that you create long lasting, supportive relationships, and actually have new friends who truly understand what you are doing.
The life changes alone are worth it, but if you want to gain knowledge and business skills to be a consultant, this is the place for you!

I enrolled in Golden Gate School of Feng Shui’s Professional Certification Program in 2006. To be honest, my decision to enroll was more impulsive than premeditated… Little did i know how profoundly this course would change my life. As the intricacies and profundities of ancient knowledge gradually unlocked themselves, it became clear that feng shui was a life path, not just a curiosity.
I can’t imagine that the depth of understanding I gained nor the passion to pursue this professionally would have been revealed to me through anything less than what Golden Gate School of Feng Shui offers: 9 intensive 4-​day modules, internationally recognized instructors at the top of their field, incredible student support, the option for additional professional guidance, and inclusion in an unbelievably warm, friendly community (just to name a few winning qualities).
This year I decided to return to GGSFS as a Graduate. (I couldn’t get enough!) The school has evolved and grown from when I took the program two years ago, and I am still very much impressed with the potency of information, community and professionalism presented by GGSFS.

I have been doing Professional Organizing since 2002, which is also when I became interested in Feng Shui. I got my hands on every book I could find and incorporated everything I learned into my organizing work when I could. Even though I became the one to go to among all of my friends for Feng Shui recommendations, I still felt I had only scratched the surface and needed to move on from books to an experienced teacher.
After researching every school I could find, from study abroad programs in China to individual teachers to schools, it was the Golden Gate School of Feng Shui that got me the most excited.
This school has THE most comprehensive Feng Shui curriculum of any school I researched before I signed up for the 2007 – 2008 program.
Some schools will certify their students after a couple of weekend intensive courses on basic Feng Shui. The Golden Gate School of Feng Shui’s program is a full 10 months. Classes happen once a month on an extended 4-​day weekend of learning that starts Friday and ends Monday.
This is an intensive training in Classical Feng Shui that incorporates pertinent and valuable information about sustainability, Permaculture practices, how to create non-​toxic and «green» human living enviroments, and EMFs. Topics covered over the course of the year include: how to work with the 5 elements; how to «read» the energy of people, landscapes, cityscapes, and buildings; how to use the divinational arts of the I-​Ching, Ming Gua, Chinese 4-​Pillars Astrology, and 9 Star Ki; Feng Shui that incorporated modern Green and Permaculture perspectives and techniques; creating sacred space; and space clearing.
It may not seem like much or it may seem like a lot — really it can be nearly overwhelming amounts of information. For those hungry to learn, this is the good stuff that others have had to study and search out for YEARS to learn or that they may never learn at all. You will go away versed in the widest possible base of knowledge about Classical Feng Shui that a practitioner can start out with in less than a year.
Rather than being one of those practitioners that fills people’s homes with kitchy imported Asian charms passed off as Feng Shui «cures», you will go away with the kind of training that allows you to comprehensively assess your client’s Feng Shui needs and recommend changes that actually change their lives while fitting their lifestyle and personal decorating sensibilities. Store-​bought charms optional. What you do with it is up to you, but it’s a great base foundation for starting out!
Note: The program here could be 5 stars but the school has parted ways with Roger Green as an instructor, who is a spectacular teacher with 20-​some odd years of Feng Shui study, practice, and teaching experience. While the curriculum will continue to be amazing, only time will tell if the teachers that replace Roger will also be as amazing.
Another part of the 4 stars is the lack of transparency around school costs. During my time as a student information about additional one-​time classes, the Vocational Support Program, and the annual Business Conference were withheld until the last minute. Those with unlimited budgets may not mind, but those with tighter budgets often had to forgo extras that they would have been able to budget for if they had been given ample time to prepare for the additional costs.
