I respect Hari so much: she has years of experience in bodywork which is one level at which I appreciate her. I am her client and she knows how to take care of me. I initially came to her for Thai massage — which, if you know Thai massage, can actually be harsh and somewhat painful — and I was so grateful to experience Hari’s fusion of Thai technique with Western style soothing-ness. Since then, I have also had the pleasure of receiving her table massages, during which she often incorporates Thai stretches so you get a bit of deep tissue with the benefit of the total table surrender. In addition to being skilled, I respect Hari for making her studio so safe for me: I spill out a lot of feelings and thoughts, and she always listens. She knows how to keep a boundary between my storm and her sanctuary, and yet she also knows how to be relatable, empathic and encouraging. I know a variety of massage therapists in the Bay Area and so when I am asked for a recommendation, I try to really take into account who is asking for the referral and who to send them to. To Hari, I send my friends who will appreciate a long term relationship with a massage therapist. The groupon friends who just want something cheap and pleasant, I can send elsewhere — the massage therapist friends of mine who do bodywork for a living: they are the ones I will send to Hari. Or friends of all ages who actually appreciate having their shoulder or low back pain fixed, who need a space where they can drift off and just let Hari lead them into a trance, or who are emotionally all flustered/worried/overwhelmed and in need of someone nurturing, wise and just good — through and through. I can’t believe I didn’t write this review until now — it has been a few years that I have been Hari’s client, through ups and downs — but I’m finally ready to share the secret about one of the best(absolute best) massage therapists I know.

Being pregnant is scary — I mean hella’ fricken scary. I can’t recall 1-minute of enjoying pregnancy. The first trimester was hell. The second trimester provided a slight reprieve from waves of nausea, overwhelming anxiety, and feeling like my guts were squished. Now I’m in the third trimester and my skin is so stretched all the time I feel like it should probably just burst open. I can hardly breathe and it hurts to walk. Hari knows what she is doing and it was a HUGE relief to be in her care for the short 60 minutes on her table. From the perfect placement of pillows, to instructing me how to position myself on my sides so I wasn’t squishing anything was pure genius. She then used a a very firm touch to work my back and something like trigger-point release to really get into my hips which have been giving me major problems. My absolutely fave part of the session was her focus on my neck as well as her Thai fusion techniques on my chest, shoulders and arm joints which provided so much blood and circulation to my upper body that is usually very stagnant and cramped from old injuries, working on a computer all day, and pregnancy. Hari has an arsenal of techniques to open up your body, give you relief, and set you straight! Next time, I’m gonna book a MUCH longer session: D 90 minutes minimum!!! GAWD I can’t wait!

Hari has an amazing gift for healing and an intuitive touch. Her energy is grounded, knowing, and full of light. She has a great sense of what I need throughout her massages. She worked on me through my pregnancy and after my birth. I highly recommend her!

Hari’s Thai massage felt like a ritual of completion for a difficult and important transition period in my life. It kick started my Spring! Alive, pulsating, vibrant, giggling, full of sap is how I left the treatment room.
