Ridge Vineyards & Winery

This is a review of the Tasting Room in the Santa Cruz mountains. Where we received a seriously snotty reception from Amy and the curly-​haired girl, who complained opening and loudly in front of our party. There were 12 in our group, for a newly 40 year old. We had let them know when we would arrive a week before, and when we arrived asked if they had made arrangements for us, and were told, «I sent you and email, so sorry you didn’t get it.» I was reminded of that Hawaiian Airline commercial, what she meant was screw you.
We were told only 6 of us could enter the tasting room at a time and that the other 6 would have to wait outside. The lower picnic tables were full, and the upper one’s were closed. Who closes picnic tables, on a busy Saturday? Why close picnic tables? I inquired about using the closed picnic tables, and was informed that they didn’t have the staff to support opening those tables. What’s to support?
The bright spot was the wine, had a great Grenache and a Zin. The rest of the folks that worked there seemed genuinely helpful and the outside receptionist did her best to help as well. But had standing orders, likely from Amy, not to leave her post. A few years back I belonged to the their wine club, but they started to ship us «special» bottles that were not as good as the retail wine, so I quit.
Maybe they are so big and make so much money now that they don’t feel they have to be nice to visitors?
