Saf Keep Storage is one of the best in the bay area, it is very, very clean and safe. All the staff are also friendly and professional. Edwin you are the best! I recommend Saf Keep for those who are looking for a place to store your Christmas Items, Camping and any other house hold things you just need to hold on to for what ever reasons. The best part was that I needed a larger unit and still got 50% off the next couple of months. Trust me you won’t be sorry. Saf Keep is the only place to store your treasures ;)

Great Everything! — Staff, warehouse/​storage units, hours and safety features. I left the site feeling quite pleased and sure that the contract I worked out will be honored, my items will be safe and that whenever I drop by, I’ll be okay too.

Saf Keep is the way to go! They were friendly and helpful every step of the way, offering to show me the unit, give me details on the site’s security and pricing plans and what I needed to get set up — (get a cheaper lock at the hardware store 2 mins down the street). My first month was 50% off and they also receive mail which was super helpful for me, since I shipped all of my things before moving from NYC to Oakland. The whole facility seemed very clean and well run, which is comforting. They also have month-​to-​month agreements that make it perfect for storage before finding a new apartment, without signing a contract or anything like that. Appreciate the help and kind service!

Great experience at Saf Keep Storage. I was assisted by Sandy at the desk and Edwin gave me a great tour of the facility. The property is safe, clean and well maintained. A friend of mine rented a unit at this facility more than 5 years ago and quality has not diminished at all. I always knew that this is where I’d do business if I needed a storage unit.

Most importantly, some folks believe storage is where your «junk» lives. In my case it is not at all. I had a family member that was in the hospital for over 2 years and as emotional as that was, staff was very helpful and ensuring the safety of my family members valuables.

Saf Keep Storage has truly gone the extra mile to resolve my situation. They are are now staffed adequately and are very serious about providing the finest service they can. They compensated me for two months storage and helped me move my things into another unit. It all went very smoothly. And, of course, they did repair their roof, so no more leaks! My unit was only very lightly impacted by the leak and nothing of consequence was damaged. Plus they have, if not climate control, exactly, a very clean and dry building which is earthquake retrofitted and carefully maintained. The staff there feel like family and I really appreciate their warmth and caring attitude. And thanks to Paul, the general manager, for helping to keep me happy as a customer and seek a resolution that benefited all parties. After having visited many other storage companies I feel this is definitely in the top two in Oakland, for sure!

Best, safest location and the most professional group of individuals to work with. The facility is clean and secure. I would recommend this location to anyone that is wanting to store their personal belongings and treasures

I’ve stored items at this location four years ago, and had an excellent experience, so when I needed to find a storage space again, Saf Keep was my first choice.
It may not be the cheapest location, but you get excellent service and accessibility that makes it worth the price.
One of the most important concerns for me regarding storage is access hours. Most locations provide access only during weekdays, with some limited weekend hours. Safkeep offers 7am — 8:45pm access 7 days a week, which is a huge plus. They also have spacious elevators and plenty of carts to help move your stuff.

My recent move to Oakland required storage as I temporarily downsized from house to apartment. Research had to be done on line, and SafKeep proved to be right down the street, within a mile of the apartment. The website was easy to navigate, yet being new to storage, I still called and walked through the process with a real person. I went to the office and got some paperwork out of the way the day before the moving van arrived, and so had the chance to check the place out.
I don’t know what a previous reviewer is referring to about the free van, as it appears just fine. Note that it MUST be returned by 4:00. There is no negotiating to use it later. While my misunderstanding of the rules created a bit of a problem using it as a shuttle to my apartment, I can understand that the office would not have a way to track the truck were it brought in after they closed. (The 4 p.m. return offers them plenty of time to locate a late truck and get it back before closing for the day).
All of the staff I have met is friendly, polite, and helpful. The buildings are bright, and the units have their own lighting a well. The grounds, elevators, hallways and units are clean. There always seem to be flat dollies available at the elevators, and you can drive right up and park near your unit or an elevator.
I was worried about the cost of storage, but SafKeep has many deals, beyond 1 month, and the staff will help you find the best deal for their facility, base on YOUR needs. I needed a 10×15 unit, (plus another smaller one in the end), and kind of expected it might cost more than it did, so no complaints there. I’d say, if you have a lot of stuff and don’t want to pay for storage, then utilize their e-​bay or donation unit services!

I’ve stored my belongings at Saf Keep Oakland for almost 3 years and I highly recommend them. I always felt everything was safe while it was there! The facility is monitored 24 hours a day. The employees were always friendly, yet professional and always helpful when needed. Marta has been the manager for over 15 years and is present at the facility. I especially want to thank Sandy, who was so helpful at the beginning and again on move out day.
If and when the need arises again, that I need a storage facility, I will not hesitate to use Saf Keep Oakland. Thank you!

They should remove those old pics of the moving van cause that is not what it is like now at Safkeep.
I just happily moved into a large unit there and I couldn’t be happier.
The staff were friendly and clear and there are a lot of them! The unit is secure and clean and here is the big kicker: IT IS WELL LIT! Did I mention that my unit has an actual light switch in it??? For those use storage units that are more economical, you know the pain, right? In the past we had to buy camping lanterns to use in the units in the dark… this place is so well lit it is amazing!!!
They let us use their large large moving truck for next to nothing when we moved in, we «spun» the wheel and got $ 10 off the first month, the place has good long hours… it is a dream. Seriously.
I know that storage units being dreamy probably sounds stupid to a few, but for those of us who can’t afford space in our homes or offices to accommodate all our stuff (and in my case my organization works with our stored materials on a weekly basis) it means a lot to come to a storage place that is so nice.
We looked around, and other places were like dark caves, dirty, under staffed or not staffed at all, had no or scary parking, were sometimes surrounded by Walkers (zombie reference, yes), and weren’t nice to us.
This place costs a little more but is worth it. Highly recommend.

I recently moved to the East Bay and was looking online for storage facilities. After reviewing about 6 or 7 locations, I decided on Saf Keep Storage because they had the best online deals.
I visited the location and checked out a few different storage unit sizes before deciding on which one would work best for my stuff. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and really explained things thoroughly (the hours, their services, etc.)
The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking when I got there. The facility is very clean and well lit. I felt very safe and comfortable being there.
The best thing about Saf Keep is the service. Everyone is so friendly! They will even help you move your stuff in if you need help! Because of their free dollies and move in cart, I didn’t end up needing help, and was able to get everything put away with two trips.
I would highly recommend Saf Keep! :)

There are cheaper facilities around, but they don’t have the access hours, scrupulously clean facilities, great maintenance, choice of dollies and multiple elevators that this place does. I’ve used Saf Keep Storage for over a year, and the only problem I’ve had is with other renters occasionally hogging the elevator. The staff has been polite, attentive and very capable. I would recommend this place without reservation.

I’ve updated this review with pictures of the «free» moving truck that leaks.
I pay $ 206 every month, and every month I cringe at what a horrible set up this is. I can’t wait to move everything out and be done with this place.
I hope my unit doesn’t have water damage, considering the leaks I saw in the hallway by the windows on the top floor of the building.
I have to agree with Leslie on the issue of contacting this place. I’ve spoken with a call center person somewhere and Martha. If you write a negative review, be prepared to a get a phone call with someone telling you that they’d like to make it better and asking for you to contact them. .. to no avail. Well, if you don’t get exhausted with phone tag, then keep at it, because it is pretty useless given their odd hours.
Here is another helpful piece of advice to this business: Don’t tell me you would like to make it better and ask me to call you back. Be proactive and sincere and act on it. I don’t want to spend the energy to negotiate with you. I wanted to pay you, store my family’s things, and be done with it. I didn’t set out to pay $ 206 a month for a headache and a series of aggravated phone calls.

Amazing storage facility! Clean, big, safe & friendly! They even have a rent-​free van onsite to use. Made moving, boxing and storing much easier.

If you want first class service, talk to the nicest people, know your personal belongings are safe and secure? Then this is the place for you, although I hate to pass on the secret!
Everyone is always kind, extremely helpful and accommodating. Sandy is amazing, I want to clone her, she’s leads in excellent customer service!

Who knew, finding a storage unit would merit such extensive Unilocal research?! I must have spent an entire month scouring reviews, looking at pictures, Google Earthing locations, and touring storage facilities before settling on Saf Keep. That should tell you, it’s pretty darn awesome.
What I like most: it’s super clean, has late access hours (til 8:45pm), has tight security with a zero break-​in record, good location with easy freeway on & off, and lots of amenities to make schlepping your stuff easier. They have 3 – 4 flatbed dollies at each elevator so you can take everything in one trip. Also, they offer a free moving truck rental up to 20 miles, which spares you an extra U-​Haul expense. Oh, and they have an eBay site that helps you sell your stuff — you just send them pics and a description and they do the rest. Super cool.
So far, I’ve been a customer for 1 month and already feel great about the decision to go with Saf Keep. Their prices seem a bit high compared to others, but safety, cleanliness, and accessibility are worth the extra bucks. Take a tour and you’ll be sold. Life without clutter is a beautiful (priceless) thing!

You might think all storage units are the same and I would have say, not so! Over the years, I’ve collected alot of «stuff.» Don’t ask me what I plan on doing with all this «stuff» but someday I’ll go through it and decide BUT until then I’m keeping it at Saf Keep!
So what makes them different? Well first off is the staff — over the top friendly and polite. Secondly, the units and the entire area is always very clean. Third, the hours — while not 24/​7, they are convenient and lastly, the place is safe.
