Showcase Wigs

Poor, poor Cathy has lost her touch. I went to her for about 5 years and in those 5 years she has managed to up her eyebrow prices a whopping $ 4, get cheaper with the lotion she uses, (which is a big thing for people with sensitive skin like me.) AND made my eyebrows thinner and thinner. The last time I went to her she razored off half of my eyebrow and covered it up with the eyebrow pencil. Not only is she dishonest, she is always popping gum in your face and has coughed on me countless of times! I stopped going to her and decided to give her another try because i felt bad for the woman. Big mistake and a waste of $ 15. It’s going to take me at least 3 months to undo her mistake. Don’t go to her, she has lost it!

This lady is bomb! Went in, took less then 30 seconds to get me in a chair and then she went to work on my brows! I think the price has gone up because it was $ 10 (maybe that was just because I am a man). Worth every penny!

Kathy and Angie are the best. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. I drive over 20 miles in I-​80 traffic just to get my eyelashes done. I used to get my eyebrows done for years because after Kathy shapes them, she pencils them in perfect and I could never duplicate it! However, about 5 years ago I went ahead and let Kathy do my eyebrows as permanent makeup. She pencils them to your satisfaction and then she makes that shape permanent. I had them touched up about 2 years ago, and ever since I first had them done I really just pluck the hairs that grow outside of the line. I love it, with my eyebrows done permanent and my lashes done I don’t feel the need to wear makeup throughout the week. She’s been in business about 40 years I believe. If you’re a girl who likes lashes, you should already have heard of Kathy! Only tip of advice, she does not accept appointments so if you are only having your ‘brows done that line will go quick. If you are having you’re lashes done, be patient!

First of all, in all of my years of going to Cathy’s, I have NEVER witnessed anyone purchasing a wig from there! Everybody goes there for eyebrow shaping.lashes.permanent makeup, etc. Cathy is the best and very well known all over Oakland!!! I’m in and out in less than 2 minutes. perfect brows.every single time! Her price has gone up a bit.$ 7 when I first started going. now $ 10. Do I mind??? NOPE!
Will recommend Cathy’s to anyone and everyone I know!

I’m not sure what has transpired over time but I just wasn’t satisfied with my last visit. Cathy took my eyebrows so thin and my eyelashes came off in one day?! When I came back after she said I would have to pay full price for another set. Totally unacceptable. Not coming back

After reading all the good reviews of this place, I pretty much ignored the few bad reviews because I’m the type of person who likes to experience things on my own unless, that place has more bad reviews than good. Okay so I was excited to come here to get my lashes done for my trip to Hawaii with my fiancé in a week. Gotta doll up! Well, as soon as I stepped into this place I heard the bell ring, the kind that indicated someone just walked into your shop. So I would’ve expected a welcome or «how can I help you». I stood there with nobody around for a few minutes. I saw someone’s shadow in the back and thought to myself, where’s the Boss or workers at least??? Then all of a sudden I finally heard a woman’s voice asking how can she help me. Uh ok, so that shadow in the back was her the whole time. She knew I was standing there waiting but didn’t even bother greeting? I know that many familiar customers must come there, but they should’ve expected new people walking in too, so they should learn how to greet! I came inside because she asked me to and we were talking about lashes. The woman named was Kathy, she didn’t seem to be interested in talking to me. Always looking away and looked like she was rolling her eyes at me. Since I got there already I might as well try to see what’s it all about. As she was doing my eyelashes, a customer came in and she just completely stopped doing mines and started doing eyebrows for that person. I assumed that was her regular customer. Well, what the??? I didn’t get any explanation either. I pay for my service not come in to ask for a free one, so why was I being treated that way? Rude much! I’m starting to think she doesn’t care about keeping new customers. Well, she got what she wanted because I won’t ever come back here again. She is not the only person who does this, I can go to others.
Oh, by the way, I had to come back 5 minutes after I left because I noticed my right eye lashes looked retarded. It weren’t placed right. Another reason I feel like I shouldn’t even have paid that $ 30.

eyebrows are 6 dollars she uses a razor and it takes like 5 mins. I only go here when im desperate and cant get to my regular eybrow shop. I like waxing better because the hair stays gone alot longer (razor causes the hair to grow back in a week).
She actually makes them to thin for my liking.

I picked a great day to visit, and based on what I’ve heard I will attempt to make it my regular day and time I was in and out in under 15 min thank goodness because I or got all about getting a meter ticket o_​o! Typically parking is a nightmare in this area I sure lucked up today.
My eyebrows are awesome, if I must say so myself, I’ve definitely found my new spot I’ve been hearing about her for years, why did I wait so long!!! I don’t usually wear lashes but if they are done with the same precision as the brows they have to be great too. I may give them a try for Miami:))

I let Kathy do my eyebrows for years and then 3years ago I let her do my permanent eyebrows and they still look awesome. People are shocked when I tell them that they are permanent because they look so natural. Thanks Kathy

I don’t know ANYONE who comes in here looking for wigs…
But if you’re looking for some eyebrows or eyelashes to D.I.E. for… Kathy is your lady! And only for $ 7? Now that’s a steal! She is so skilled at what she does that people wait around for hours to have HER make them look amazing.
I don’t wear lashes often, but I’m here faithfully for an eyebrow touch-​up. She uses razor blades instead of plucking, threading or just flat out snatching the hair off your face (waxing). Love her!!! Been going for about 8 years strong… I’m not changing up now! :)

Cathy only PERSON that I trust with a razor and do my eyebrows period! First time I went was for my senior prom in1999 and been going there since. Love her work, her personality, and professionalism. Lots of respect for her and the shop. Thank you Cathy for taking care of my brows bc my sisters now be wishing they never do that waxing crap ;)

Went in last Thursday, my 2^nd time getting individual lashes I might add, meet Kathy. A very nice woman, also patient ;-) I still had on individual short lashes, she removed those, my own lashes still there, not cut or damaged in anyway. I upgraded to individual medium lashes, after a few tears & holding my breath, came a beautiful set of lashes, that almost represented a cat. LOL, thank you so much Kathy! I still have them today, I wash my face regularly, take showers, cried over a few sentimental movies, they still stand & look fabulous! Highly recommended. Establishment is small, on a busy street, lot of trucks making deliveries, metered parking, & few restaurants to enjoy also. I went in early to beat the traffic, can get busy from what I’ve been told, & you do have to pull a ticket for which service you want, eyebrows or eyelashes. I will be returning, Thanks again.

I been going here off and on for about 10 years every since my mom introduce me to this shop, Cathy does good work at eyebrows and lashes, but I like the way her daughter does my eyelashes.
The shop is a hole in the wall spot with dusty wigs that been on the shelves since I started going here 10 years ago and it get crowded with ladies and shemales. If you plan on making a trip go early in the morning or go before Thursday or Friday to beet the crowd and have money for the meter.

So I don’t know anything about the wigs here, so if that’s what your looking for, then move on from my review. I came for the Cathy, the eyebrow maven who’s handy with a razor blade, to tame my brazen brows.
When you first walk in, it’s pretty sparse, then you realize that near the back of the room is a mirrored wall with red and blue tickets and numbers hanging on it. Grab a ticket according to the service you want (one is for eyebrows, the other is for putting on eyelashes, don’t remember which color is which, but you get the picture.. .), then wait your turn. It was pretty empty when I got there about 4:30 on a Wednesday. She was only working on one person, so maybe a 5 minute wait at max.
Cathy works deftly and quickly. I was out in under 5 minutes. She’ll pencil in your brows afterwards, but I was fine just with what was there. It’s only $ 7 for brows, which is a great deal. I’ll be back for sure.. ..

Don’t waste your time patronizing this business. I used to go here years ago and they did a good job but now I remember why I stopped. Kathy and her daughter do not respect their clientele at all. Peek your head in there and you will see people waiting and waiting and waiting and WAITING! People wander in and put like residents of purgatory wearily asking if their number has been called yet. You would think that with all the money that has been poured into this business over the years they would at least have some clean, comfortable environment while you’re waiting. No such luck. The chairs are either hard and plastic or dirty cloth that should have been replaced long ago. Also, don’t really expect fairness with the «numbers» they give out. Apparently they have favorites because despite mr asking if the woman wandering in before me was next and being assured that I was, the woman was surely called in next. What??? Seriously??? After I waited all that time and called and was told, you need to be here NOW you’re next! I left. I will not patronize a place like this there are other places to go people. And, don’t expect a smile or a thank you either!

First, let me start by saying nevuh, evuh, evuh go to this place the day before a major holiday or major local event (ie. concert, the party that is the talk of the town, or Pookie’s wedding). If you do you will have a very long wait. OK, moving on. This is a wig store, although I have never witnessed anyone purchase, or even look at a wig for that matter. Walk to the back and you will find Cathy diligently applying lashes; your choice of short, medium, or long. I have been going to Cathy off and on for a number of years, but now that I do my own lashes I just go for my brows. No waxing or plucking, just shaping. She shapes with a razor, and I love the way she shapes my brows the only downfall is that because she uses the razor it doesn’t last very long. Only charges 7 bucks. The place is kinda seedy, but it’s a well organized operation. Walk in and get a red ticket for lashes, blue for brows, and prepare for your number to be called.

Its true. you should NEVER go on a friday or saturday unless you get there before they open. However, Cathy is super fast. Even if there are people waiting, I always get my eyebrows done within 15 minutes. I go during the week though. She does a good job and before you can blink, she’s done.

great wigs! no kidding, I bought the cutest wig possible here. every time I wear it, people are all like, how’d you get your hair that color? or, Wow, that’s a great wig, no really, that wig is actually super cute, I mean seriously, don’t walk away from me when I’m talking to you, I need you to write down the address of the store where I can get myself a wig like that…
And they are CHEAP.

I have been going to Showcase about 10 years now. I keep going back because I had that one bad experience of waxing, that told me to not go anywhere that may be close by and just wait till you go back to Cathy.
What I know for sure is DON’t ever try to go on a Friday evening or Sat period. That’s when the Event chicks come, who NEED her to do magic come in. Everybody and there ancestors is up in there getting eyelashes done. I have only got eyelashes once, and that was when I first went. Yeah I looked Fabulous FULL on the lashes, but them $ 25 bad boys was OUT two days later because I was not use to my lashes being that long and it felt so weird everytime I Blinked, which in turn made me look like I had a blinking problem.
Sike your mind cause your boooty don’t shine, If you call yourself going first thing Saturday morning or friday after work thinking you will be the only one there. It will be about 5 Grandmas and Great Granny’s out there waiting for Cathy to open up so they can get there face on. They leave there with lashes and eyebrows and they look like they just been on Oprah getting a makeover in 1 hour.
I stay strictly for the eyebrows. She does not wax she shaves with a REAL razor and does her THIZZLE for real. She charges $ 7 for eyebrows and I think $ 25 and up for eyelashes. She does fake permanent moles and make up and that is pricey. If you always wanted a Marilyn Monroe mole go ahead and hook her up.
The establishment is a hole in the wall for real. parking is tough to get sometimes cause you are downtown. She sells wigs but have yet to see one person buy one. She has her daughter in there doing lashes too. She only does the eyebrows. Her husband collects the money and they work them three barber seats up all day calling Blue 51 or Red 78… cause you gotta get a blue or red ticket with your number to hold a spot in the barber chair.

If you want nice looking eyebrows but are too scared to get them plucked, waxed, or pulled… then this is your place. I’ve been going here for 8 plus years (that makes me feel all old) and have only once been disappointed. Cathy is really nice and knows how to do her job fast and professionally.
As with the last poster, it gets a star taken away because I have had to wait more than 45 minutes to get my eyebrows done. So my advice is… be aware that this might happen and bring some food, iPOD, school work, or anything else that can keep you preoccupied where you won’t start thinking of how ridiculous the wait is. Also, don’t go on Thursday or Friday and she’s not open Monday.
Note: I have only gotten my eyebrows done here, I can’t comment on the eyelashes although I can say from what I see… they do a good job on those as well.
