ACME MUSIC has been an establish retail music shop based in East Oakland since 1968. Jay Rose, Jazz drummer and ACME founder worked in his shop daily and was so well loved by his neighbors that he was nicknamed «the Mayor» of MacArthur. He maintained a drum dept nearly 40 years and kept his own drums set up and played until his passing in 2010. While chatting one day Jay told me about two special people in his life, John Middle and Annette Loveless who Secured his Social Security, V.A. benefits and housing. When Jay was ready, John and Annette bought the ailing business and kept Jay on as Mayor and Chief. ACME House of Music as new moniker, John and Annette began the task of revitalizing the store with a focus on community and music education
