I can’t say enough about the top notch service I received from Holli & her team! I was planning a Christmas party for my boss & from the moment Holli returned my call, she was nothing short of amazing. She worked closely with the party rental place & got all things needed for us to include tables, heat lamps & at the last minute she was also able to provide tents due to the inclement weather! Her assistance with everything from choosing the colors, to the set up, to the location of all things involved was so much more than we could have expected. Her menu was so extensive and she was able to prepare everything gluten free as well. She was able to provide the bartender onsite as well as the chef. They each brought their very own classy touch to the event!
As long as I’m in this area I will ALWAYS call on Holli for any party I throw.

I hired Holly to cater a wedding shower of about 30 – 35 people. I wanted to be able to enjoy the party for once, usually I do all the cooking. The food was amazing! We had so many compliments on the food and the service. They came early to set up the tables and get the appetizers ready. The presentation was beautiful! They will also work with any decorations or linens that you want to use. Holly’s server was very professional and helpful. If you have any questions Holly will help you set up the event the way you want it, not what she wants, which I found was the problem with some other caterers. Her server collected plates, threw away trash, etc which I didn’t expect. But most of all, the food was definitely worth it. So glad I found them and will definitely use them again.

I used Holli and Slice of Heaven to cater my company Christmas party (yes, I’m late in writing this review)! They were absolutely amazing, worked with my budget and offered great suggestions. My guests raved about the food! It was set up on time, warm (the warm items), the presentation was beautiful and everything was perfect. This event was for about 50 people and we held the event in my home — so setting up throughout the main floor and patio area was great!
Everything went off without a hitch and needless to say, i would HIGHLY recommend Holli and her team and definitely plan on using them again!

Holli catered my wedding last month. It was a small, intimate wedding at my parents home. I wanted great food, beautiful presentation, and professional staff. From the beginning Holli was amazing, she took the time to sit down with me and listen to my vision. She is so much more than just a caterer, she provided so much invaluable advise and ideas. She even came the night before the wedding to assist with the walk through. She was amazing with the guidance and advice she provided.
The day of… This is a story in and of itself. My wedding day had record breaking rain. Since it was an outdoor wedding we had a tent up and covered the patio. The rain was so heavy though there were leaks and water pooling right above where guests were supposed to be seated for dinner. There were 3 big tables, heavily decorated with glass and crystal that needed to be moved inside last minute so guests wouldn’t get soaked during dinner. They pulled it off seamlessly! Holli handled it so well, and alleviated stress and work for me, my husband, and our families. I appreciate so much that my parents and loved ones were able to enjoy the night because Holli was there to coordinate. Without her it would have been a lot more work from my parents and guests to work around the rain.
On top of that the food was great, service was wonderful, and Holli handled so many details through out the night, she was instrumental in how wonderful my wedding was!

My company hired Slice of Heaven last week for a corporate event of about 90 – 120 people.
Holli Vanderslice exceeded my expectations in every department – the food was just as beautiful as on her website and she worked with my budget in every way she could. Her staff was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful even with items that had nothing to do with food! (Helped with staging and rental equipment that we had ordered separately.)
They were tidy and worked with our event space and set up. I received many compliments on the delicious food and spectacular service – I highly recommend Slice of Heaven Catering for any type of event because I know that they will make modifications to the menu and service to fit your specific needs. If you want a caterer that you literally do not have to worry about during your event because you know they are doing such a wonderful job – call SOH!

I booked SOH catering last minute for my work launch party. Holli was amazing!!! She walked me through what I would need step by step and totally took our needs into consideration first and foremost. The most important thing I can mention though is how much I did NOT think about both Holli and her bartender, Melanie, during the event. THAT’S HOW GOOD THEY WERE! They came in and out, worked around our staff and did their job impeccably. If you want excellent food, top notch service and a HUGE helping hand on the day of your big event please do not hesitate to call Holli and her staff.

It’s taken awhile to post this review, but the awesomeness of my September beach wedding is still fresh in my head thanks to SOH and especially, Holli! From our first meeting Holli got me so pumped up with ideas and suggestions while listening to exactly what we wanted. We had a limited budget and she worked diligently to keep us within our range. Due to her experience, she helped me to find wonderful vendors and plan, in careful detail, our special day. Everything went perfectly, from the setup, service and food to the execution of the ceremony. She even helped me get in my dress! She went above and beyond in every way for us. I HIGHLY recommend SOH!

Hosted a small business lunch in Oceanside recently. The folks at Slice of Heaven Catering did a very nice job. Buffet consisted of steak salad, chicken caesar salad and a really tasty orzo salad, assortment of artisan breads, lemonade, chocolate and lemon bars. Abundant, tasty… arrived on time. All good.

I don’t plan to change my rating, but after I wrote my initial review, I finally heard back from SOH. Surprise! I was told they weren’t booking weddings until after Jan. 2013.
I’m sure they’re busy and all the other 5-​star ratings are the reason they are booked so much that they cannot book anything else until after January, but we’ll be moving forward with other caterers.

Slice of Heaven went above and beyond for my mustache-​themed graduation party. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I really couldn’t have asked for more from them. There were several different kinds of appetizers that never ran out – my two favorites were the shrimp shooters (a crowd favorite!) and the single-​chip nachos. The taco buffet was great – there were so many different choices and combinations to try that everyone at the party had to loosen their belts so they could try it all. They even made me my favorite cake (and snuck pieces to me during the appetizers!). I will definitely use Slice of Heaven again and I highly recommend them.

Holli and her staff at Slice of Heaven are AMAZING! If you are a bride and wondering who can help you with EVERY LITTLE DETAIL (with a smile by the way), then SOH is for you. We had our daughter’s wedding catered last Saturday by SOH at the San Diego Botanical Gardens. When we first booked this beautiful outdoor venue, my thought was «who is going to bring tables, chairs, china, food, drinks, etc. into this place?» Holli Vanderslice and SOH catering are the true answer. We booked one year in advance and, even back then, Holli answered every little question we had. She coordinated ALL the rentals, her chefs made delicious food onsite, set up for us completely, and paid attention to every little detail. As a MOB, I wanted to ENJOY my daughter’s wedding day and I thoroughly DID due to SOH. Holli was on hand ALL day during setup and was probably the last one to leave the venue. THANK YOU Holli and SOH staff for the most beautiful, magical wedding I have ever been to!!!

We are SO glad we booked Slice of Heaven for our wedding! If you want amazing food, super customized and proactive service, and basically perfect execution, do yourself a favor and hire SOH. There are so many things to think about and worry about when you’re planning a wedding — if you hire SOH catering won’t be one of them. And neither will rentals and neither will bar service. Or any of the other things you may ask Holli to do on your behalf.
We hired SOH because Holli is the owner of the business and she is personally involved. This is a HUGE FACTOR when compared to other, larger, more corporate caterers who give you an account executive who does all the communicating with you and then doesn’t even come to the event itself. Corporate employees simply cannot be expected to care as much about your wedding as a small business owner whose reputation and livelihood depend on it!
Not to mention the food was so much better quality than the other tastings we had. Lots of guests commented on it.
Holli and her chef went out of their way to customize a menu based on what we had in mind (Mexican street food, but with a gourmet twist) and what our budget was (they found lots of little ways to keep the cost down such that our guests would never suspect). If you don’t see what you want on their website, don’t worry — it seems like they can do anything!
Holli sub-​contracted our rentals (tables, chairs, lighting, etc.) and bar service. It was super not to have to do that myself! She also provided «day of» coordination including running the whole event. We started with cocktail hour, then her staff ushered everyone into the church for the ceremony, then ushered everyone out to their tables for dinner, and on through the rest of the evening. She coordinated with the band and the shuttle service we had hired separately. She also coordinated with the venue, including about a few special arrangements we had made.
Her staff were polite, they kept the food coming, they kept things clean throughout the night without getting in the way (honestly we didn’t even notice dirty plates get cleared, etc.).
It was extremely vital to have Holli on our team especially because my mother passed away two months before the wedding. We were not in any condition to worry about the details and she took care of everything. She went way beyond the call, even designing and producing little menus that went with the rest of the décor we had brought and packing the things we wanted to take home into my dad’s car so we didn’t have to worry about it at the end. She also brought me a sixpence for my shoe which I didn’t even realize was a wedding custom! :)
Holli may be starting to sound like a bit of a perfectionist, which she may be (and I probably am too) — but she is also really personable and fun to work with. You will not regret hiring Slice of Heaven. She brings a ton of heart to what she does.

excellent food and staff for our wedding at leo carillo ranch. I highly doubt there is anybody who would do a better job, you will be making a mistake using somebody else. everything was great, better than expected. if you have a wedding, use this company, you wont be dissapointed.

They catered our wedding at Leoness Cellars in Temecula and it was delicious! Our first tasting didn’t happen — there was a mix up and they forgot we were coming. But Holli gave us money for lunch and they more than made up for this glitch. My husband and I weren’t sure what we were doing, but Holli guided us through everthing, made suggestions when we weren’t sure what to do. We did a plated dinner with 2 petit entres. We had 130 guests and I was concerned the steak would be over cooked. It was just as delicious and pink as our tasting. The chicken was very succulent (some of our guests actually said that to us). The catering staff were very friendly and even took a group photo in our photo booth!

I have nothing but the highest praise and appreciation for the work of Holli and her whole staff and Slice of Heaven. There is no doubt in my mind that our wedding would not have been as perfect as it was without her team’s hard work. She run’s a tight ship, but has a great time doing it!
From day 1, Holli gave us the highest quality of service and personal attention. She worked within our budget, and truly cared about fulfilling our vision for the ceremony and reception. Having SOH running the show gave me a peace of mind that I didn’t know I needed, but am completely grateful I had.
Beyond the coordinating and planning services, which were the best of the best… the food was FANTASTIC!

Holli and her crew did an amazing job at our wedding reception! The set-​up was great and the food was excellent! It was really nice being able to piece together our own menu and having so much flexibility with all of the meal and beverage options. Holli was extremely accommodating and put a lot of effort into helping us stay within our budget while making the event what we wanted. She made suggestions and gave advice when we needed it and let us customize as much as possible when we didn’t.
All of the details/​pricing of the event were thoroughly explained in the proposal so we were all on the same page. It was always such a relief after meeting with Holli because she took care of creating a timeline for the evening and organizing all the little details.
Holli and the staff were friendly, always there when needed, and very inconspicuous the rest of the time. I didn’t even notice when they packed up to leave. After my husband and I unexpectedly smashed cake all over each others faces, Holli appeared out of thin air with a wet towel. Everything about the night just went perfectly smoothly!
We got tons of compliments on the food and my husband and I enjoyed some of the leftovers that night in our hotel room! (The pineapple ginger lemonade, ice cream sundae bar, and mashed potato bar were especially good!)
I would highly recommend using Slice of Heaven. I got overwhelmed with all the rules and minimums and specific packages that I saw with other catering companies. Holli will listen to you, organize it, and make it happen!

Went yesterday for our tasting and let me tell you… it was AH MAZING! The food is incredible with fresh local ingredients. The new chef is amazing and we were completely WOW! Cant wait for my guests to try the food on our big day. thank you soh

I just cannot say enough wonderful things about Holli and her staff. True, I just got married days ago and I am still cruising on great wedding vibes, but the reason that whole party went so smoothly was due in large part to SOH.
For an outdoor wedding for about 100 people, including a truckload of vegans, Holli and Co. helped suggest florists and bakers, hooked me up with all the rentals I would need, kept me on schedule for planning, coordinated the rehearsal and the entire big day, and (importantly) did not let ANYONE leave hungry. Oh! and she kept me entirely on my proposed budget. no small feat.
The vegetarians/​vegans among my guests all commented on how good the food was because it’s not often that they have so many options. And the more carnivorous guests all the thought (like me and my husband) that the tropical tri-​tip was tri-​licious.
–And not only was the waitstaff WILLING to wear false moustaches (to match the theme of the evening), but they surprised everyone by just VOLUNTARILY sporting the darn things. It was kind of a highlight of the evening.–
Holli is more a full-​service event planner than a caterer, and everybody was mega professional and just really nice. I just can’t imagine using any other caterer now.

Holli /​SOH was absolutely amazing for our May 2010 wedding. I know that without her it would not have been as wonderful as it was. We met with Holli a few times, and emailed a bunch to get all of the details in place. I am a major planner and control freak, but she is even crazier than me — which I loved! She goes over every single detail and lets you know exactly what to expect over the entire process. She handles Day of Ceremony coordinating herself and she is a PRO!
PLUS — KEY IS THAT THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Our guests continue to tell us how great the food was, and we totally agree. My fave was the tri-​tip and mashed potato bar. YUM!
Holli /​SOH is a one-​stop shop and they handle everything. It is so easy to work with her. AND — she has handled several events at Leo Carrillo Ranch and knows exactly how to execute. Her team was fantastic!!!

I came here today with my finance for a tasting before we booked our venue for our wedding next year. We had already booked previously our menu with the owner so as soon as we came in we were eating away.
The stuffed chicken was excellent and the beef tenderloin cooked perfectly medium rare. The veggies weren’t overcooked so the crispness of the broccoli and squash remained in tact.
The owner and the chef were very open to our suggestions for changes and made them immediately so we could try them on the spot. I was hesitant in having a cheese stuffing for the chicken since I know many of my guests are lactose intolerant so they quickly cooked up a veggie stuffing substitute for us to try.
I couldn’t be happier with a cater for my wedding. Crossing my fingers that the tasting will be repeated during the actual event.
