I have been standing here waiting for an employee to assist me in cutting a piece of ply wood for about 15 minutes. 7 employees have walked by and we’ve asked each of them to please find someone to assist us, and still nothing. 6 out of 7 of the employees we’ve spoken with have walked right by us and only one acknowledged us on their own. This is TERRIBLE customer service and makes me not want to come back here again. In the future I will be going to Lowe’s for any home improvement needs.

I am appalled by the service I received, especially how the Assistant Manager Patrick condescendingly dismissed my concerns and aggravation for the incompetence or perhaps lack of customer care I received the night prior.
I purchased blinds for my office and needed two sets. The service personell informed me that only one set was available so I went to the customer service booth to ask if there might be anymore in house. His inventory specified 9 available but rather than look for them, agreed with the woman helping me that there was none. They insisted I go to the Encinitas store because they had 11 in stock. Drive 20 miles away, NO WAY!
I ordered it online in the store right then at 7:10pm and was assured it would come in within the week. I get an email confirmation immediately of my order and left. An hour an a half later, I get another email stating that my order was ready to be picked up! My disgust set in because I knew in my heart, the items were there, they were just too lazy to find them, and I had already left.
I’m so disappointed because my contractor charged me for another day of service because I had the second blinds installed the next day rather then the same day. The gas I had to pay for coming back and the inconvenience of time it put on my schedule just made the situation worse. Then to be spoken to by a manager that had no empathy when I ask how the matter would be rectified, replies with «I don’t need to tell you how I will handle it» just got my blood boiling! That prompted an immediate call to Corporate Headquarters– Customer Relations whom rectified the matter instantly!
Overall, store 0679 did not deliver the Home Depot promise of good customer care! If you have a concern with the store, don’t hesitate to call corporate headquarters, they will fix it Straight Away!

My husband and I bought a washer and dryer with protection plan from Home Depot. The washer broke 7 months later and when I called I had to go through Samsung since it was still under a year. They couldn’t come out to look at it until the next week (which is a terrible thing to hear when you have kids). I called this location and the manager on duty (Patrick) was so rude. He said it would be unrealistic to have someone come look at the washer within a few days. He used the example if your car breaks down it doesn’t get fixed in a couple days, which makes him look like a moron because if my car were to break down I could take it to the mechanic and have it looked at the same day. Anyway, he took down all my info saying he and the associate would work on trying for a sooner day and would call me back within a few hours. 24hours came and went so I called. He didn’t even apologize that no one had called me back. Long story short is that obviously they don’t care about their customer service. Needles to say this manager ‘Patrick’ was terrible.

They don’t know what a drywall router bit is!!! Or looks like. I asked 3 different female employees I didn’t even see a guy to ask. So just left with no purchase

Went in to buy a gas grill! Initially, there was no one around to answer any questions about the grills. The one person who did try to offer assistance with the grills knew nothing about them. Just as we were getting frustrated enough with the chaos to leave the store, the person in charge of that department showed up and things soon changed for the better.
Marqui (if I remember his name correctly) took his time to answer all our questions and worked with us to make the purchase a very pleasant experience. He even delivered the grill to us on the same day.
I must say, without him, we would have definitely taken our business elsewhere, considering the initial disorganization and chaos that was going on at the store.
Overall, we had a pleasant shopping experience, but the store as a whole needs a lot of work in terms of organizing the sales associates, so customers don’t wander around for half an hour, before anyone could offer them assistance.

Quite possibly the worst Home Depot I’ve ever visited. Incompetent, slow employees, with nothing but excuses. It’s retail. You get busy, but if you can’t balance customers, provide a good experience and at least find someone who can provide me with an answer, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Lowes and True Value are close enough, I’ll drive the extra 5 minutes to never come here again. This visit is further proof of the mediocritization of society. The day of the «parts counter guy» are gone. He’s been replaced by incompetent drones who can’t answer a question unless it’s done via computer. Never coming to this HD again.

The five star is for Christopher of the Paint Section. We have been going everywhere to match the paint of our door. And most will just hand us a paint that they think «match». But thank God we came across Christopher. We gave him a chip of our wall and he patiently match it. He doesn’t know how much stress he took from our shoulder. I love customer service like that. Congratulations Home Depot for hiring an employee that cares and do their job with a smile.

Multiple times I have to go to HD for work. I’ve been to many stores. So far, this one in Oceanside is my favorite. The staff here is very helpful, can show and teach you exactly how to install something for your project, help you shop, and offer an over all great customer service!

This is a review solely based on the customer service I received from Hal in lighting. We had a unique floor lamp that stores wouldn’t repair for us and whose warranty expired.
We went to Home Depot and walked with the lamp to lighting where we met Hal and he said he’d give it a try. While replacing a socket it fairly easy this specific one became complicated, but he didn’t give up and we explored a few options.
During this time we laughed and joked with him as he taught us how to approach this should it happen with this or a future lamp. He was patient, informative, and good conversation. Ultimately, we resolved the problem and learned during the process.
Interactions like these don’t happen to often at normal businesses. This was a small but irritating problem that was addressed and fixed. We appreciate «Handsome Hal.»

Service is non-​existent here. There is never anyone available if you need help or have a question. Go elsewhere because it is faster to make it yourself than attempting to buy it from this place. I’ve had employees go the other way when attempting to ask for assistance.

While this is an older location they are well stocked and the store well maintained. Plenty of easy parking and a very helpful staff.
Prices are great, they also have a well stocked clearance section from which we found several lights here for a fantastic price.
No frills, but they always have everything I need and help me find anything I might be looking for.

Final updated review. Pretty much had it with this store. Have done probably 30 different returns here after 60+ visits. Usually don’t have an issue.
Today go to return two items I bought last week that were damaged when I unwrapped them for install. Went to return them for an exchange, and the return staff give me this sass about not wanting to fix them myself with pliers. Seriously? Some other smart ass remarks about me wasting gas to come over to exchange the items.
I called the store and spoke with the manager. Apparently this person in returns has had multiple complaints this week alone.

Over the summer we did a kitchen remodel through Home Depot Oceanside. From go, it was a nightmare. From the designer hitting the hold button on the order instead of send, to the cabinets (13 of them) being blemished and not discovered by the inspection crew. To the New Life crew telling us «life is good, stuff happens» as my wife prepares meals out of our garage for our 6 kids, for not 3 or 4 but 9 weeks! And now, only 3 months after the final piece of the kitchen cabinets was installed, two of the role out shelves are broken and almost all of the cabinet knobs are loose… Home Depot Oceanside will not compensate us what we have asked (which is only 25% off of the total project). And every time we call we are told that we will have an answer by the end of the week. Guess who has to make the phone call to find out if anything has been resolved? We do. They never call us or email to let us know of any progress. There are many more details but I think you all get the picture.
I am beyond disappointed with this store and their inability to provide adequate service. The hard working people of Oceanside deserve better than this. I have a feeling that the Corporate offices would be pretty disappointed in how Home Depot Oceanside is representing their company, at least I hope so.

Literally the worst shopping experience I’ve had in Oceanside. When your job revolves around customer service, maybe you shouldn’t pawn us off on 4 different associates. When a customer asks you a simple question about where to find something, «I’m on break» is not an acceptable answer. If you don’t want me to ask you a question, take the orange apron off. Or you know, maybe just quit being lazy and tell me an aisle number. We spent over an hour trying to buy a grill because we couldn’t find anyone, and the people we found were zero help. We stood at the paint center desk for 10 minutes before giving up. It’s bad when you leave Home Depot thinking «I should have gone to Walmart.»

We spent over $ 100 on wood (at $ 5 per foot and a fee for them cutting it for us) for a bookshelf project.
After sanding, staining, and epoxy-​ing each piece of wood we went to put it together and realized the wood was bowed. Meaning it curved in the middle. Making this wood useless.
I called the store and was told because THEY cut the wood for us they would not be able to take it back or replace it for us because they wouldn’t be able to resell it.
The manager I spoke to was rude, rushed, and uneducated about the products in her store.
I will never shop at a Home Depot again.
Lowe’s has just made a new customer.

Hit or miss. Sometimes you find an associate who is real helpful and friendly, sometimes you find one in hurry and doesn’t have time to help, and sometimes you can not find anyone at all, so you get in the car and go to Lowes.

I like this location because every time I have been here the staff have been very helpful towards me and my SO. Whenever we have a question, someone quickly responds and works with us to find a solution. I have never left disappointed when it comes to customer service. I even found some broken and damaged items and they either gave them to me for 50% off or even free.
The location is awkward to get to from the 78 and I don’t know what it is about this parking lot, but people don’t pay attention and I have seen other cars get into accidents in the parking lot. I don’t know what it is about it, but I have to be very, very careful while driving around here.
It’s hard to find things here. I am constantly retracing my steps. Thus, the reason why take away a star in addition to the strange parking lot vibe.

Home Depot is the Land That Time Forgot. You’re inside and hours pass and u have no idea what happened. Not just this one. All Home Depots.
Just had a long transaction because there was no SKU on a piece of wood I was buying. I was also getting a corner brace. Like a package that is 3″ and weighs less than my keychain. She puts it in a bag… I say I really don’t need a bag… takes it out and hands it to me and I put it in my purse… she takes the bag off the bag holder thing and FUCKING THROWS IT IN THE TRASH. Huh??? I said the point of «no bag» is not for u to throw it away. Blank stare. I said if you’re just going to throw the bag away I’ll take the bag. Made her get it out of the trash and hand me the bag. I’ll clean out my car and use it or recycle it.
Ugh.

How do you write reviews about a big box store like Home Depot (?)…compare it to other big box stores like Lowe’s (?)…compare it to other Home Depots (?)
HOME DEPOT vs. LOWE’S
Lowe’s is a shinier version of Home Depot. It looks prettier, and man– is blue a lot easier on the eyes than the prison orange that HD sports. Lowe’s carries lower quality products in my experience. However, the new Lowe’s on Palomar Airport Road & El Camino Real has great sales on potted plants. Home Depot WINS overall.
HOME DEPOT vs. HOME DEPT
This hardware store is closer to my house than all of its brothers & sisters. Located in Oceanside just N. of the 78 Fwy. This location is cooler than other local HD’s because there are other restaurants and stores in the plaza. If I’m at Home Depot, the likelihood that I have something to do after it is extremely high. I’m no stranger to DIY, backyard and gardening projects so you can bet I want to save time. Sometimes that also involves meatball sandwiches from the Italian place next door ;)

I would give this location 6 stars if I could. I’ve always had nothing but the BEST customer service. The BEST.
I happened to go in last night because I bought retractable curtain rod/​blinds from Ikea (ah!)… I had to trim the sides to fit my window, and I couldn’t cut the metal rod myself with the dull saw I had. I went into HD to see if they could assist me, and Billy (works in the blinds/​curtains dept) was AMAZING! I actually called ahead of time to see if I should come in and he said absolutely, that he’d be there until 10pm. Friendliest guy ever.
I came in, he was there, cut the rod super fast and quick for me at NO CHARGE. It’s instances like this that just blow my mind, in a good way. They are able to ensure repeat customers by a simple and free service like this, at no charge, and I didn’t even bring their product in the store! They aren’t even looking for some kind of reimbursement, it’s just amazing. I love this.
I’ve purchased blinds from them (as well as paint, supplies, etc), and had to come back probably three times for them to trim them because I was a tad off with my measurements. Each time, the person working was more than happy to help. Never once have I felt like I was bugging them, they just wanted me to leave satisfied.
It’s just so nice to see someone willing to go out of their way just to make my night. I will continue to buy all my home improvement supplies here. I know they will treat me right!
