History

Established in 1994.

The Ginther family bought Twistee Treat of Ocoee in 1994. Originally, it was located on Colonial Drive in Ocoee, but the business moved to Maguire Road (same parking lot) in 2006. The Ginther family also owns Twistee Treat of Lake Buena Vista (Café) and is opening their new store, Ginther’s Swirls, on International Drive and Central Parkway soon. All of their stores are independently owned and operated and are not affiliated with any other Twistee Treat stores.

My name is Royetta Ginther, my husband and I have owned Twistee Treat of Ocoee for twenty years. We looked into many different businesses before taking a leap of faith on this store. We now have three stores with our children and other family members working with us and we appreciate your support of our family owned business.

They were good and quick. The sprinkles were a bit hard and there were too many peanuts and not enough chocolate on my fancy cone. Their portions are generous and their prices are very reasonable.

This is a strange little electric ice cream kind of place. We were there on a day when the weather was absolutely perfect … and yet there was not a very long crowd in line, and there were tables outside where we could sit. The icecream was good … much better than say Dairy Queen where I am not even sure it is real ice cream … I think they call it a frozen treat … Anyway, this is ice cream, and it tastes good. Get one of the fruit dribbles on it. You will like it.

An old time favorite that never goes wrong. Great selection of soft serve, shakes, malts, etc. sugar free options as well. This place is usually crowded but service is fast so you don’t have to wait long. Best of all though is the drive thru that most stores have. Only in Florida will this work… lol

Wow… I’ve been to many locations in this city and this was by far the worst! I ordered a twirl with Germany chocolate cake and pecan. So far I have found five different candies and a brownie chunk. This is awful cross-​contamination! Put simply, IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OF ANY KIND DON’T GO HERE!
The service was slow, my partner and I sat at the drive through for almost ten minutes while the woman at the window sat texting on her phone. This place was horrible… If I could give less than one star I would…

Have you ever experienced waiting in line at a Miami nightclub on a Friday night?
If that’s something you’d like to experience, then by all means attempt to visit this location on just about any day after 5pm. I visit the gym that resides in the same plaza, and I always see a line that’s about 15 deep; not only on a scorching Saturday, but even on Tuesday evenings.
Yes, the treats they offer are delicious and I can’t say a single negative thing about their ice cream, but it’s mind boggling. The prices are good and the service is average, so I do guess that’s a tough deal to pass up.

Ice cream is great but the place is run by teenagers so you’re going to get lackluster service. They took forever to take our order, walking up to the window and looking at us with confused deer in the headlights looks. But it’s not like they weren’t busy, this place is always slammed.

This is the Twistee Treat closest to where we live, and in terms of what they offer and the quality, it’s pretty much the same as the others: delicious. This one gets insanely crowded, though, and with the convenient drive-​through available, there is often a backup in the parking lot around it as well. So please be careful when going through this area.
There is a bit of seating, but not enough considering the amount of people that seem to always be here. In the hottest of days, though, we really prefer sitting in the car to enjoy our cold desserts, anyway. =)

They had me at the Ice Cream cone shaped building. Seriously, as an artist, I love businesses like this. Randy’s Donuts out in LA, the old Brown Derby that looked like a Derby style hat… it’s one of my kitschy loves.
Now, in the spirit of full disclosure, I don’t love ice cream. Some people do (hello, Dad), but I don’t. It’s not that I don’t LIKE it, I just never have a taste for it. HOWEVER, Twistee Treat is hard for even me to resist. It’s the only ice cream place I EVER find myself wanting to turn in and eat at.
I’m simple in my ice cream tastes– soft serve chocolate does it for me. But my wife and daughters LOVE the Oreo and Cookie Dough Twirls. If you’re near any of their Central Florida locations, give them a try!
Darn, got myself thinking about them now. I might just have to go get one.

To me, this is the best ice cream in Orlando. I will drive out of my way every time for their black cherry swirl soft-​serv. I don’t know their magic, but I see it clearly indicated in the fact that there is always a line.
The vanilla soft-​serv tastes like whipped cream, all the other flavors and combos are overwhelming in the sheer amour of choice they give you, and some locations even have a drive-​thru.
I’m only taking a star off because the service has been very poor a few times (mostly the Ocoee location) and is, at best, average.

I get that people love Twistee Treat locations because it’s so very kitschy. It one of those spots where sometimes you don’t know you want it until you see it in the distance and then ALL OF YOUR BEING MAKES IT A GOAL!
It’s soft serve and you can get it however you would like. I do love the idea behind the flavor burst cones; cool mint, yum! They also have their version of blizzards: Twirls. I have never had any of their slush, because, well I can’t turn down ice cream but it’s another option.
I usually go for the hot fudge or carmel sundae, simple classic and you can never go wrong. They have many other sundae flavors too: peanut butter, blueberry, peach, pineapple, cherry, marshmallow, etc.
Avoid the mid day long lines or summer evening lines or just be prepared for them!
