OK. If it was up to me… there would be no stars. I would have to say that I should have read the reviews here on Unilocal and stayed away from Jimmys. The sole reason THEONLYONE we went to this place was because we were on vacation(staying in Ocracoke) and my oldest nephew LOVES seafood. And at the shore the best place to get a variety of seafood(be it locally caught or not) is at a buffet, which I am not a fan of in a regular setting. I don’t go there. But Jay LOVES seafood so in we went. There was some very medicore live music on the screened in dining area and we chose to set inside hoping for some quiet and maybe some cool. Ha ha. Window a/c units barely providing any cool. oh well. You barely get a/c in local eateries at the beach anyways. The server finally ambled over. She was terrible. TERRIBLE!!! I am very very gracious with wait staff. Read my other reviews. I can put up with a lot from waiters/waitresses because I know it is a crap job anyways and they don’t need my bitching on top of it. But she was awful. We didn’t say anything but lesser folks who won’t put up with bad service certainly would. She mumbled that the buffet was $ 30 for an adult and the kids would be their age plus $ 2. Wow. This better be a fantastic buffet. My sister and I ordered off of the limited menu. We wanted to add a side salad with our $ 20 a plate fried flounder(for me) and shrimp(for my sis). They wanted TENDOLLARS for a trip to the salad bar!!! AREYOUKIDDINGME? For one they made for us(off of the salad bar, I might add) was $ 5. Wow. Again, this better be a fantastic salad. It wasn’t, Beck said-I didn’t get it. We spent $ 120 in this place, had TERRIBLE service and so-so seafood on the overpriced buffet. Jay was happy, and he was the only one. Please don’t waste your money. I would love to tell you where to go for fresh local seafood, but I still don’t know. Boo. BOIL-IT-DOWN: Go to the cliché Howards Pub. At least there you can get a decent burger. I was sad to sit down to a local seafood place only to be underwhelmed by the food choices. I actually picked the buffet because they had crawfish on it. I picked out three and each one barely had any meat. The seafood imperial was dry and I just basically gave up on the rest. The other parts of the bar were good. Maybe if they reduced the price and gave a non-seafood option opinion would be better of the place.

Dear Liz: What part of seafood waiting in a heated metal tray sounds appealing to you? Yes there are 3 different types of crab legs, yes there are mini corn dogs and clam chowder. Why are there so few people in here? Because the locals know not to bother. The desserts are in a refrigerator in the corners? My that’s strange. Well, so is the taste. Where’s the waiter? Sitting down at another table across the room. All these things added together, plus at $ 27 a pop. Well that makes for a lot of work, and not a lot of satisfaction. Better luck next time!

Jimmy’s Seafood Buffet offers a good buffet, but not great. The atmosphere was good, but there was hardly anyone there and not too much food on the buffet. There were many different types of crab legs and they were tasty. Overall, I think it was too costly for the amount and variety of food on the buffet. Service was so-so as well.
