This whole community here in the Community Square,(which also has the Community Store residing there), is a place of community re-build. A historical place that needs your support in either buying products sold or donating to the cause. It is amazing that these places survive and /or are rebuilt after the hardships and storms they endure. It does take a lot of expense and resource. Yes, the stores are small as the island itself is a thin strip of land. It’s a great store.

Kitty Hawk Kites used to be the best place in the world to buy kites of all shapes, sizes, experience levels, etc… It has now become a glorified toy shop with a few kites on the ceiling. I will still always hit this store when I come to the Outer Banks, but this one in particular is very difficult to even shop in. It is so crowded with stuff that I couldn’t fit my 2-year-old’s umbrella stroller in the door(and you don’t want kids running around these stores). It is always dirty(which, really, how do you get things clean in OBX?) and cluttered and very hard to find things, at least in the toy area. The clothing area always has cool stuff with new items every year. They have a great selection of Life is Good stuff, even though it is so overpriced I can’t afford it.(I get it online.) The little building is very«Okracoke» which is cool, and I will be back, but not with a group of people — there’s no room! :)
