The food was very good, but the service was slightly neglectful so that is why only 4 stars. Not rude or anything, they just didn’t come check on us or refill our drinks in a timely way. I had a really good pasta with tasty fennel sausage that was even good cold the next day, and kumamoto oysters. Yum!

Not extraordinary but overall pretty decent. Food was pretty good. At our table we had a variety of dishes including poached/braised halibut, seafood pasta, rabbit ragut(quite good!) and a roasted half-chicken. Everyone seemed mostly satisfied with their food. Portions were just right in my opinion… not huge by any means but definitely sufficient. Food came out remarkably fast, considering it was a full-house weekend dinner time. I would have liked to give them a 4 but the service pulled it down to a 3. Mainly because our waitress didn’t check in on us much and when she did, one of our party needed more iced tea(it had already been empty for some time). Waitress acknowledged the request and disappeared. 5, 6 minutes passed and she hadn’t returned. A second waitress(not ours) came by and asked if we needed anything. We told her iced tea. She also acknowledged and disappeared. She never came back with tea and in fact we never saw this second waitress again for the entire hour we were there! Our original waitress eventually came by again, but she did NOT have Iced tea with her, despite having been gone for nearly 15 minutes! In fact, she didn’t even remember our previous request and just said, «Are you folks alright? Do you need anything?». Ugh. I reminded her(with likely annoyance in my voice) we had waited 15 minutes for an iced tea refill she had been asked for. She disappeared again. I had half-expected her to never return like the mysterious secondary waitress. Fortunately(though 5 long minutes later) she did… and, third time is the charm, I suppose… because she brought tea. But sadly the whole process took about 20 minutes and a total of 3 asks… which is not acceptable in my book. To be fair, it was very busy and I did hear murmurs of one employee telling another that so-and-so wouldn’t be in that evening. So maybe they were short handed. And I will add that the waitress was friendly, despite her not so great performance. But based on the overall service we received, 3 stars is as good as I can give this place. Though may try again sometime if I’m in Ojai and want to see if the not so great service was a fluke, because the food was pretty good.

Osteria Monte Grappa is quite possibly the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. I’m sad that I can’t go there every day(I live in Los Angeles, and would probably go broke if I did). Their menu is ever-changing, they use the freshest local ingredients in their meals, and their wine list is stellar. Each visit, I’ve tried something new, and I can enthusiastically say that the beef ravioli, the halibut, and the pesto pasta dishes are insane. I’m jealous of all you people in Ojai, living the peaceful life and having Osteria Monte Grappa a stone’s throw away.

Absolutely love this place! Their oil and bread is delicious, and I’ve always believed that if you can get the basics right then everything else is just upward from there. Their pasta and wine selection is amazing and totally delicious. I love the décor of the restaurant it feels intimate and cozy. Their backyard patio seating is also beautiful and special. I love the lights. Make sure you call ahead to make a reservation !

Came here today for lunch. Everything was really great! I got a flatbread pizza and it was delicious! The sauce was different… some what on a the sweet side almost? But it was really good! Looked like they had a lot of great food because everyone’s food passing by looked amazing! I saw in the menu they also have spaghetti squash as an alternative in there pasta dishes… pretty cool! Haven’t seen that at many other places. I will deff be back!

Osteria Monte Grappa is a quaint eatery featuring fresh Italian fare in Ojai. We enjoyed a late afternoon Sunday lunch for a party of four and were sat within five minutes. I highly recommend trying the Fettuccine Maritima. Fresh homemade pasta! The dish is delicious with all the savory goodness you’d expect from a light cream-based tomato broth, a pile of fresh clams and mussels and a bit of arugula. Our server was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Osteria is located in the heart of Ojai’s main shopping road, across from the kid-approved Liberty Park mega playground.

Amazing Food!!! The back patio is perfectly appointed with lots of tables, shade umbrellas & trees. It’s a very cute space both inside & out. The specialty cocktails are a variety of fruit spritzers & are very refreshing & yummy. My husband had the seafood soup with everything in it & I had the braised short beef ravioli.(The exact name is in Italian so I don’t remember what the correct name of the dishes are) The soup was incredibly well seasoned & very flavorful. The beef ravioli was very delicious! The portions are perfect! Not too small, Not too large. Our experience was that of an authentic Italian home made meal. Enjoy!!!

The food is so good. I had a wonderful pasta dish, and my papa had the ciapino, it was the best we both ever had. Husband had a pizza that was also very good. The décor is nice, like the set up and bar area. Love that you can see the deserts near the bar. Only thing I would have changed was a larger glass for my water, which is not an issue. I can not wait to go back

We had dinner there last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ravioli was excellent as was the flatbread. Would highly recommend. We got there around 5:30 — 6:00 and got right in but it did get busy and I can see why. 5 star food and service.

Hubby and I had a delicious dinner while visiting Ojai. There are numerous farm-to-table dining in options in town and Osteria Monte Grappa is not be missed. The spot-on service includes prompt refills on water, friendly menu advice and bread service with EVOO and balsamic. The wine menu includes several local selections. Hubby had the homemade pappardelle pasta with ground meat in a savory red sauce. I had the roasted local duck with roasted vegetable. Both portions were generous and perfect for trading bites and yummy smiles. Since we were visiting the area I had a glass of the local rose to compliment the local cuisine. Perfect. This bistro does a brisk business and fills-up quickly. They take reservations for parties of 6 or more. The bar opens 30 minutes prior to dinner service so consider arriving early to snag a table without a wait or come later in the evening and put your name on the list then stroll the main street/arcade of Ojai. There is plenty to see and Bart’s outdoor bookstore is a few blocks away.

Pretty good northern Italian food! The rabbit risotto was tasty, although I could not detect much rabbit in it. Also, the New Zealand salmon with polenta was quite good with a nice pistachio pesto. The pappardelle with beef was also flavorful, especially with the goat cheese. One disappointment was the salad we ordered. We spent $ 8 on a plate full of arugula. Really?! But the main dishes all tasted good, so I’d recommend just ordering those instead of an overpriced salad. They are definitely satisfying, but not overly heavy or cheesy like many Italian restaurants. The bread appetizer was okay, but the olive oil and vinegar added a nice tang.

Three years later, we returned for lunch. Enjoyed the meal then and enjoyed it again today. We both choose the Zucca Spaghettata All’adriatica, roasted spaghetti squash served in a light tomato sauce with olives, capers and red pepper flakes. It was seasoned just perfectly. My friend said her panino avo caprese sandwich with burrata cheese served with a side salad was delicious, too. Service was great, and it felt good to be out of the 100 degree weather. On cooler days, outdoor patio dining is available, too.

Best Italian dishes you can find in Ventura County! The scallops for appetizer, fresh Romaine salad, roasted chicken and pasta with seafood. The deserts were divine too. Chocolate cake and crème brûlée. All spirits were very good. Great wine. Definitely going back.

We were passing thru Ojai and stopped at Osteria Monte Grappa for late morning Brekkie — Lunch. The patio setting is very nice. That where the good part ended for my 5 friends and myself. I ordered a cob salad. It is by far mostly lettuce and very little of the good stuff ($ 14.95) and it left a lot to be desired. My friend had a burger and it was dry. He asked for some ketchup(he had to ask 3 times over a ten minute period and when he finally got it his dry burger was now cold and dry). Even though it is a nice patio setting we will not be coming back. Service poor and food overpriced.

Really? I have not written a review for one of my all time favorite Italian restaurants with outdoor dining? I have eaten here several times, so I must have been too contented after each enjoyable meal to wax poetic about it. We always sit on the patio since most evenings are warm and lovely in Ojai. We start with the bruscetta and enjoy a local wine from the extensive wine list while perusing the menu. The ingredients are fresh, the pace leisurely, and the service is laid back and friendly. Fresh bread with oil and vinegar comes with the meal. I love their risotto, but on my last visit I had their delicious pasta, and part of my husband’s fresh salad, which was quite delicious too. Warning, the tiramisu is huge and flavorful, so you should probably share…
