City Super Buffet

Went on a Sunday @ 12:30 and some of food items were already cold like the salt pepper squid. Could use some flavor in most food. Sushi selection was ok. Hibachi was not bad. Just not a good vibe for me.

This is my second time eating here and both times were disgusting. This place does not deserve one star. We came in and there was no one to greet us. After sitting down she asked how old the girls were and I said they were 9&10 she then asks each one individually ignoring me. She didn’t bring us enough waters and even saw we were sharing. The food was not fresh I’m sure there were multiple health violations as the sushi was warm and the raw chicken seemed as it had been there all day. The restaurant was filthy and I believe there were boogers on the wall and the table was sticky. The kids didn’t even eat the ice cream it tasted like Icy milk. The staff was rude! She came to pickup the check and opened the book to look at the tip, no thank you, have a good evening … nothing. I didn’t see any prices anywhere and after receiving the check was definitely surprised as it was very expensive for a buffet. I can’t believe this place is still open we will NEVER go back.

I been coming here for a long time and since name change (possible ownership change too) food quality went down. Sushi and hot food section dosnt have any options. I can tell the quality of ingredients is very low due to have no taste of any of the food.
And also service went down the hill too. No one check on us for refills or take mty plates.

I went here with my sister because my little nephew was insisting on a buffet; I’m really not one to trust buffets. But I’m giving this place 4 stars because for what it is, it’s a great establishment! There were a lot of fresh food options and I really enjoyed the hot and sour soup. There was a young waiter there named Peter who befriended my 5 year old nephew and they become insta-pals…it was adorable. There was a hibachi grille with veggie and protein options and my sister even tried the sushi and she didn’t hate it. I had a giant plate of fruit for dessert and it made me feel I got my money’s worth (12.99 on a Saturday night), also it wasn’t too crowded but luckily there were enough people around that there was a constant replenishment of fresh food from the kitchen.
I tend to like to have some take home when I spend more than $ 10 on a meal but all in all I had a good experience here and will probably come again some day.

Cheap, garbage Chinese. Fill up on crab rangoon & chicken on a stick. The rest just makes me sad for China, America, Kansas, Olathe, food, restaurants, buffets, and chickens in general. The terrible soft serve was the horrible cherry on top of the shart cake that is this «restaurant».

Really, really bad food, even for a Chinese buffet. The meats used are not good quality, to the point where even the easy chicken dishes (i.e. General Tso) were poor. Some of the other dishes were outright inedible. It’s cheap, but you get what you pay for. Even the soft-​serve ice cream was tasteless! Avoid…

Food is OK but not amazing. The previous buffet Wei (not sure if there is new owners) was pretty good. Don’t like them asking get my child his age made him feel awkward and made us think that they didn’t trust us telling them his age. So Rude… Haven’t they heard of telling your child not to talk to strangers. Price was too high.

This buffet had all the basics, including sushi, seafood, hibachi grill, and soft-​serve ice cream. I thought the white fish, and the sauces on the meats, were especially good. Otherwise, everything was just OK. The salt and pepper squid was a unique find. Buffet items were identified well.
I thought the price was reasonable ($ 7.99 Mo-​Sa lunch buffet and $ 1.69 drink). The service was efficient, and attentive, while the interior was not fancy, but clean, with themed background music.

Is there an option for no stars? If so, this is the restaurant that’ll get it. The food was ok as far as Chinese buffet goes but pricey. The service was awful. No-​star awful. I don’t think the manager (who was on the phone the entire time we were there) or the wait staff spoke English. For it being later in the evening, there were quite a few people dining, which made of difficult to determine which customer was the one burping. Lastly, there was a pen spring in the food. Yes, you read that correctly. A spring from a ballpoint pen. I wish I had thought of taking a picture, but the meal ended at that point and we won’t be going back.

I personally think this is a pretty decent Chinese place. Although I’ve seen some bad reviews I haven’t had anything to complain about… yet lol the food when we come in always fresh and they are quick on refilling our drinks.
Usually they have the same stuff out, but some days they switch it up and put out something different on some of the bars. The help has always been pretty friendly.

The absolute worst service I’ve ever even heard of! Manager didn’t even care. So unprofessional. How is this even a business?

This was pretty good as super buffets go. Reasonable prices, they keep the food fresh, and it’s the basics you expect.
Loved their crispy chicken wings, those were AWESOME. Their beef could be sliced a little thinner in the beef dishes, but that’s a personal preference.
Since it’s a buffet, the server didn’t check back with us much, but enough to get by.

My wife went here for lunch with workmates and said she liked it a lot. I of course told her that was not possible — I mean it only has 1 ½ stars on Unilocal.She assured me she wasn’t crazy so I said I’d try it out. The food was DELICIOUS! (And HOT). I’ll be back. True the décor and ambiance could use a makeover, but it’s not a wreck by any means. Great place for the feed bag.

I don’t know why it says this place is closed as it’s not. I went this evening expecting to eat at Wei’s but was surprised to see it changed to City. I was further surprised when the quality of the food changed. I quite enjoyed it as the former restaurant, the sushi was especially nice, but everything just turned downhill. The food was barely above room temperature, with the dumplings hard because they were so cold. The only sushi left were some with dry canned tuna and no sauce to accompany. None. Not even soy sauce. The only condiment in sight was Sriracha. When I could barely swallow anything else, I decided it was time for desert and what I found were 2 selections of sad «fresh fruit» and the rest were canned. In the end it was an incredible waste of money and the change was not for the better.

Subpar Asian buffet food in a crappy Mexican restaurant’s décor. The waitress set another table’s dirty plate on our table. Someone’s gnawed food fell onto the table and she walked off, leaving us to clean up the nastiness. If that’s what passes for ok in the front of the house, I hate to think about what is hidden away in the back. Save your self the food poisoning and go somewhere else. This place is totally not worth it at twelve bucks.

Came here for my cousin’s birthday lunch. Hugely disappointed in how this place turned out. Mainly because of the fact that the food was c-​o-​l-​d. The sushi bar was not fresh. Honestly, if the food could at least stay a bit warm, it could count as your average chinese buffet food. The overall experience at this place however would definitely be below average. The host and the people bussing tables were nice. But the combination of sticky tables/​chairs and the cold, nasty food doesn’t leave customers a very good impression. My family will definitely not be keeping this location on our to-​go list of Chinese buffets.

Sushi was tasteless and warm. Food was pretty much lukewarm all around. Americanized food was okay, came after rush hour during the weekday so that could be why, but will probably not come back.
Front waitresses seemed distracted and rude but the waitress who refilled waters was decent enough.

As others have mentioned, when this was Wei’s Super Buffet, it was actually pretty good for a Chinese buffet. Now, it doesn’t really set itself apart from any other Chinese buffets. It’s ok, but on weekends the price is a little high.
I actually ate at City Super Buffet close to it’s grand opening. I was rather disappointed then and decided not to write a review. I decided to give them another chance and ate there about a week ago. It was an improvement, but that doesn’t necessarily say much.
The food was better on the second visit. Items weren’t cold and they replenished the buffet fairly quickly. The food tasted like one would expect from a buffet.
I prefer to do the Mongolian BBQ. Something about them cooking it to order sits better with me than food sitting out on a heated surface. I also think it tastes better because you can choose the ingredients and the amount of whatever sauce is available. The person doing the grilling was fast and did a good job.
Service was much better on the second visit. The waitress/​busser cleared empty plates and refilled beverages quickly. She and the other employees we had any interaction with were nice.
The sushi bar didn’t look as good as it used to when it was Wei’s. I“m guessing they no longer have the sushi chef that prepared the sushi back then. It almost looks pre-​packaged now and there isn’t as much variety.
The desserts were pretty lacking. They used to have a little more selection. I pretty much only have the soft serve ice cream now.
One nice thing is that they kept the hand sanitizer stations that are near each buffet table. I wish more people would use them, but at least they have them. All in all, it’s just another buffet.
