History
Established in 2009.
Unique Boutique Amplifiers, or UB Amps, is the result of several factors that together complete a recipe for top-quality products — need, creativity, a desire for something different, and dedication to a process with a single-minded focus on design and quality. With looks and sound that rival the boutique competition at a fraction of the price, no one would guess that the entire design and build process takes place in a small household shop and began with one player’s quest for an amplifier that would adequately reflect the music about which he is passionate. «Music is freeing for me. It always has been. For me, it’s about sharing what I’m experiencing,» says owner and designer Ryan McVay. «I wanted an amplifier that looked amazing and sounded even better. I had owned several amplifiers over the years that had qualities that I appreciated, but none that really spoke the musical message that I was trying to communicate.»

Business Owner
Today, McVay continues to build and design amplifiers. Though he has enjoyed success in many musical endeavors in the past, including performances in venues from Las Vegas to Maryland, engineering several artists’ albums such as Kenny Chesney’s album «Poets and Pirates,» and performing instrumentally and vocally on albums for high-profile acts across musical genres, McVay leaves no question as to his sense of fulfillment with UB Amps. «I guess you could say that I’ll be involved with music in any way, shape, or form that I can,» jokes Ryan. «It’s a part of who I am, a part of my soul. I just love to play and to be able to create a product that reflects that passion, well, that’s total fulfillment for me.»
