Good food but customers are always wrong! I been eating there for a few years off and on, Im done going to this store, season why I asked for water cup and when I went to put water in my hand on the cup touched the pink lemonade fill bar and the employees ran out and said no!!! You can’t have any soda! Oh my Gosh!!! Making a big deal over a little pink lemonade in the water! Oh my oh my oh my GOD! They made me feel like I stolen something from them, I asked for my money back and I’m never going back to their H salt fish and chips, I don’t even want to give them one star for going off on a paying customer!!! P. S. if you want to lose a life time customer over a little pink lemonade in my water! Good luck to stay in business, shame on you !

There were two women working there. One does the cashier and the other cooks. The cashier lady looks very bored when she works but, she is very kind during her service. Well, I ordered 2 fish and chips and it took forever to be served. There weren’t many customers here so I wonder why. I also love the British decorations around the restaurant. It’s mostly paintings and some fake sea animals hanging around. Plus, there is a TV playing History Channel which is very clever idea because most restaurants usually don’t play educational channels for customers.

Just stopped by here for Ash Wednesdays. Ordered the 2 fish and chip combo for $ 4.95. They have posters all over their wall with combos that aren’t on the menu. If you don’t like«chips(fries)» you could sub for other side orders. The fish was fried and bartered really well, not too crispy not to soft, so it tasted good. The pieces of fish were huge too, 2 filled me up along with the fries. My only complaint is after a couple of bites it gets a little bland, and you need sauce to save you! The fish isn’t seasoned, my recommendation for the owners is to use seasoning, like salt and pepper, Cajun, or lemon pepper to give it some more flavor. Ask for tartar sauce, lemon, hot sauce, and salt and pepper because you’re gonna need it! Overall it’s good fresh fish, just a little bland, get sauces and seasoning!

Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. The batter was just right and not over fried. Excellent service.

Love this place! I come here maybe once every month or two but the owner always manages to remember our order. Super friendly, fast service, the food is cooked to order and is always amazing! Wouldn’t recommend going anywhere else for Fish & Chips.

Its been a while since I posted a review on Unilocal and it’s no one’s fault except for mine. I have been looking for my soothsayer and today I found it. My girlfriend and I make our way to this fine establishment from Newport. You may ask why? And I simply say, it’s that good. Today we walked in and we were graciously greeted as we alsways have been since day 1. The owners always remember what we get. Yes I’ll have the big Ben today. Lol yes again! We were going to pay with cash and we came up short. As I took out my credit card to pay to with it instead the owner says don’t worry it’s ok. I felt bad for not paying for the full amount, but I’m trying to pay it forward by writing an honest review. I have never been disappointed coming here. The food is always fresh. The fish and chips are always crispy. The food is always so perfectly crispy that I can order to go, drive home and guess what, still crispy and glorious! Even my girlfriend’s mom, who grew up in London and is extremely picky about her fish chips, says«tastes just like how mum used to make it.»(in an English accent of course)

First time here, came in for the lunch special. Fish and chips. Fish was good, the fries were made perfect for me. They were a little over cooked, so if you don’t like them crunchy, might tell them when ordering your food. I will be back to try other items. Oh, and the young lady that took my order, super nice, very cute.

It’s basically fast food, but it was good. I got an extra fish portion for a dinner and it was plenty of food.

The Cod was fried to perfection and tastes fresh. Will definitely be back for more. Also tried the clam chowder. Needs a little salt, but full of clams.

Just finished lunch. GREAT! Service was excellent. Staff is fabulous. Good was best fish n chip I’ve had in really long time. They have steak fries, usually am not fond of them, however these were really good. Everything was cooked as requested. Love this place. New favorite.

This is what I call a «hidden gem». If you like fried food, you will LOVE this place. I had the fried chicken strips and onion rings and hush puppies and loved it. One would think since their main sell is fish that the oil would have a fishy taste, but NOPE, tastes fine. They custom make each order and the place is always busy. I am not a fish person, but my family is, so I had to compromise, and it was well worth the wait. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes hush puppies and chicken strips. I am trying to find better alternatives than Long Johns which is total grease, so these people at least the food tastes good and not like a ball of hot grease as in Long John Silvers. Highly recommended!

Knocking it down to 1 star. Small fish portions, not worth the price… Tartar sauce should not cost extra. We might as well eat in a restaurant for how much we spend here…

The fish tastes very fresh. I wish there was an H. SALT in Irvine or south county. The crabcake was like coleslaw mixed with some crab and deep fried. Pretty watery inside. Not really a crabcake. Anyhow I always enjoy their fish n chips when I’m in the area.

Prompt polite service, lightning fast food delivery(before we could even get the family settled down), and truly delicious well cooked food! Perfect for a chilly night out! Got the mini shrimp, a side of clam chowder, the triple catch(shrimp, fish AND scallops!) and a kids meal, all for UNDER $ 25 bucks!

Lunch special fish and chips $ 4.192pm-5pm. It tasted pretty decent. The décor was quite off. One section is european and another is sea theme(see photos). I’ll be back for the fish and chips deals. Other than that, I think that’s the only thing that’s worth coming for. I wouldnt drive out of my way for this joint… ONLY if im in tha hood.

Service rocks! I would have to say that consistently this restaurant in particular has the best service of any restaurant I have been too. I mean even compared to places like Mortons, Lawry’s. The people here are so nice! The food is good, but the service makes it taste better. I feel welcome every time I walk into the restaurant. Even when their busy, they have a nice greeting. I took my 2 kids to the restaurant for lunch on Friday and it was a wonderful place to just kick back and enjoy some nice English Style fried fish and chips. It’s not the best fish in town, but definitely worth getting if your in the mood for some fish and chips. I would recommend ordering the Captains Special, since you get some Shrimp along with 2 Fish and plenty of chips(Fries). The fish to batter ratio is spot on and you can actually taste the fish. Unlike most Fish and Chips places. The chips are a little soggy and I wish they would change the recipe for them. I think H Salt always over cooks the chips. I wish they would cook the fries made to order so that we get fresh chips along with the fish. I would highly recommend this place!

Sometimes I get a craving for fish & chips and H Salt always hits the spot. They have fried fish, jumbo shrimp, chicken strips, scallops, zucchini and hush puppies. Its not perfect, the jumbo shrimp were a little bit tough & the condiments were watery in my opinion but it’s good enough to satisfy my craving. I actually really enjoy their grilled tilapia tacos too, they’ve become my new favorite thing on their menu. I like the hush puppies, they’re little fried cornbread balls, fattening & so good. It is what it is at H. Salt, nothing special just good fried fish.
