History

Established in 1941.

Karl’s Sales and Service was founded as a tire store in 1941. One of the major manufacturer’s of tires had recently designed an automatic clothes washer and was looking for retail dealers. It only made sense for them to use the large network of existing tire dealers to help them sell their new washing machine. The rest is history!

I had to have an oven delivered to my home by Karl’s Appliances. I was told on Friday that it wouldn’t be delivered until Wednesday. Luckily, that gave me enough time to bargain with my coworkers in order to get my shift covered, losing out on pay, but it had to be done. It wasn’t until Wednesday afternoon that they finally called to inform me that it wouldn’t be in until the next day. I asked to speak to a manager, any manager, but somehow, despite the overwhelmingly common layout of multi-tiered staffing, working simultaneously during business hours, one wasn’t there, and the woman on the phone couldn’t care less about what in the world my issue with this new delivery arrangement might be. Karl’s appliances promise to save you money. Well, after having to take TWO days off of work to be there for their desired, wide-window, and massively changing timeframe, I’m down a couple hundred dollars in pay. Go elsewhere, and know you made a wise decision, both as a consumer, and rational human being.

I walked in with my family and a few salesmen were standing around not doing anything but talking at the front desk. We must have been invisible. I looked for about 10 to 20 minutes with no one asking me if we needed any help finding anything. We were looking around and could not find what we wanted so on the way out the guy actually said «did you find what you were looking for?» Or something like that. And at that point we said what we were looking for and he proceeds to say, «of course we carry that brand.» A few other bad jokes and he goes to the computer and looks up what we were looking for and they did not have the exact model but my point is when you see people walk into a store like this you should actually ask them if they need any help especially if no one else is in the store and you and your coworkers are standing around talking. The only reason why they get two stars is because the guy was actually a tiny bit funny and he asked us if we needed anything on the way out, although conventional wisdom says when you walk into an appliance store you ask the customer for help upon entry; especially when you are just standing around doing absolutely nothing and there are no other customers in the store.

My husband and I live in Orange and we were excited to learn that there was a store nearby that we could purchase a wall AC unit. When my husband first arrived he asked a question regarding a unit and the sales person (who was a gentleman) was very rude and abrupt. He relayed to me that he thought that the guy was rude because it was very busy… okay duly noted. So he waited around and once the store was close to empty he approached the sales person again and he was still rude. I promptly checked for other stores online and guess what… we won’t be returning. That is what stores should realize… we have other choices.

I visited this store with a bid prepared at the Fairfield store. Immediately they were uninterested in helping us since they weren’t «our» salesman. Nor could they make any changes (a more expensive item was desired) to our bid because only the salesman from Fairfield could do it.
When we turned to leave Robert said with an attitude «this is why I get in trouble, dude», snatching the bid from my hand and stomping off like a 4 year old.
First, I’m «sir» not «dude». Second, don’t huff and puff about taking my $ 6,000. Robert followed us to the door begging to help us but too little too late. Avoid this store at all cost.
